I think the industry generally didn't wanna put out such positivity as slum village and the like. There should always be a 'slum village, d12, pharcyde, Dilla, Tribe, Citizen Kane, De La Soul, Madlib, MF DOOM,' place in hip hop. But its more profitable to sell something else than young dudes having musical fun. These dudes my favourite emcees possibly. Made me question the way I like rap. That simplicity and off the dome messing around can be the best thing ever, its so personal and light hearted fun.

Slum is definitely one of my favorite groups and yes they are underrated. We also need to speak on how they always were able pull out stars ahead of time Dwele and then Kanye? Especially back then its not like today where you record and drop the track a week later. A lot had to be cleared so you know they got that Ye verse before that and timing was impeccable.

Hip Hop groups is always a bone of contention..most have split and gone their own ways. I guess that's just how it is in life, we go out the way we came in..by ourselves.

Dilla really had lyrics though. His handle of the microphone was only getting better by the day

Was lucky enough to see a slum village show in Sacramento a few years back. Respect to T3 for carrying on the legacy. I noticed that Young RJ vocals sound similar to Baatin so seeing the old songs live still have a good feel and sound.

Heard Fantastic Vol. 2 back in 2000. That along with Blackstar in 1998 and Common’s Like Water for Chocolate was the only hip hop I was listening to, I was starting to become disheartened by the end of the golden age

Very interesting. Proof that the original formula can never be replaced. Once Dilla went on, the group was never the same.
