- Jack the Ripper - The case is undoubtedly the most infamous murder-mystery in history. Jack the Ripper is the name given to the unidentified serial killer that murdered and mutilated five female prostitutes in London in 1888. While there have been over 100 theories presented on the Ripper’s true identity, renowned “Ripper ologist” Martin Fido suggests that a violent, anti-social man named “David Cohen” is the true killer, partly because of Cohen’s incarceration at an insane asylum happened to coincide with the end of the murders. Although various letters were sent to the press by the alleged killer, one with a human kidney, the case of the Ripper murders will possibly forever remain unsolved.(1888)

This was actually better than I expected. A lot of the Ripper videos have cheap production values, but I found the characteristization, the psychotherapist and Tom Wescott's commentary excellent. Interesting about the theory of the Ripper survivor. New evidence to me.
i said the same thing, this was EXCELLENT !
He will never be forgotten it will never be solved and all true crime fans like myself are absolutely absorbed by it
Well said.
@@aksharayadav6916 thank you
Can't remember where I was in 1888 but my alibi checks out I wasn't in White Chapel in 1888
Cohen is not Jack the Ripper. It is Mary Jane Kelly's "friend" and former room mate Joseph Barnett. Jack the Ripper locked the room with a key after killing her. A key that Joseph said he had lost. Jack also took Mary Jane's heart as if to say her heart belongs to me and mutilated her face as if he wanted to erase all memory of her very existence to himself.
Yeah, i thought the same. But we have another perspective too. What if it was George chapman ( a man who know surgery, also homicidal, he was suspected to steal uterus from those destitute womens to sell it to dr. Francis tumbley.) And very importantly the murderer was said to posses surgical accuracy. The last murder took place when tumbley was in police custody. To save tumbley, Chapman ( could be the ripper ), as he is aware of whitechapel area and he must be aware of mary kelly and her relationship issues with her roommate. So he may want to distract the issue so he stole her heart leaving uterus. In other victims, uterus was carefully removed. So the murderer was able to remove organs without any damage to the organ. Is it could be barnett or someone else or chapman ?.
Great Documentary, on One of The Best Stories in History!!!🍷🎩🍷🎩🍷
Thank you this was a great doco.
Thanks for new upload
The killer has been found out to be charles lechmere and he didn't stop in 1888. He continued including the thames torso murders. There's a great book about it called cutting point
He wasn't found out at all. There's no solid evidence against Lechmere except that he used his step fathers surname in the investigation. It's purely assumption, also there are eye witness accounts of the ripper that actually exist. None of them fit Lechmere's appearance, furthermore why would lechmere bring attention to Polly Nichols body. Makes no sense. It's just elaborate imagination, nobody knows who the ripper was. I wouldn't even say anyone of the suspects was the Ripper.
The real Jack the Ripper is actually Joseph Barnett. There is no connection between Lechmere/Cross and Kelly while Joseph and MaryJane were in fact room mates. He was in loe with her, she used him because she didn't like living the way she had. And yes, Jack te Ripper is also the Thames Torso murderer. It's very unlikely for a serial killer to change his modus operandi, however every serial killer is unique
Leave Them Alone Jack 😢😢
this is one of the best vids on him, i've seen. great job!!
It certainly wasnt the elephant man.
Always wanted to know who he was the Golden Olden old school killer made it to the Docs in 2023
@25:05 Mr. Wescott has it wrong. "The Jews are the men that will not be blamed for nothing" has a very simple meaning. JtR intends to convey that he expects the Jews would be blamed for Stride's murder, and not attributed to JtR, because of where she was found, and thus threatening his, silent notoriety. So if this were to be the case, the Jews being blamed, then at least it would be something grandios, or something he feels the men at the club are incapable of doing. This is why it ultimately does not matter that JtR was cut off early in Stride's murder by the arrival of the club's owner. This is about JtRs expectations of blame concerning Stride's murder which to some extent troubles him. It's all in the wording.
Swanson, set up as a convenient distraction. The shawl was handled too many times for any dna relevance
The shawl proves only one thing, Catherine was a prostitute and has had sex with Aaron Kosminsky at some time in the fall of 1888 but we already knew this
These guys never stop until they are stopped by capture or by death
My guess is he was killed or died shortly after the last victim
Jack the Ripper died in 1926
Ummm that is NOT Catherine Eddows! That’s a photo of Lizzie Borden - the 19th Century Axe Murderer from Fall River, Massachusetts
Stupid American, sort your own murders out and don't tell Scotland Yard what to do
Um is not a photo

Jack The Ripper obviously hated women hence being his targets. Im no professional in psychology or profiling but its obvious Jack had issues with women throughout his life whether that be failing in courting women or being cheated on or it stems from a lack of nuturing from his mother while growing up. No excuses but it does possibly explain his hatred and gruesome murders of his victims
I don't think he hated women, it was simply just that they were easy targets. Much like the Yorkshire ripper who targeted women for the same reason.
Jack didn't hate women, only prostitutes so Aaron Kosminsky who was known to visit prostitues is therefore innocent but Joseph Barnett is the real killer. He was Mary Jane's room mate and he was in love with her, well obsessed with her and she never really liked him. But she was fed up with her life as a hooker and used Joseph to get off te streets but soon she realised what a nasty man he was. Manipulative, dominating, she wasn't even aloud to leave the house without him because of his jalousy and fear. Joseph killed the prostuues to scare Mary Jane to get off the streets and return to him. After Mary Jane fell in love with another woman Joseph killed them.Joseph butchered Mary Jane's face beyond recognition because he wanted to erase the memory of her face to HIM. He also took her heart as if to say your heart belongs to me. After he killed Mary Jane he locked the door of her apartment with the only key to the apartment which Joseph claims he had lost. Joseph, her former room mate was Jack the Ripper.
Very possible.@@t-bonejay8050
@@cormacmcquillan828he hated women. He stabbed living fuck out of them. I reckon he had mammy issues. Personally I think lechmere/cross killed polly. Take into consideration that all cops had set beats at night time. To get into bucks row and out without been seen means jack was very lucky not to be seen or perhaps he was still in the area. Lechmere was found over a still warm polly
Too many uhhhhhhhhs ummmmms so bloody annoying.
there is evil in this world
Oh hear my warning
Don't turn your back
I'll Attack! 🔪
Judas Priest. The Ripper
Since the killer is out there they know about him, but still they are going out on the street, well who nah hear will feel and die foolishly.
If you have no money for a bed or food, what are you going to do? There was no social security then, or government looking after people. There were people who actually collected dog poop as a profession. Not saying times are easy now, but educate yourself on their lives (there are loads of clips on Victorian London), and you will find they had no choice.
@@MsZoedog66 Your life is more precious than money and everything else, there are other things they could've done to make a dollar in those days, so don't give me that nonsense those women just wanted to make faster money by selling their bodies so they didn't care about the danger that lurks in the next corner and just like they didn't care so was the ripper, I am not saying he had the right to killed them because that's wrong and pure heartless wickedness, but they were groove to sell, he was groove to kill, so he knew that they can't resist their promiscuous lifestyle so he prey on that. And in God's eyes there's always a way to get by but in sin that leads to unexpected death many will stay and die in their sins.
This monster probably long time dead
Yeah 😅 probably been dead 100 years.
