    Certainly more inclined to join this one. I struggle with formatting a spread as a traditional artist. I have a scanner that will not scanner two page spread so I have to piece two pages together and getting it wrong is extremely frustrating 😫. But I think later today I'll get this! What do the deadlines look like? Thank you! Lots of love,

    • @ArtBusinesswithNess
      @ArtBusinesswithNess  Před 2 lety

      I feel you Heather! I bought a bigger scanner last year but before that had to stitch my illustrations for years including on one professional book, it is such a pain! The lessons will be delivered 1 per day for 10 days, after that the deadlines for the art challenge is 1 week per illustration. However, even if you don't finish, you can submit and will get critiqued on whatever stage you're at (sketch, or even just thumbnails!)

    • @heatherboyd2825
      @heatherboyd2825 Před 2 lety

      @@ArtBusinesswithNess so I'd get day 1 lesson do it, then send it to Facebook group? And do that everyday? And I just got a scanner but it's already problematic just to get it to connect properly every time. Thanks

    • @ArtBusinesswithNess
      @ArtBusinesswithNess  Před 2 lety +1

      No no, I'm so sorry I think my answer was worded in a confusing way. The lessons are delivered 1 per day, but the challenge and critiques don't start until after all the lessons are done :) So August 1st to 10th your receive your lessons - then the challenge start and you will have 1 week to do each piece. Makes sense?

    Hi' new subscribere here from Philippines. Can i ask if what kind of art style is the best for Children's Book? Thanks

    • @ArtBusinesswithNess
      @ArtBusinesswithNess  Před rokem

      There isn't one perfect style for picture books :) If you look in book stores you will see, there is a lot of variety! It's more important WHAT you draw than your style. Choose children appropriate topics, themes that appeal to children, with a focus on characters and storytelling.

  • @shaneosullivan4676
    @shaneosullivan4676 Před rokem +1

    This is wonderful advice to share. I wonder if anyone can help me with one thing which is is it a good or bad idea to have two different styles of illustration in one website portfolio as I like to work in a colourful children illustration style and a illustrated realistic style.

    • @ArtBusinesswithNess
      @ArtBusinesswithNess  Před rokem +1

      Hi Shane! It's very common for artists to love drawing multiple styles and to chafe at the idea of having to choose. Having just the one signature style can help you become more memorable, but in general having 2 styles won't hurt you if they're well separated and organized on your website. HOWEVER you must make enough pieces (at least 12) to demonstrate EACH style, and since different publishers will fit each style you'll have to do research for each as well. In general, I'd recommend starting with one just to simplify your life at first. You can always add another style later! Getting started in picture books is hard enough without going in on hard mode, you know?
