I put about 150k miles on 3 lightnings so far since 2002.
One of the best most reliable trucks made.

Yes you need it. Said anyone with a brain. It does regular pickup stuff close to factory mpg. In boost mode 9-11mpg mid range gas. Keep it out of boost you will do closer to basic dum dum milage.

A good aftermarket intercooler a must, otherwise power is lost quickly.
I am still not sure why Ford did not equip these awesome performance trucks with an intercooler. Otherwise, these are perfect little trucks.
Mine was kicking ass almost 20 years old. Major mistake. You do not let Captain dumb dumb touch it. This MKE mechanic just ruined it. Lied for electrical damage. Sir you are wrong. I had to get extra physics fancy w him. Barely any info. I just took it in for new shocks and supercharger maintenance. Any fellow L owners you have to learn high end computer stuff to make it sound like this.

All gen 2 Lightning trucks 1999-2004 have a garret intercooler from the factory oem. In 2001 model year the intercooler was upgraded to 10 rows.

One of the harder to find colors for these, easily my favorite one too.

2001-2004 F-150 Lightnings are awesome - my favorite truck of all-time even! But I wouldn't go as far as to say the new Lightning is "crap." They're pretty cool too. Glad Ford brought the Lightning heritage back, and it just makes perfect sense since it's electric.

Buy it. You idiots. 2003 red. I get the three honks. Yes thank you you that is what mine sounded like. So depressing mechanic ruined mine to be factory 8 psi. I have cried so hard over all the electrical and engine damage that happened.
Edit: unless you are super poor no. Leave the Mint Lightning owners to buy more. I am so poor I only own one.
