- Hi guys and welcome to the channel Jury Rig Garage! We are officially announcing our plans to L67 swap this 1998 V6 Camaro, named Project F. It's currently got a 3.8 L36 motor and a T5 5-speed manual transmission with 3.23 rear gears. Our plans are to swap in a cammed L67 with a ported supercharger, intake manifold and cylinder heads! Check out our build spreadsheet below in the description. Stay tuned for more... and boost!

I love it. Love the concept of the channel, love the fact that you're doing something different...love that you're having fun with your friends too! And I agree too "LS builds have been over done". Project F looks very clean too.
Thanks! We're really excited too!
I love when people go against the grain and build something cool and different and these 3800s are a great motor for it my old 380p Impala is surprisingly fast for what it is. I mean it dont break necks but it smashed alot of Ricers and Several other V6 Stangs and Camaros and it gave my buddies STI Subie a good ass run lol it was my daily get to work run around Grocery getter I've owned over 50 cars in my life but that shit ass old impala still had a special place in my heart lol and I still actually have it to this day more or less a yard ornament but it made it to 400k before any major issues started up on it
wow 400k miles on a original engine is an definitely an achievement for any American car. Thats awesome dude. Wwas yours an SS?
I wanted to do this with my v6 firebird. Hell yeah
Same
That's the easiest swap you can make, don't even need to change electronics, just a reflash.
Honestly it sounds pretty good i ended up getting a dark blue 2002 Camaro v6 as my first car and i still got it rn
Actually just bought a 99 Camaro V6 - 5 speed 3800. Got to replace the tranny mount. Would love to see this turbo in action. Good luck
Any plans to turbo yours?
Nice, my first Camaro was a 99 V6 5 speed with T tops.
Nice! Wish we had t-tops. Although we might be a bit dryer without them haha.
@@JuryRigGarage Lol everything was wrong with my first car from the engine that blew in 6 mo to the bent exhaust tips, but my T-tops didn't leak even when power washed and I heard most had that issue. Was the one thing good about it lol. Its sat for 5 years. May start rebuilding it now.
My 1st car was a 98 Camaro 3.8 5 speed and I really enjoyed it I added an intake,headers/full exhaust, added 373s,ported/polished the TB,upgraded the pump and injectors. It was definitely fun for a first car back when I was 20 years old but 14 years later and I’m on my 4th 4th gen Camaro with the last 3 being SS models and I simply just love these cars!!
@@TheBassking86 Nice, got my first V8 Camaro a few months ago. It's a 5th gen 2SS, had a 5th gen V6 before this one but it hydroplaned and ended up totalled. Worked out for the better in the end since I finally have my dream car. I still want a LS1 4th gen to make into a drag car tho.
Low 13's in a 1/4 mile is actually quite nice for a FWD 3800 Supercharged V6!
I would like to install the top end off a gtp on my 3.8 camaro. I was wondering where you got the throttle body elbow from?
The only way you should be teaching someone is drive stick, is by not letting them use the gas. 5 minutes tops and they should have the hang of it. This is the best way to learn.
I’m doing the same thing with my 97 firebird from the L67 from my dads gtp/gtx grandprix. Gon be a fun ass car
Nice!
Just picked up a 98 V6 Camaro Automatic Ttop
What song is at the end?
I got a 13.6 in my grand prix with just a 3.35 pully headers and a tune one drag radials
unprofessionals only yep we’re pretty excited to see what we’ll be able to run.
Yeah, see, this is what i wanna do with this v6 4th gen Camaro i've got in the yard, have some fun with it then give it to my bro who's just gotten into cars especially thanks to his major love of '90s stuff.
I’m getting ready to buy a Camaro V6 base model and I’m thinking about selling my Bonneville SLE, how was your experience with your Camaro compared to your Pontiac?
Yo you guys inspire me I was looking for a z28 but recently found a v6 and supercharging or turbocharging it sounds like a good idea
2800 to 3k for a decent firebird or camaro v6 manual with 150kish miles.. or v6 new edge mustang in Florida
@@chronicawareness9986 I got a v6 Camaro with 152666
Those two motors are vastly different, intake, heads, injectors etc... but cool idea, I hope it rips
Lots of people do this swap. We’re not using the camaros engine, we sourced a L67 out of a Grand Prix. You might want to check out our other videos, lots of it is explained. We also have a spreadsheet for the build with all the parts we’re using.
Yeah I saw the other videos after I made that comment, good shit guys
@@JuryRigGarage just did the same to my firebird. i used the l67 heads and made plugs for the injector ports in the heads, intake and everything bolts right back on, i used green loctite and oversized metal plugs. if you can source the series III 3800 heads. the intake and exhaust valves are oversized compared the the l36 and l67 valves. im gonna use a holset hx40 super for my turbo setup, and maybe using the plugs i made as port nitrous points
Nice man
Thanks!
I have the same camaro 99 3.8 im getting a turbo any suggestions on brand and Psi?
There's a kit on eBay we've been looking at: www.ebay.com/itm/CAMARO-FIREBIRD-3-8L-3800-T4-HOT-PARTS-TURBO-TURBOCHARGER-KIT-750HP-93-02-F-BODY-/153451388307?oid=183184041132
There are a few people on instagram we follow who have turbo 3.8s, check out mor_boost and boosted.firebird
Cx racing
Check out zzperfomance on here. They got you
Yo i have a L36 2000 firebird 5 speed with the 3800 series II but idont know what tremec model it is. Can anyone help?
That should have come with a T5 world class
Bro I'm about to get me a camaro it's same color just it's automatic and soft top it's also a 2001 but still a nice car.
Hey can u find valve covers for the 3800 s2? I can't find any aftermarket ones. I ever called my local performance shop the only thing they carry is a timing cover. Lol and summit racing doesn't have anything but cam kit witch is like 700$.
ZZP has some aftermarket metal valve covers.
@@JuryRigGarage awesome to know man. Thanks a lot. Hope you guys get that f body up soon. Love the content.!
how would a fwd drive engine work in a rearwheel drive car
The 3800 series II in FWD applications is the same block found in the 3800 RWD cars (like the camaro)
I’m trying to figure out which 3800 engine I have???
I bought a 2002 Monte Carlo, tons of mods, no longer in contact with seller. I currently has a M90 Gen 5 turbocharger (the transmission appears to be the original Monte Carlo).
I spun a rod bearing and need a new engine??
What’s your advice.
Sounds like you have a series III L67. If it's a spun bearing any 3800 L67 block should work.
Jury Rig Garage thanks. I’ve heard L32 are stronger than L67 and it sounds like maybe, the same engine or mounts to the same. Not sure, but they sound the same.
Ayy in your bonneville does the stereo controls in the steering wheel still work?
I asked Tristan and he doesn't think they've ever worked haha
Okay, I may need some help here... I'm wanting to swap an L67 onto a 4L60E and drop it into my Datsun 280Z... If y'all can help me figure out what all I need, I'd greatly appreciate it!!! Thanks guys!!!
BTW, AWESOME BUILD!!!
Hey! Saw your message on facebook as well. A L67 powered 280z will be awesome! To put it simply you'll need the L67 engine, LS style mounts for a 280z, transmission, ECU from an auto camaro and you'll need to make a solution for the intake since the supercharger inlet will be facing the firewall. Also you'll need a solution for the thermostat housing, it'll be facing the rear as well
Chevy for life💪🏅🤞🙏
Is there a video of you guys working on the car?
No videos working on the camaro yet, we need to finish it's engine first. We'll have a lot of vids with the camaro soon, lots to be done.
@@JuryRigGarage Awesome! Thanks! Already got the shirt. Working on the mullet. Haha
@@wedgeantilles7731 Started the Camaro teardown! More to come.
thanks for sharing i want to put same engine in a Malibu
What year Malibu were you thinking
Love how guy mostly can’t drive stick lol 4gen camaros are great cars I’ve got a 95 with a 3.8 v6 and I love it. Fun car to drive !
If yall wanted to sell those taillights I would love to have them 😅 i have a 1997 purple 5spd camaro that is one out of 809 the only thing I'm missing is taillights and it will be done.
I daily drive a vs commodore which has an l36 which I turbocharged. Goes well.
fucken oath mate i swapped one into a vn so yeh its mint
@@UncleTyso 7 months on car is still going strong stock headgaskets and studs on 12 psi loving life
@@TheWretchedWorld ive dumped heaps of cash into it
im in red ps and ive put like 5k into it and it makes 350kw
We got little j Leno right there
Someone finally said it! Haha
I have a 02 camaro v6 ! 95k miles
The supercharger is going to need extensive modification to clear the firewall and the cowl. Follow @jhuntosgarage on instagram to see what it takes. Working on a full N/a 3.8 bird
I have to run cam 2 in mine I run. 19 psi
Do what?? Cam 2?
My buddy has a 2000 Camaro we put together a few years ago with a 50,000 something mile l67 with some pac valve springs some, mls head gaskets and ARP head bolts not studs besides the intake from the stock N/A 3800 and 80 pound injectors i think thats it and our other buddy fabbed up a single turbo kit with VS 67mm turbo and my old air to water intercooler controlled by a megasquirt gold box it runs on 93 pump gas and ignite e90 when its time to party the transmission and torque converter cost nearly as much as the car lol its got a powerglide with a manual valve body and t/brake with the metric adapter and a PTC 3400rpm converter its also got the last 10 bolt with 3.73 gear and strange axles from my Z28 before I swapped to a 12 bolt hes also got BMR upper and lower control arms and torque arm used strange single adjustable shocks he got from me and my stock rear z28 coils up front its got used eibach drag launch springs I cant remember what shock its all bolt on stuff. It has 17x4 black jegs ssr star wheels and 15x8 out back with either 245 or 255/60/15 Hoosier dragradials its never been on a dyno but its gotta be making atleast 400hp because it weighs 3250 with him in it and runs 6.80's in the 1/8 @ 101-103mph. Yes he could have put a 4.8 or 5.3 in it with around a 150 shot and go faster but we both got 1000+hp turbo lsx setups he just wanted to do something different and its actually pretty cool!
That sounds badass!
wow power it made??
Stock these things made like 200hp. Similar setup with the same turbo (GTX3582R) at 30psi makes over 600whp. You can make more power with less boost with a bigger turbo
I'm in WA lets race xD
We usually race at PIR. Keep an eye out on instagram, we'll post on our story when we plan to race
Updates on this build???
We're pretty much finished up with the Bonneville top swap series so we'll be able to return our attention to the Camaro soon!
Could you guys do this to my camaro?
Okay, I love rwd cars, but fwd cars still have their place in the performance world. There are still many things you can do with a fwd car, they are just not great at drag racing
FWD certainly has it's place, our main concern with the Bonneville is the transmission. The 4T65E-HD was known to break even on stock L67s.
Or drifting.
Didn’t watch all of it. But, instead of cutting the firewall for the supercharger , grab an aluminum 3.8 intake and turbo it.
We're actually not planning on cutting the firewall. We're going to fabricate a 180 degree intake elbow that will clear it. Our goal is to supercharge it then down the road add a turbo and twin-charge it!
I'm pretty sure this has something to do with a car
Just like the commercials say "shoulda had a V8." The Honda civic exhaust was spot on though.
In. Stall. The. L67. Already
We’re getting closer! We have a backlog of footage still working on posting. Check out our Instagram for up to date progress jury_rig_garage. We’re sending the block and heads off to the machine shop this month.
@@JuryRigGarage hi, is there a way I can contact you? I've got the same camaro and I'm looking to mod it, any info or help would be much appreciated.

Wife beater?? Dude, it’s White beater. 😂😂🤣🤣😂😂🤣🤣
Haha they can be called both, check it out on google 😂
lmao white beater makes absolutely no sense....it's the official uniform of trailer trash with domestic violence records hence the name
You’re not going to run anything close to high 12s by just adding the supercharger to a 3.8!! I mean my moms old 2004 Monte Carlo ss supercharged only made 240hp and 280 torque and ran low 15s so you’re gonna need a lot more than just a factory Eaton supercharger to get into the 12s
I mean of course nobody is running 12s with a stock 3.8l 😂 who would leave one of these stock?

drive the fucking car bro. push it.
Bruh we were flogging this thing when it was na
Push it's shit in ?
Wtf
LOL why? Just start with a V8 and all your problems are solved
SUPERNOVA we just wanted something a little bit different, we have plenty of V8s in our group including a few Fbodies.
I didn't see you swap anything? Title should read "picked up car with a lot of power that I can't even drive." You never even showed under the hood of the Camaro. Come on. You're better than that.
Not certain you watched the video or read the description or title. We picked this up to build ourselves
It's been 2 years you've had more than ample time to build this car. I want to see more than the spreadsheet. I want to see the ls killer that you used as clickbait. Put up or shut up.
Bruh this channel isn't all about the Camaro, we have several ongoing projects. We have a supercharged and 6R80 swapped Mustang, we built a 408ci Stroker LS motor and swapped it into our Trans Am, we completely rebuilt a Supercharged Bonneville SSEi and are about to put a built transmission into it. All the builds we done ourselves while working full time. If we had 2 years for specifically this car by itself I'd agree with you.
