  • Used this process on my sister’s 2019 Tiguan SEL 4motion R line. Should be the same for 2018 and 2020. I believe all MQB cars Golf, GTI and Golf R. Possibly some other newer Volkswagen and Audi cars
Hook car battery to a trickle charger
Hook computer to a charger and plug into car
    Ignition on
    Open ross-tech vcds
    Clear any codes to start
Pump brake pedal(idk if this is necessary)
    -Select
    -03 ABS Brakes
    -04 Basic settings
    -IDE03331 to start the change
Go back and do the brakes just as you would
-IDE03330 to finish and test the system
Refer to the ross-tech video that is out there for more info. Try this at your own risk, I am just trying to be helpful to people that are experiencing what I was

Extremely helpful. I used it for 2018 Tiguan SE. I would like to share a few helpful tips:
    1. try VCDS before you actually begin the entire job, this helped me get familiar with the procedure, plus know where the functions were located.. also clear out your codes for your brakes, check codes make sure they are gone and them proceed.
    2. Have wheels off, vehicle on stands, parts laid out along with tools. Plus brake reservoir open, put rag over entry so nothing ends up in the reservoir.
    3. Use a battery charger for the vehicle. Plus charger for laptop, plugged in for additional piece of mind.
    4. VERY IMPORTANT: before you begin, clear out codes, ensure there are no codes and then; Open the calipers on VCDS (follow video), during this step you can close the controller while the brakes are in the open position.
    5. Finally, pushing back the piston has very little resistance, if you don't have a caliper tool, and you are using a C clamp; ensure it is at least 6 inches. Press brake pedal gently back in place close the brake reservoir and "close" or end the procedure on VCDS.
Thank you for posting this video.

I am glad! my sisters car was metal on metal for the rear brakes, when that other video wasn’t working it was making me nervous. I wanted to make this video to avoid that happening to anyone else

And after ending brake lining change function VCDS will perform the Electronic Parking Brake test. Then is should say passed. After that don't forget to clear ABS module DTC's or you might get a DTC saying EPB is in brake change mode.
