    Reading so many stories about Moe in his younger life when introducing himself to the game of golf, then having to hide his golf clubs from his Dad must have put a huge strain on Moe back then, then when he was winning tournaments, there were no family members there to watch him must have made a huge effect to Moe's thinking! Moe has been kept away from the golfing world till Todd brought Moe's swing to the golfing world! Even to this day - if any of you golfers mention Moe Norman to your golf mates - most of them will say - you mean greg Norman! There you have it! The dedication this man showed in perfecting the golf swing should have been shown world wide long before he passed away!, yet it took a young guy that took an interest in Moe's swing as he noticed how straight Moe was hitting the golf ball every time in which he could not do! So without Todd's video's and footage of Moe - we golfers would have never have known the legion of the great great Moe Norman! Reading the comments from other golfers who I assume have mastered Moe's swing can't express their love for the guy who unfortunately did not meet as he was never shown to us till he sadly passed away! I love watching little Moe in the video's Todd pops to us golfers!
    I am sure I can speak for all the golfers who have started to use Moe's swing in thanking Todd for bringing Moe's name and his golf swing to the front!
    I do hope Moe can look down and see what Todd has created!! I feel for you Todd as you were with Moe all that time till he passed away, you must miss him so!

    I have been studying Moe and Todd's swing and I have mixed results in the holes I play, then I watch Moe (the master) and notice that he swings back the club below his shoulder in which I never seen Todd do, then I watch Bryston and he doe's not leave much of a gap between his drivers face and the ball he intends too hit like what Moe or Todd show us, as they leave at least 5 inches between club face and ball, so really it is up to the individual to find his/her key to this single plain golf swing that Todd has got the golfing world taken note! I am loving the swing that Todd has shown us, but with mixed results, But like all of you golfers out there - practice what set up suits you as we are all different as God made us! I can't swing like Bryston as I am a pensioner, so I will revert back to watching Moe! BUT a big thank you to Todd for his guidance and his hard work commitment in him showing us golfers out here - Moe's swing!
    I am sure Moe shall be watching you Todd with a BIG smile on his face! You do him proud and am sure you feel his presence each day! Thanks Todd!

    Just getting to know the fantastic Moe Norman story fairly recently. Fascinating man. And obviously loved hitting golf balls, playing golf from the heart as his ghost told him. I wonder did a couple of more conventional golf instructional aspects creep in in later life? He seems to have an open stance for his bunker shots (got to get me a sandy andy!) - he was probably rarely in bunkers in tournament play anyway, given his straightness and ability to work height to his advantage - and I wonder if I can detect an overlapping pinkie in later life also?

    Watching so many video's of Moe as he describes that the right hand is just on for the ride, yet when he is pitching he talks of the right hand following through to his intended target! This is where I get confused as I have always been a left handed dominant golfer and used my left hand on every shot! But I have changed my swing as Moe and Todd has shown us through so many videos and am more consistent , so I will give my short game this right hand treatment - wish me luck!

    I'm 65 and 3.5 index. I'm a good ball striker and I practice a lot. This past year I've copied about 3 elements of Moe's swing. I can tell you in my seven rounds so far in 2021 I've hit more great shots than ever, and my misses aren't as bad. Of course I still know how to find the impact position but I'm doing it much more effectively. But one of the keys about Moe that most people miss is that he NEVER took a shot with doubt in his mind. Every bad shot I took this year were when I had an element of doubt (not sure if I had the right club, worrying about hitting it into a bunker, not lined up properly etc.). That was part of his genius. And hitting millions of balls. I'm at the range every day still learning.

    • @GravesGolf
      @GravesGolf  Před 3 lety

      That's awesome! Love to hear those success stories. With regard to pre-shot routine, Todd Graves always talks about the "Red Zone" and "Green Zone." The Red Zone is reserved for assessing the shot, and the Green Zone is for executing the shot without hesitation. If that doubt creeps up in the Green Zone, you back out and go back to the Red Zone until you feel comfortable. When you're confident with your assessment, you say "Got it," and enter the go zone. As far as alignment, try to find an intermediate target on the ground a few feet ahead of you that you can easily align to your club face. Here's a video with Todd's tip for swing thoughts and a "pre-shot trigger" to help you focus your attention on executing the shot czcams.com/video/NEMdvZnqIg4/video.html

    Moe would have been the person I gravitated to if I was new at the course and did not know anyone. I am like Moe in a way, but with bowling. I never won any tournaments because I did not compete. I was self-taught and was a scratch player 2 years into picking up the game at 20 years old. I have multiple 300 games in and out of league play in my first 4 years of picking up the game. Averages were 211 and shot high 600s low 700 series 5 days a week in leagues across 3 bowling centers. Since I could not afford to bowl that much I Subbed in leagues 5 days a week and always got a spot that is free for the sub! I've bowled thousands of games to develop my swing or style as it is known. On the weekends you guessed it I was a bowling machine since I worked at the bowling center I got 3 free games per day, then I would hit the "rock and Bowl" from midnight to 2 am all you can bowl for $15 per pair of lanes. I would go by myself and run the shot absolutely dry. I have worn out bowling equipment since I was always buying used balls from the pro shop and getting them plugged and redrilled due to not being able to afford new equipment. I went on to win a decent start in life gambling and Pot bowling. I have bowled the best in my region and Michigan was a huge bowling state back in my heyday. Anyway, long story short I am getting into golf now Moe has captured my imagination because I feel like he and I have something in common, and Like him, my bowling style was all natural no stress no pain I made it how my body worked. I could bowl game after game set after set other people's backs or arms would start to give but not mine I let gravity do all the work. I can step into a center today and walk out with no pain my ball speed may be slower but I still got it. I want to do the same with golf make my swing all-natural for me, and Moe is showing me the way. Thank you Moe

      That is because there is no universally agreed method of swinging the golf club. One teaching from one person would contradict another.

    That's really interesting what Moe was saying about the way putters were made and that it would have made a difference to the way he would have played today!..I've always wondered, was there such a thing as club fitting back in Moes day?..I wonder that because of his unique one plane swing.. Especially with the lie angle needed to achieve the correct contact with ball and ground?!
    Thanks again Todd with your amazing insight to The great Moe Norman.

      The only club fitting back then was lead tape and thicker grips and grinding the iron s to fit your swing ,they were always as they said tinkering with their clubs to get the right feel

    In an early video of Moe he stated that the right hand in only on the club for the ride, yet when you watch him pitching he seems to be following through with the right hand?

    • @natgolfpro1
      @natgolfpro1 Před 3 lety

      It's all about the right hand. No matter the club, his right hand dictated his straight down the line follow through. He makes it simpler than what is being taught by anyone.

    I’ve watched this video twice now and still can’t tell so I have to ask, for pitches anywhere that isn’t a full swing, which method should we use. I can’t tell if moe is just shortening his full swing or if he’s using the short game method you guys teach of opening the body. Could you please provide some Insight on this?

    Hi Todd - just wondering in general when people switch to the single plane swing do they need longer clubs in comparison to the ones they would use for the conventional golf swing? Many thanks

      I've been doing it for years and am a clubmaker. My answer is No. My irons are more upright than before, though.

      @johnathanwetherill456 Před 4 lety

      No . You might have to adjust the lie . I swap between conventional and single plane every now and the and use the same clubs .

    • @blacklionengineer3274
      @blacklionengineer3274 Před 4 lety +1

      I do the single plane swing and were my irons are a used set from a buddy that is taller than me I actually have cut down my driver and my wedges are standard. I only started golf last summer and went to single plane due to serious physical issues so as to not have stress on my body. I can hit 200 balls and shoot 18. With the conventional swing I was hitting +8 I just did a round 2 days ago and made par. If you really want to look at a dominating single planer Bryson DeChambeau is the man on tour to look to. All his irons are one length (7 iron) and if memory serves me correctly his driver and woods are a bit shorter than average now as well. The whole distance lost and pushing right myth of shortening drivers and woods is just that a huge myth.
