- A look at Dutch citizen, Joran van der Sloot, the last person to see 18-year-old Natalee Holloway while she was on a graduation trip to Aruba in 2005.
Examining killers who gained public notoriety when their crimes whipped up a media frenzy. The unnerving psychology behind murder has long been source material for television, books and movies, but why do certain killers capture the attention of millions?

Deadlishly good looks? Seriously? A very average looking guy.
I think he's more on the ugly side. Different people, different tastes.
I think he looks like a downy
It’s only deadly looks I suppose
@@ricostonehomeboymusic6814 😁😁😁
His is the face that ONLY a mom can love!
This is an example of what entitled brats can do. They feel the world owes them.
Exactly.
Example, Trudeau.
Joran fits that bill perfectly.....
@Gary Kreil good one! he's the kind to let his people starve.
@jacobzaranyika9334 *NOT true* AT ALL. Joran was born angry/explosive. We do not know why that happens, but it does. It's like "We need to talk about Kevin", a film that will make you question why a child can turn out this way. You know, it's fine to say "They need to be put to death" etc. But that doesn't give you the right to jusr say bullshit like "it was him being an entitled brat". Prisons are stuffed with people who were nothing but abused and neglected, nothing near any entitlement at all, and the most entitled children (and adults) never turn out like Joran. Joran needed to be in psychiatric care, and he did see a psychiatrist long before his encounter with Natalee, because his parents sent him to one. And he was diagnosed with having psychopatic OR sociopatic tendencies. He didn't see the psychiatrist after a couple of visits, because he didn't like to go there. His parents should have MADE him go. There really ARE MANY nonviolent and nonforceful ways to make your minor son go to a psychiatrist when he doesn't want to, but they didn't make him. Now does this mean his parents are criminals for that? No, they *NEVER* thought he was a KILLER. They thought he was a gamble addict and a thief, as in: stealing from his PARENTS, because of it. We *HAVE* at look VERY *DIFFERENT* to crime, if we WANT to *PREVENT* it from happening. Children, youth and even adults are a care of *EACH AND EVERYONE OF US.* We can prevent many crimes, not all, but many. *Joran would NOT have killed, if he was cared for better, with some restrictions - that THIS didn't happen is NOT being an "entitled bratt".* Also, it was NOT his FATHER who took out the body, but it WAS his father who got WRONGLY accused of it FOR YEARS, and HE losed his life because of that never ending harassment, at age 56 - HE was A *VICTIM TOO,* but even after his death people wouldn't stop telling the lie that HE did that.
The father also covers his son wrong actions... What kind of person is that?
The kind that spoils, coddles and covers for their son all along, and ends up with a little sociopath
A judge
How do you think he became like this? Such children were always spoiled by their parents and "saved" from all kind of situations. Usually it starts in school with small things like forgetting the homework or with their children bullying someone and with the time escalates... Some parents don't understand their role and how much their actions destroy their children's life and so many besides theirs.
One without a consience..
Guess who Joran got it from? 26:27
A father
Her dad's gut feeling was right. He should have never let her go. But this is on that horrible monster. RIP Natalie
the other dad tho... why would he protect the son, and let his child live a life of lie??
Parents often worry for their children, at least the good ones. It can always happen something, even 1 mile away from home. One cannot stop children living their life just because you worry. The only thing you can do is tell your children to be careful and always, always travel in groups and not separate and maybe show them some of these episodes! More than that... after they are 18.... it's difficult.
@@jeanny4204 It is only natural instinct for a parent to protect his/her child ALWAYS. We think we will not do such a thing, not for our (adult or minor) child too. Until we are 'there', met with these circumstances. But his father is not the one who "helped" him to take the body out. His father helped him by telling him what to say, and way more "important": what *not* to say. His father knew the law, that was his literal job: he was a lawyer and also in training to become a judge, but being a parent and protect your own flesh and blood is your "literal job" too. It is not right, but you will only understand when you are put in these circumstances.
Nothing can comprehend the sadness and the lost of Nathalee's family. She's just another girl who was about to explore her adult world however Joran robbed her of that future. Watching this video give me chilled in my spine thinking this could happen to my youngself and any of my friends back then. We were young and innocent. I pray may God give Nathalee's families strength and peace to overcome this lost.
Then he and his Indian pals began to POINT fingers at black locals as the "real killers"....
why only mention Nathalee's family and not Stephanie's, or didn't you watch the whole doc?
@@Stichting_NoFap are you alright?
Why FBI never go out ocean and check around the island i feel her body is out there .
@@annaleiseballah6521 ya, it is queit frustrating....
This is why the hookup culture is very dangerous. You're trusting a complete stranger to buy you a drink or take you somewhere. And like a russian roullete, you'll never know if you'll meet a monster like Joran. This trip would have been fun and memorable for her if she stayed with her friends. I was a teenager once and never have I ever left a bar with a complete stranger. I stayed with friends and never talked or flirted with strangers.
Totally agree but still this is not an excuse for this monster to kill her !!!!
Well russian roulette would mean an equal likelihood between the two options. But the likelihood that the man doesn't have bad intentions is 99,9 %. It's fine that you consider hooking up with strangers improper but please stop lumping together each and every man. Most men are just as decent as most women.
@@YlL-ji2sl That's why I used the russian roullette analogy because I know that there more men out there are not murderers. Not lumping you all as serial killers because one of you might be. Whether you end up dead or getting laid, the hook up culture is never healthy for both sexes.
@@lorddieter4415 die a little...two girls died that way only in this episode. You can live without putting your life and health in danger!
She was drugged
What a sad case!! 28 years for two lives that he took!! sadistic Joran!
The catalogue of failures from all the authorities including the FBI are the reason why to this day we don't have her body or at least know what happened to her. I don't feel sorry for Van Sloot's father dying of a heart attack, of course his heart couldn't take the weight of guilt he felt for his role in covering up the murder

NO Disrespect to the Holloway family, stories like this aren't new to me. I've studied, criminal psychology for years and as a father of two daughters I KNOW what I'm capable of, should ANYTHING happen to 1 of my girls. The MINUTE I saw the hotel footage and her NOT being dropped off id KNOW, HE WAS LYING. He'd THEN be in MY CARE the remainder of the evening and by sunrise id HAVE THE TRUTH or hed take it TO HIS GRAVE. God Bless the victims, and their family and friends.
It's not new to anyone.
Well, her mother flew out first, IIRC, and the father followed. So, her beating a confession out of him was out. But, where did you get the idea that you'd get left alone that first night to interrogate the suspect anyway? His father was a big wig lawyer on the tiny island, and the police were happily covering up for the son, so... with all due respect, your musings are unrealistic.
@@stephendaedalus6192 With all due respect. IF u was her father, my wife or x etc WOULDNT GET THERE FIRST. Then, knowing he's got direct involvement in my daughters disappearance, I'd bide my time. He'd be alone, eventually... let's just say, they we'd have a little heart to heart. You see, I'm no youth, no armchair warrior, and I don't sit too close to the TV screen, indulging on fantasy. My level of morality supercedes, money, politics, etc. I'd get the job DONE even if I was asked to stay another 20 years on the island, if you get my drift...

32:02 you could have taken a picture to show him, to identify the body, why take him to the gruesome scene. Great detective work
This guy escalated...
He's crazy!
I'm so mad.
So many girls could have been saved...

It's strange that some americans could think that outside of the USA and maybe the Netherlands someone should know the name of the victim or the case.
These are all the reasons I have never gone to a party or even a club before. Or even go on camping, it freaks me out. I don't stay out late or anything
Shouldn’t be scared of life…. Class trips to another country for grade 12 or similar age is stupid. Almost made the mistake of going when I was a grade 12….. a girl ended up getting raped
His father just might be even more despicable than him.
I feel so much sorrow for Natalie’s parents..this psychopath psychologically terrorised them. How could any parent bare such torment? RIP Natalie ❤🌹🙏
This guy got away with so much. The government dropped the ball. His father was disgusting POS

And your information comes from this paid for by the holoways documentary. Youvknow nothing about van der sloot famiky and how they were raised.
I'm soo sorry about Natalie Holloway's disappearance. I can't believe it is such a long time. It used to be on the news in the USA & other countries including mine via Cable TV. I cried because her father & mother gave her a lecture about drinking before she left for Aruba & she did anyway, that got her into trouble. There's nothing she could do when the physcopath told her that they were going by the sea to watch sharks because the drugs in her drink already took effect in her body. I hope all young girls including young adult women will be careful not to eat or drink from strangers, at home or abroad. A word to the wise is sufficient. May that physcopath rot in prison. He was a spoilt brat because his father shielded him in his wrongs & that's why he continue to do what he did. Also the father, I think had all the police department in his pocket.
My heart breaks for the Holloways. May the Lord give them grace in good time.
why only mention the Holloway family and not the Flores, or did you not watch the whole doc?
The storey left one importsnt thing out: crimereporter Peter R de Vries did an incredible thing that even brought him a price. They invested time in a frendship between Joran and a frend of Peter and after having reached the trustlevel Joran told him in a car wich was full of camera's that they had put something in her drink but since she was a very very short girl it probably was to much for her little body and that she passed out on the beach. He freaked, didnt know what to do and hide hr under some bushes, went back to his 2 frends and tbey went to pick up the body and threw her in the sea. Its also true that there is a place with sharks so she might have turned up as food for the sharks.
Then with the peruvian woman he stated that she wasnt on his facebook but yes on his computer where she found PROVE (personal, in foto's or documents ) that he did kill Natalie and eithr she confronted him with it or he came out of the shower and saw that she saw it i don't remember but that's when he decided that he had to kill her or otherwise she would tell the authorities and he would be screwed.
I thunk you must be able to find the priicewinning confession of Joran when Peter R de vries outsmarted him..
Greetings from Holland

This is a lesson to all Parents never allow or send your Daughters to other countries... We never know the consequences, you never know while you allowing them to go anywhere they want... Your putting your Daughters into danger... And also you must give an advice to your daughters not to drink and to talk to the Strangers, never trust, never go to casinos/Bars/Clubs, never accompany to the Strangers...
To have daughters is not easy. Sad but true. The problem is they dont always listen or take advise. 😥
The GHB (date rape drug), lowers inhibitions and judgement, before it paralyzes your body, but you remain conscious; you have a spitting headache the next day and loss of memory, that takes awhile before you may remember snippets of that time. A truly horrible drug that was used on my young widowed friend in Ottawa, Ontario. It is a scary drug that you cannot taste when dropped in your drink; it is used because victims can be easily controlled and rarely remember details to convict the rapist.
I have two daughters
And I had repeated ad nausem the same speech over and over and over, held my breath and crossed my fingers everytime they walked out the door until they came home
And yes the same for my sons
But at 17 with their toe on adulthood? Its a fine fine line..you have to loosen those reigns a bit and pray it sunk in
How many of the 7 chaperones stayed behind in Aruba to look for Natalie? How many friends of Natalie stayed in Aruba to look for her? No mention of them in this documentary.
"Van der Sloot" can be translated in English to from the ditch. He's back where he belongs.
That actress who plays her is absolutely stunning, such beauty and very feminine. I live in Holland where that trash Joran is from here people despize him.
Meanwhile in the US: every zero point whatever second someone is being shot

you should watch Peter R de vries with subs about Koos H he killed 9 kids 3 attempted to murder that was a crazy one

How these girls' parents manage not to take out a hitman on somebody like this I will never understand.
I believe the spoiled ,entitled monster is suffering more in the conditions of that prison; his father didn't teach him skills to survive on his own.
Rest in peace Natalie and Stephanie.

@@crystalreed5143 yes and her friends let her go in the car with strangers. You look out for one another
I totally agree
My God bless Her soul and her family find her.
Very sad story
Yes there should be guilt on many levels. Her friends should not have left her full stop. They were leaving the next morning.
What about she should have not went with a stranger instead of leaving her friends? It is not the duty of her friends to mother her. Both of her parents told her not to take drinks from strangers and she ignored them, most likely ignored her friends as well. And no, she didn't deserve to be killed, but she acted dumb and put her life in danger.
Yes...same with the other girl...guess when you are young you think nothing will happen to you
Not only the victims that we feel sad for, also the new wife, what sort of low self esteem does she and all the other women that hook up with murderers in prison have, really sad that they can't get help for their evident psychological problems.
ilse, it doesn't matter which country Natalee disappear from because there are bad people everywhere who are involved in all type of crime & violence. Tourists & persons from the diaspora have disappeared all the time in my country. All I do, is sympathize with their families. It could be any one of our family members or relatives too.
one of the worst prisons? That's a joke, it is a hotel compared to the real bad prisons like on Madagaskar.
Poor parents and poor girl! You know, over and over and over, the shoes get washed, get lost etc! For me, my children are students, a holiday alone in Cape Town with friends, driving or flying there, is a huge huge huge NO. You're young, you're naive, you don't know the area, you don't know the crime, you're an inexperienced driver. We live in dangerous times. Their life experience is limited, they don't drink at all, nor frequent bars or night clubs, because in all honesty, EVERYTHING goes wrong where alcohol and clubs are concerned. So, call me stuck up or old fashioned, you can have ALOT of fun at a coffee shop. Strangers are a huge NO. Even people you know, can unhinge. Stay where it's safe! 🙏🙏💐 Condolences to the families. My motto is, if you're having a barbecue with friends and they binge drink, excuse yourself and leave! They say, you are only young once, but you only have one life to live! So look after yourself!
If a guy asked me, and a stranger, do you want to go see the sharks at night, I'd ask him, what on earth for? No, thank you! Tip nr 2, don't drink with a stranger. Tip nr 3, if you have to drink, do it in a safe environment.
Of course murder made him famous, all killers know that.

It remains my firm belief that - in the best interest of their children and society at large - old school parents should rather be obeying their own gut instincts; this instead of being swayed towards giving in to financially support of their children to engage in the latest popular trends.
Much better for young adults to rather have something to look forward to in future; for them to be broadening their horizons, and venture out on extravagant excursions when they are more mature - at a stage when they are able to fund it themselves.

It has nothing to do with nationality.
Everywhere in the world, there is a fascination about people incarcerated...
