    You can purchase my Best Selling Single Plane Golf Swing book: amzn.to/41KdtA7
    You need the ability to rotate, bend and sidebend to produce motion in the body. But motion isn't enough. Being able to stop or "Brake" your motion is the key to power and speed.
    In this video you can watch Moe Norman swing the golf club in 4K upscaled video from Jim Suttie. He discusses his swing and what he does to be the greatest ballstriker to ever play the game.
    About the Single Plane Golf Swing
    The Single Plane golf swing is not a quick fix golf technique. It is a system, beginning at address, that simplifies the most important moment of the golf swing - impact.
    Starting at address on two planes where the arms hang straight down at address, the Conventional golf swing is complicated. Because the arms are hanging straight down, a conventional golfer must lift the body into impact creating stress on the back.
    This upward movement to accommodate the two planes is unnecessary.
    The Single Plane Golf swing simplifies the golf swing by eliminating the need for the upward movement by starting and impacting on the same plane.

      What was Moe like with a putter? To shoot the kind of scores he did, his overall game performance had to have a pretty fantastic short game. He was born to be a golfing icon. Have never seen anyone master golf but he was as close as was possible. Amazing. 8:55P

    Hi Todd, my mate Mike who’s a PGA pro said to me during a round that he thought I was a bit “Top heavy”. I’m 6’2” but my inside leg measurement is barely 30” so I’ve got a very long body. He gave me your book on the single plane and asked me to pay particular attention to the stability / wide stance aspect of the book.
    After reading your book I thought to myself that there’s no point in just adopting one element of your (Moe’s) model. I’m so happy I’ve taken on board your teachings as it’s opened up a world of really enjoyable golf for me. Thank you.

    I tried to mimic Moe’s swing back in the late 90s, and for a while I was hitting the ball pretty good, then all of a sudden it became inconsistent, I obviously was doing something wrong, but I really liked how it felt when it was working for me, I’m going to give it another try now with your help.

    Had great success with new swing. Played nine, hit every drive straight except 1. Didn't hit one five iron shot well, but other than that, hit everything straight. Would have shot 2 under if I could made some puts. Missed a 5ft birdie on last hole. Had 2 birdies, 2 bogies, on which one was a 3 putt. I felt like I was in dream land. I was having slicing issues before. I realized I was leaning forward on down swing. When I figured it out, it totally improved everything.

    I have nothing but respect and admiration for the late Moe Norman. For me, the interesting thing about his swing is that the way it feels to him is not way he's actually swinging. The positions he describes getting himself into don't match up with his real swing (except that follow through to his finish position.) He was definitely a feel player. If I worked hard enough I might be able to get some of his basics, but I'd never be able to match his commentary.

  • @joecurran
    @joecurran Před rokem

    Moe never let his back swing pull him out of shape and he always ended the swing with the same high pose facing the target, very effective and easy to mimic for anybody that struggles with consistency and especially with back pain.Try it you won't be disappointed.

    Now, i dont know for sure of what hogan actually did but in his book with the shorter clubs he had the lead foot turned out and back from the ball line, on the longer clubs he had the back foot pulled back away from the ball line. Middle clubs were square and lead left foot was splayed. Now the shoulders were always square or parallel to the ball target line. Really good video ty

    Can Moe hit a big draw or cut when he needs to? I’d love to see him work the ball. It’s funny cuz i naturally swing flat like Mo. “Flat back and attack” is my swing thought. always works. It doesn’t stop swing coaches from trying to get me more vertical tho. I think the most important thing to learn from Moe, is that it’s all about hitting the ball with the middle of the club consistently; naturally. That’s all that matters. Too many people get caught up in analysis paralysis these days, watching slow motion videos of their swings and such. All that does is give you sleepless nights. Thanks for all the Moe material, it’s a shame he isn’t referenced more in the modern game. Just feelings of greatness. 👍

    Appreciate the details you share. Moe is a great (maybe the greatest) ball striker, but what he explains doesn't always line up with what he does on his swing (feels vs real?) whereas, you break it down as clear as anyone I've seen do it.

    Tiger woods recently said that when he played or is playing his best, he takes no or little grazing Divots just like Moe. Thanks Todd I am starting soon on MOE'S original Grip in the palm of left (not fingers) no Knuckles seen top of same hand with top left hand knuckles facing Target and with right hand baseball Grip slightly on Strong side. Moe also has said he pulls a bit more with left hand. Hmm. Anticipation is killing me LOL😂

    • @ToddGravesGolf
      @ToddGravesGolf  Před rokem

      Tiger was planing the club better at that time I’m sure. There is an ideal angle of club approaching the ball. Shallow divots = less ground reaction of the club head. Moe understood this.

    So around the 3 min mark, you ask Moe about changing ball position with his wedges, is this something you recommend? I dont recall this in any previous videos, only adjusting the width of your stance. I clearly see Moe move the ball back about a ball to a ball and a half.

    • @ToddGravesGolf

    Hi Todd love the content! Been a subscriber for awhile now and I can seriously watch Mo hit all day. At about the 13:38 mark he talks about how the right arm never rolls over the left and he kind of shows a hold of position. Does the appearance of a forearm roll come from rotation of the shoulders? This is where I think I am getting it wrong I have always associated "release" with a roll of the forearms right over left. Trying to figure out the best way to accomplish this without holding it off is there a video that details this?

    • @ToddGravesGolf
      @ToddGravesGolf  Před rokem +1

      Torso Rotates, Right arm extends. Because the torso rotates, he the arm just extends. Rotation is only seen from the camera (observer) not the person swinging the club.

    Todd, In the side by side comparison Moe’s right hand is much more under the club than yours. Why is yours different since you copy the model. Which trail hand position do you recommend? Thanks

    • @ToddGravesGolf
      @ToddGravesGolf  Před rokem +4

      No, actually Meows right hand it is not more under the club. What you are most likely seeing is camera angle or that Moe places the club farther behind the ball. Here is what is important. The club aligns with the trail arm. (down the line view). The club aligns with the lead arm, face on view and The club face is on plane throughout the swing. These are the checkpoints for a perfect hand position. Tilt / before grip.

    • @davidmudry5622
      @davidmudry5622 Před rokem +1

      I'm having great results by doing just that. Right at address I have my right palm (trail hand) facing up to the sky and my left palm facing down to the ground, left knuckles and the club face facing parallel to the target line, hands ahead of the club head, forward shaft lean. Then on takeaway I keep all of that low and around back and low and around to impact. I even do that on chip shots and pitch shots. Give it a try and see if it works for you. By doing this at address my right shoulder automatically looks like Moe's at address, lower than the left shoulder, and I don't have to think about trying to remember to do that before a swing. On the chips shots this automatically puts my weight on the left leg, and I don't have to remember to do that. I'll never change this method, too many good results.
