- WOW I have not seen this movie in a long time probably 35 years. Seems like a real crap movies that painted Aussies in a bad light. This character is garbage.

*TRIVIA* The original Australian version runs about 6 minutes longer than the international version. It includes more character building in the first half. There is also more swearing which was dubbed out of the international version. The international version puts quotation marks around the Crocodile in the title this is the uncut version i have seen and its a lot better than the current one that your'e familiar with because it makes more sense with the storyline
The Dundee movie are a lot of fun they play up a Stereotype and as such the are larger than life. This was 25 random scenes not really 25 quotes. Has the movie age yes there are scenes you probably would never have today. This was an amazingly successful Australian Film internationally and gave a boost to the Aussie film industry. It's success is even more amazing considering it cam out the same year as Top Gun, Stand By Me, Aliens, Highlander and Platoon. Cringe or not it cost $8.8 million dollars to make and made $328 million and is the highest grossing Australian film.
If you went up to Paul Hogan and said the movie was crap, I expect he would say "That ain't crap", pull out from behind him a copy of Crocodile Dundee 2 and say "This is crap!".
How can you give a true assessment of the the movie by watching a few quotes/scenes and half of them where in the second film.

G'day, from Australia, l live in outback Northwest NSW, and visit many outback pubs and many jokers think they are Mick Dundee, but there's only one true Paul Hogan and he's an amazing Australia, no political correctness in a bush pud, try visit on one day, cheers mate, Neil 🤠.
If you want to watch an Australian comedy made for Australians, check movies like The Castle or The Dish.

First movie was good at the time, there was a few sequels (I think some of the clips here are from them), and they kinda sucked. The sequels were mainly driven by a very enthusiastic German audience and the movies became zombies of the original with increasingly unlikely plots and cringy dialogue. Even though it’s not aged well, I’m still glad the first movie exists
Good or bad, the first movie will always be one of my "milestone movies". As I started a new IT job in 1986, and had to attend software courses at Windsor. Where hotel prices were more than the daily Civil Service subsistence allowance. So the "residential" course price included a hotel room and an evening meal. I ended up eating my "cut price" evening meals from a very shortl special menu. On my own at a table well away from all the hotel's other normal customers. One night I wandered out from my bare little room and into a local cinema. That was showing crocodile Dundee, when it was first released. Back then all the usual tourist places like Windsor Castle, closed about the same time my course finished for the day.
It has not aged too well.. but still takes me back to childhood :)

You can't bag the acting or the lines as it's what you Americans made it from Hollywood. If Americans bag it then really you're bagging yourself as an American. This was made the way it is for an American audience. You say it's bad then really your saying how America is.
