  • Ferrari have been a sleeping giant for almost two decades, going without a championship win since their last in 2007 with Kimi Räikkönen. But they are making BIG moves in the F1 paddock, and that streak could be coming to an end very soon...
    But what were their problems? How has Fred Vasseur fixed them? And WHEN can they win?!

    There's something different about Ferrari under Vasseur compared to previous seasons under different team principals and I can't quite put my finger on it. It doesn't feel like Ferrari is entering that period of good and then quickly falling out of that period as quickly as they came into it. No it feels like Ferrari are entering that period of good but will be able to sustain it. Might be famous last words but from what I'm seeing and hearing from Vasseur but also Ferrari there is reasons to be confident in future. I'd like to hear what you think and well done on the video it's well made.

    • @jakemorganGP
      @jakemorganGP  Před 3 měsíci

      Thanks mate. Yeah there has been a big cultural shift in the ferrari team. Whatever Fred started doing last year is obviously working. It could even be something as simple as him not letting the media pressure get to him. If they see he’s able to cope, then it reduces the burden on the engineers as well.

    • @kylemacleod4828
      @kylemacleod4828 Před 3 měsíci +1

      @@Powk-mz1cp To be honest I think the decision to get rid of Sainz and get Hamilton is not as simple as just changing drivers I wonder if Vasseur is using Hamilton to get several Mercedes engineers etc to join Ferrari. That's my guess.

    • @jakemorganGP
      @jakemorganGP  Před 3 měsíci

      @Powk-mz1cp good point. But if you were a team principal, when Lewis Hamilton comes knocking, would you turn him down?
      It was never that Sainz was bad. It’s that Lewis is THAT good. Ferrari have wanted lewis for years and they got their chance whilst Mercedes is in turmoil. Now they could possibly do the same with adrian newey whilst Horner is in trouble.

    • @jakemorganGP
      @jakemorganGP  Před 3 měsíci

      @kylemacleod4828 great point! Loïc Serra and Lewis were definitely aligned at Mercedes and rumours have it that Serra was one of the reasons lewis also went to mercedes

    • @jakemorganGP
      @jakemorganGP  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Great take. Sainz is a family favourite in the Morgan household and certainly showed his metal at Singapore last year. He’s only know getting the credit he deserves for his talent (was difficult when you get stuck next to Max from year 1 😅). Definitely going to be interesting to see where he goes.
      As much as he’s tied to Audi, I don’t think it would be the right move for him. Eddie Jordan actually made a good point that it will take Audi a good few years and I’m not sure Carlos would want to endure that on a maybe, with Audi’s F1 venture already looking shaky with the new Audi CEO not liking the F1 project. We’ll have to wait and see!

    It really comes down to their mentally really Carlo's Saniz has adapted to this quite well with taking it into his own hands by winning 2 races giving a statement that I'm better than ferrari it's not always about the team. Charles is developing this a bit more slowly but now he know what to do to fight for a championship since 2022 was the first time he got that feeling which caused mistakes but now he realises what the team can do if their car is competitive just don't get too trigger happy or else it falls apart.

      Good point. Everyone hupes leclerc but I’ve gotta be honest, Sainz has matched Leclerc pretty comfortably. They have different strengths but ultimately lead to the same outcome. Two incredible drivers. Some good points here though!

    The improvements in personnel and on the car will bring Ferrari consistency in performance in results. That alone should bring them a 2nd place finish in the Constructors championship. It will be a miracle if they win more than a handful of races this year.
    Statistically, if Lewis does not win at least 3 races this year, he will fall behind Michael in winning percentage.

    • @jakemorganGP
      @jakemorganGP  Před 3 měsíci +2

      Yeah. A big season for Lewis. But down the line I think there’s a strong case for having success at Ferrari under the new regulations.

  • @ruudkooijman819
    @ruudkooijman819 Před 3 měsíci +4

    The last time Ferrari won, they were run by non Italiaans. Maybe it will work again. If they do, they will have another Hamilton-Rosberg situation and Lewis will pull every dirty mindgame he can think of against Leclerc. Leclerc will still be faster but he might make more mistakes. If they battle against Max in equal machinery they win the Constructors but loose the drivers championship.

    • @jakemorganGP
      @jakemorganGP  Před 3 měsíci

      Interesting. I don’t think Lewis was dirty at all in the rosberg hamilton era. They fought hard and that’s racing.
      But I agree that Ferrari needs non-italians to an extent to bring in a different mentality to the team

    • @ruudkooijman819
      @ruudkooijman819 Před 3 měsíci +4

      @jakemorganGP Both Rosberg and Hamilton pulled dirty tricks. When Lewis battled Max in 2021 it became a bit ugly as well and that wasn't only Max.
      To be a extremely good racing driver you need to be selfish. Being selfish can get ugly quite fast. Only when one driver is clearly faster as the other you have peace within the team. Like Lewis and Bottas. If they are close it's war, especially if they drive the fastest car. That is very hard to manage for a team and I don't know if Ferrari can. It easily pushes one driver out. I like Charles. I hope he doesn't get damaged by this.

      @jakemorganGP  Před 3 měsíci +1

      @ruudkooijman819 great point. I was new to F1 during those fierce seasons but I hope they can manage it. In reality it’s a nice problem to have. But I don’t see Leclerc being prioritised over Hamilton if they have the car to win. Hamilton would never have gone for that. It’s gonna be spicy, I can think wait! Bring on 2025 already 😂

    well, i can imagine lewis doing well on the races as he always does, but in quali, not so much.
    the ferrari has a very pointy nose its very oversteery, lewis prefers a more balanced or even understeery car, now he will either have to adapt, or the sf-25 will be completely different, and i dont see lewis beating charles at least in qualifying

    • @jakemorganGP
      @jakemorganGP  Před 2 měsíci

      Actually Lewis prefers a pointy car like Leclerc. Not as pointy compared to leclerc and Max but he definitely prefers oversteer. 4:00-5:30 was WAY to long. Im not brain dead. I dont need a full minute of you explaining how...sometimes it's not enough to just restructure who you already have working in a team. leta say that your company is a tool box and each employee is a tool in that tool box. now you ve been using the same tools for a while and they have been great for the taks being but suddenly you encounter a new project that requires a specializedthat you dont have. hiring new employees is like adding that missing tool to your tool box, maybe you need someone with expertise in a typical sotware or industry knowledge that you. r currently team does not have. just like having the right tool for the job can make your job easier hiring with the specific experience you need can help your company tackle new projects or challenges properly. and this is exactly what Fred has done, and he was actually very smart about what he did...
