- Here's the next video in our second Fast and Furious series! This 2001 Ford F-150 SVT Lightning was previously part of Jorge Acosta's massive F&F collection, but was sold to the owners at Proform Auto at which point it was stripped of it's "Racer's Edge" livery to make room for their own logo. A Clever marketing strategy if you ask me! While picking up Jorge's latest build, we had the opportunity to get behind the wheel and burn some rubber. Equipped with the new at-the-time 5.4L supercharged overhead cam V8 engine making 380 hp and 450 lb-ft of torque, this second-generation Lightning is one of the most polarizing American sport trucks ever made. I have an '04 with 50k. LOVE it! Kept it mostly original with just a few performance mods. Pushing 460hp to the wheels and 550 lbs.
I just purchased my late uncle’s 1999 for a killer price. What upgrades did you do to achieve the extra hp and torque?
@@Jam76958 6lb crack pulley, 2.7" supercharger pulley, Dynatech long tube headers, MSD ignition coils, single blade throttle body and the boost bypass kit with a good tune.

When he was arrested was not the last time the truck appeared in the movie, it was when he went to Hectors garage to look at the Civics. You don't remember, he had to go check out the Spoon engines with T66 Turbo's & Motec System Exhaust... Hectors garage was across the street from El Gato Negro... I had a 2000 model red Lightning & I live in Southern California so I used to drive it to Torreto's store & by the house as well... I would like to get another one as my first one had to be gotten rid of when it would no longer pass California SMOG....
Did you have after market parts that made it trouble to pass smog? I want to get this truck and live in SF CA
owned a 2003 ate front tire edges did not like winters but had a lot of pull overall liked the sound of supercharger
Beautiful truck's I was going to buy a 02 4 year's ago thing's went bad for me I had I heart surgery hopefully with in the future I can buy one.

Nope the Dodge RAM SRT 10 was. Those Viper engine built with twin turbos are insane fast. Plus the Viper engine makes more power stock than the Ford.

i wasn't going to respond but since i have a 99 f-150 i don't have a lightning but i do have lightning wheels on mine. i know the wheels don't make it run like a lightning but i have had mine on a few twisty roads and with those 9.5x18 inch wheels it is pretty quick for a truck. impractical im going to have to disagree. mine is a long bed and i can carry a harley or even my KZ in the bed very easily. it is a parts chaser since i'm building two trucks , one is a 1940 ford with a 4.6 cobra engine. the other is a 1961 f100 long bed. with custom suspension to also handle the road very easily. i'm still struggling with what engine i want. my main problem is i insist on having 500 hp without a turbo charger. my 99 is the parts chaser that's ok it still looks very cool.

Every car or truck in America at least has a data plate on the inside of the door sill or under the hood that states specifically the day it was built & rolled out & even which assembly plant built it...
Dammit ya'll are in Edmington Canada. Mine is red 03 No engine mods. For sell out of my dead hands. I only modified the sound completely. Competition level. The truck MAKES ABSOLUTE SENSE. Mine has close to submarined out hurricane evacuation. Hurricane Rita 05 no gas, supplies, cant buy anything. Sorry family you blew your radiator. Bye. My distilled water is the last thing I drink. I drove mostly Houston to San Antonio entire way in the grass. I had to make sure enough gas to turn around and let it get ruined at my friends house in Houston. I got gas in College Station. I will buy another one If some guy has not destroyed it. Most Lightning people own more than one!
I don't have a family I'm single and I do what I want. These are exceptional trucks. It is a special truck.
Cyclone no thanks unless I have a helmet. Mine can pull regular trailers. Cyclone no thanks using them for pickup things. Major issue is Cyclones can go 160mph. Suspension and how high ground clearance is. Not appropriate. They are good trucks, keep it below 100mph and it will be okay.
Best bonus is traffic melts out of my way if they hear the shrieking sounds, blasting red paint. It is like driving an ambulance.
5.4L supercharged V8 = payday to broke in 20 minutes.

It’s a rare truck, many and I mean MANY have been wrecked. It’s a fast truck, kids buy em and wreck em. Most aren’t even stock barely resemble a lightning anymore so might as well consider those a loss as well. Many people part out the cosmetics that help make it a lightning. They really are dwindling and have EXPONENTIALLY rose in price. What was a 9-12k truck semi stock 5 years ago is now a 15-20k plus truck in honestly poor condition. Good luck finding one stock to make your own build.
Again has this person seen the movie. It had another part in the movie when they get the parts for the supra and at no point did it have a chrome grill so really the is just a red Ford lighting

The four speed makes these truck undriveable. 93 is expensive and they ride around 2k rpm at 60mph
Check out the sport trucks ford and GM make in Australia. Holden utes are pretty much a two door Chevy SS with LSA motors in them. And ford falcons come with V8s or a turbo 4 litre straight 6, both are pretty cool

Nope the first gen had a NA 5.8L V8 and the second gen that is featured on this video had a Supercharged 5.4L V8

@@barrelsurfergirl4614 wasn't a real Lightning, it was a base model f150. They said many times thank god it's not a Lightning, because they'd hate to be cutting up a real one.
There's some that converted them because they said it made them feel more "sporty" so most say.
And now for is bringing back the lightning as an electric truck 😑😒

I've never wanted a Lightning truck, its not 4x4, and it's too heavy to be a fast car.....
Yet its fast as hell for what it is. It's light, small, and aero dynamic enough to give it an edge. Only down side is the 4 speed that just kills the gas millage and the dreaded third into forth that could blow your engine because of the odd gears.
