    Usually when they say that they feel remorse, it seems like they only have remorse for getting caught. It’s been my observation that a confidential informant is usually someone looking for leniency in their own case or there is a reward for information. All they do is listen for people who talk about what they have done and report it to the authorities.

    So the sex offender list can range from public exposure (think someone pissing in public), some States apply it for 17 and 18 year olds situations, all the way to the sex offender monsters that are terrifying. Depending which state one committed as well as the severity of the crime some sentences will be lighter than others. Also the wording of the sentencing is very important as you heard the judges say consecutive vs concurrent. Consecutive is jail time serve in a row vs concurrent are all the charges lump together and the highest jail time given will be served for all the crimes.

    There is a reason for long terms. In some states a "Life Sentence" really does NOT mean what it says. The offender might be eligible for parole after serving as little as 15 or 20 years. Therefore, in REALLY awful cases, the sentence is specified in a large number of years or months which means that the convicted criminal will effectively receive a "Life Sentence".

    • @gokudagoat
      @gokudagoat Před 6 měsíci

      How did you find out that his girlfriend is permanently in a wheelchair? I tried looking up the case and every article mentioned that they were both injured in the crash but never specified that the girl ended up paralyzed. Are you just saying that because you can hear her say "I can't feel my leg/legs" in the video? If so, that's not exactly proof that she's paralyzed and stuck in a wheelchair for the rest of her life. She could've just been in a lot of pain or either had one leg or both legs broken, it's a little hard to tell if she said "legs" or "leg" from the audio.
      Either way I really hope that's not the case and she isn't paralyzed from the waist down. Although idk why she even thought it was a good idea to get in the car with him after running out of court in the first place. The dude got off way too easy though, not only did he injure his girlfriend but almost killed an entire family as well. He definitely deserved to get hit with some felonies and serve some prison time at least.

    The sentence was light, but they also had already spent 3 years in prison waiting to go to trial. The time a person spends in prison before trial counts as part of the final sentence.
    On the drug crime, sometimes courts will go light on a person when he or she is injecting drugs into another person when that person asked to be injected. What shocks me is that this case took place in Utah-- one of the most conservative states in American

    I think with Murder in general, it can happen to anyone, anywhere at anytime. Be it a stranger or someone you know.
    Some of it may play a role in genetics. Some of it is environmental factors. Some is mental illness.
    Much of the time, it is usually crimes of passion, greed or revenge.
    Passion would be...you came home...found your spouse in bed with someone else, you went and geabbed a gun and shot them both dead.
    Money...would be...knowing you are in a financially precarious position in life, so you look at your spouse and maybe even kids and kill for the life insurance money.
    Revenge. This one is pretty clear.
    Now, there is the sociopath. The one who kills without remorse.
    There is also the classic Psychopath.
    These are the ones who genetics play a huge role in.
    Most though are circumstantial or because of a bad environment growing up. It isn't comforting to the victims or their families, but there are few Mansons or Dahmers in the world. The truly horrific monsters.

    Our judicial system works, and doesn't at the same time. The problem is that morals have changed in our country over the years, which in turn means the people who write laws are kever on the same page with max and min sentences. Some offenses should just be cut and dry, life. But our Constitution is so open to interpretation theses days that we've lost sight of evil not being punished, mostly due to a lawmaker who can personally benefit from said legislation.
