It was just a rumor when I went to bed, when I woke up the very first thing I saw on my Instagram feed was the Ferrari announcement and my jaw literally dropped. I’m still trying to process it
When I woke up this morning I only thought that I had slept for 2 months and checked my phone to make sure it was still 1st of February and not the first of April. It’s not so much Lewis going to Ferrari that has shocked me. It’s the fact that it was dropped today. Normally Ferrari like making their announcements at Monza. My guess is that Carlos Sainz leaked the news through a third party to stir the pot. A bit like when Christian Horner told people that Sen was going to Ferrari as soon as he found out. But yea I’m still trying to figure it out. I always thought he would go at some point but not this soon. Something has happened at Mercedes to change his mind maybe the car is 💩again? He looked pretty miserable when Mercedes released the photo of his seat fitting.
@@smith2781 man it was so shocking to me too. I thought maybe there would be rumors for a few years and then he may go, but I also thought this was just for him to negotiate better with Mercedes. Honestly part of me thinks that Lewis is kind of addicted to the spotlight and attention, and that he knew this would absolutely break the F1 news cycle and be hailed as “the biggest move in recent history.” But of course Lewis is not dumb, he must’ve seen or heard something from Ferrari that made him confident enough to make the switch. Maybe they’ve stolen away some crew members from a better team for the future and he believes that he can truly revolutionize the team. Either way I can’t fucking wait for the next two seasons
@@talbotd27 I agree with you but I don’t think Lewis is doing this for attention though as it’s very clear that this has happened just in a couple of weeks as they were talking to Sainz until then. Sky sports are saying that he must of tried this years car in the simulator and it’s not impressed him. They also said that his fav designer seera something moved to Ferrari and he knows how Lewis likes his cars to be. James Allison wanted this guy to be his number 2 but he’s left. So imo he spoke to Ferrari and they must of said however you want the car we will do it for you. Lewis was moaning last year that he’s been saying since the start of 22 that they haven’t listened to him. So it makes sense. Obviously when he spoke to Ferrari it must of been a very quick whatever you want you got it type deal.

car worthy? Wasn't the success come from Hamiltons pure talent all these times? He should win races in the second fastest car on the grid

Hamilton saw nothing promising in the W15.
Not true
Or maybe, it’s a winner, good enough to challenge. If he wins, it’s the 8th, if not…

I agree... It's a heart-over-head move by Hamilton... It's romantic, it's lucrative, it's box-ticking, but will it reap him a world championship...??? Highly, highly doubtful.
Seems like he's trying to get a jump on the new 2026 engine regulations. Just like when he moved from Maclaren to Mercedes before 2014. If history repeats itself, it will prove to be a smart move on his part.

Lewis is old,but how sweet will it be if he can get his eighth title with Ferrari and put them back at the top. Lewis may be one of the older drivers, but give him a sniffing chance and he will know how to get things done.
He still would be 2nd behind Max every race if he would drive for Red Bull.
@romano3771 I highly doubt that. Everyone said the same when vettel was on top. Max is a great driver but not in the same caliber as Lewis. Mercedes effed up the car the last 2 years. Lewis amd Charles both like a car with strong front end meaning it makes it less difficult for the engineers to develop a car. Mercedes usually made a car understeer/strong rear end.

Merc wanted to focus on a post 44 future. Hamilton understood this and wanted a Sir Stirling Moss-like future with Mercedes after racing. Mercedes refused. So Hamilton figured if he's not important post-cockpit too, then he might as well move on.

In my opinion, I think Lewis is being quite considerate to Mercedes, if you think about it. He’s given them a year to get the best replacement they can,he’s not just announcing it near the end of the season, leaving them little options and them ending up with a subpar driver.
He’s also avoiding giving Ferrari any R&D from Mercedes by giving them the heads up, so they keep him out of the tech briefs. That’s by design from Lewis. Honourable, like a true Knight of the Realm!

WOW, Ferrari has already made 4 billion .....looking forward to 2025.🙏
When he left McLaren we were all shocked and thinking he won't find success at Mercedes. It was later exposed that McLaren were supporting Jenson more and he left to start over. I believe he is tired of them not supporting his opinion about the direction for car development this generation. If he can bring back the driver's title to Ferrari it'll help cement himself as the greatest driver.
Shocks that i know; senna prost split in team, Schumacher to Ferrari, max entrance in f1 (and what followed), turmoil when vettwl left, and yes when Alonso whent to aston Martin. But lewis to Ferrari is biggest consternation you could think of, because of this timing and driver show. All of us thought it woukd happen in 2025..
This is for Lewis the best way out. He has lost already one year to Russell and this year he will have a good excuse as he is not the lead driver anymore. Then next year he will be new to the team which gives him another excuse should he lose to Charles. Either Ferrari has got a head start like Mercedes had entering the hybrid era or the car will lack performance which will give another excuse. So all in all a win/win situation for Lewis (even if he loses). Like him or not, he is a brilliant driver and as my daughter says, a smart cookie.
Hamilton is an accomplished guitarist and pianist and musicians are usually above-average when it comes to foreign language learning.
I disagree with noble on why they have hired Lewis. I doubt it is for him to lead the team to victory cos what would that be saying about Charles whom they've hedged their future on? I think Lewis to Ferrari makes sense insofar as market or brand value that Lewis brings and Lewis gets to drive the iconic brand for his last legs.
I don't know Lewis has the galvanizing factor like Seb did but it certainly will be interesting to see how he fits into tifosi culture which is unlike his Merc Days. Ferrari say no drive is bigger than the team. Ferrari do hlnot hesitate to point blame and they do t give you plenty rope to do your own maverick stuff.
Lastly I guess CH is owed an apology after all, turns out team Hamilton was indeed looking for opportunities elsewhere and when it became apparent there's no seat at RedBull, team Lewis must have chances Ferrari and it worked out.
3 more titles to go!!
Lewis will rekindle the sport that max is slowly killing.
Great for everyone.
Its upto other teams to be competitive looks like you lost memories of 2014-2021 domination
Max killing it is not worse than Lewis killing it. No difference. Same boring bs
This is a great fit: Hamilton loves to blame everyone else for his mistakes, and Ferrari loves to sabotage their own team.
Well, I was shocked indeed, but feel sorry for Leclerc and Saints this year...
I believe LH realizes fully the Verstappen/Red Bull combo is unbeatable at this point, so, he is on "vacation" mode joining Ferrari, understanding it matters very little which team he is joining, because winning a championship seems out of the question now. If he does a Vettel, or an Alonso Ferrari deal, winning a few races, and rehearsing a "challenge" for the championship it will be a blast, and I believe this will happen for sure, but the rest is just the rest. The only issue is how Leclerc will behave as a team-mate. If he beats Hamilton, then his cachée will suffer a blow, since it will be the third team-mate that beats him during a season. Regardless, this team switch has been most exciting. .
They should let teams trade drivers like other sports - Hamilton for Sainz + a prospect driver.
When the going gets tough the tough get going.
Or change teams...
What an iconic last play in the twilight of his career... Hamilton things 🔥😎🐐
Wonder will this lead to him getting a seat for Ferrari hyper car at Le Mans in the future as well.
Used to be about winning, now glitz and PR
TW and MB would have known this was on the cards since last season. LH and TW have invested time and energy into making MB the team it is. Will they miss LH. Sure. But I'm betting LH told MB that if there isn't a change he is off somewhere else.
Also. LH will still give MB everything he has. Its what he does. No matter what the haters try to say.
Weird thing to say, that it's hard to be dominant in F1 these days, when we've had nothing but periods of massive dominance for the last 14 years.
The Tifosi may have something to say about this.
If lewis wins WDC in ferrari, it will be like messi taking worldcup last year.
At last he can show car or driver? Should have put him in the Williams.
I can't find my comments from the last hour?
My 1st one was really good, and the second was just kind of obvious. But I don't see them
Quem assume a vaga de Lewis : Norris ?
I don't know how much of this move is: being the one everyone is talking about? Russell equalling him like Button did so has to move? he sees the W15 as not being a dominant car? I really don't know. I really don't like Hamilton but this has certainly got me interested to see how things pan out.

Ferrari obviously decided this off-season that they were not going to renew Carlos Sains contract for 2025. That means Ferrari now has to look for a new driver for 2025. I think Fred Vasseur let Lewis Hamilton know about that decision and asked if he wanted the seat. Lewis Hamilton apparently couldn't pass up that opportunity. Who knows when another such opportunity would present itself with Ferrari for Lewis?

Ferrari is Formula 1's perennial bad boy and multiple world champions (Schumacher, Alonso, Vettel, now Hamilton) are like a girl thinking "Yeah, I can fix him". I can't wait for the silliest of seasons this move will start 🍿
Well Ferrari's logo is the Prancing Horse. And it's never easy to tame the wild black stallion. 😉
I love this move, LH gives Ferrari something most drivers in the past decade didn't: raw speed and little mistakes. BUT Alonso and Vettel went there as multiple champions as well, they surely were demanding as well and told the team what they needed. They didn't succeed. Not sure LH will either.

This move reminds me of the same one Michael Schumacher made back in 1996. Like back then greatness recognizes greatness.
Only way I can see Ferrari hiring him is if they believe he will be more valuable than their recent drivers at assessing and providing feedback to Engineers during car development and setup. Or their cupboard is bare. Otherwise Why??

If someone offered to double your salary for doing the exact same job you're doing now, it would be a no brainer. At a certain point, it’s really just keeping score. That said, for someone who is as involved in humanitarian and charity efforts as LH, we imagine he’ll do more good with it than a lot of people would. Top drivers are the real winners of the cost cap. Now teams can't spend a bunch of extra money on cars, so they spend it on poaching drivers. And conversely technical employees of F1 teams who are not in the top are the real losers. It's crazy that they will be denied even a small raise year over year just because of the cost cap.
