- The original “Killer Clown”, Gacy is widely thought to be the inspiration for the terrifying and nightmare inducing Stephen King character, Pennywise the Clown. Gacy’s death count totals 33 young men and teen boys, most of whom he buried in the crawl space beneath his home. An active member of his community, Gacy often dressed up as a clown to perform for charitable events and parties. He’d lure his victims to his house, many who were underage, with the promise of giving them alcohol. After they were drunk, he would handcuff them claiming he wanted to demonstrate a trick from his clown routine. After they were bound, he would viciously torture and sodomize them before ultimately strangling them to death. In May of 1994, he was executed by lethal injection.(1972)

23:37 "...Rignall spends 3 days staking him (Gacy) out" This is different from previous accounts. The way I know this story, he spent 5 or 6 days in the hospital, and then 4 months with a friend (off and on as they had to work) looking for Gacy before they spotted his car. This guy was determined. Not sure why this doc says he found him so fast. Rignall suffered unimaginable torture. I think it's only fair that we tell his story as accurately as possible. He was GD hero IMO.
This is really a story about bad policing. If the local police had bothered to investigate all those missing teenagers he would have been stopped so much sooner.

This was really well done!! Creepy & unsettling!! The re-enactments were really good too. John Wayne Gacy & Ted Bundy are similar in that they were both killing during the 1970’s and they would each in their own way get to know their victims before killing them. The obvious difference was Bundy killed young girls and Gacy was into the young men and teenage boys. Dahmer liked African-American &Asian boy’s primarily. All truly heinous monsters who got what they deserved in the end. This is really morbid but somehow fascinating stuff I find . Imagine what could have been if the police had believed those two men who had been so brutally assaulted by this monster..I remember seeing pictures of Rignall on another doc about Gacy and he was in very hard shape...He should have been thrown in jail then...maybe many lives would have been saved
