    What an unbelievable couple of videos. It’s just amazing that these are still out there and how well some of them are stored. So, does anyone need a fake RS? I don’t think so. There’s always room for a nice original car, whatever the spec.

    That’s beautiful - really glad to hear you planning to put it back to standard. Please do that! RS Turbo clones and even RS Turbos are ten a penny relative to these.
    Amazing also to see a D plate survivor like that - around that time they seemed to rot after 5 years. I heard some myth to do with Ford using recycled steel at that time.

      are you kidding they are only interested in selling you the modern day equivalent bin from Saarlouis that runs by charging it up.A ford with a flat battery was common in the 80s too like it will be by 2030 lol

      @@locthebard its a 1.4 grandad and granny shopping car thats been lowered and its airbox mucked about with and some dogleg alloys stuck on it and recarco front seats put in it.its not high spec its very low car bar thats been preserved and its a survivor.I owned a mk3 for just 6 weeks i bought and sold motors back in the late 80s early 90s inc an xr3 and an i version.They were pants then and they are pants now.I wish no nostalgia trips for such inflated money.If it dont go like stink as standard with a v6 minimum in it i aint interested.

      Yes, they may be interested in this car,
      I've done work for BMW, VW and Honda at their UK headquarters, they all have a fleet of well preserved older motors and most of those aren't in such good condition

    There's something special about a run-of-the-mill shopping car that's been kept in that condition, it's a shame it's lost the interior but what a find! Great that you are always so enthusiastic about whatever you guys are doing, that really comes across. Getting excited about the door bottoms, what are you like!? (agree though)

    I never ever in a million years would think one of those would survive as well as that has for all these years. It has to be put back to factory spec and im sure done right it would win plenty of awards at shows. I really hope this gets Chris's spider senses tingling as we know he loves to do them right.

      thankfully modern bins are made of plastic these days lol. welded loads for mates in the 90s as doing so was like picking up dog shit off the street as they were everywhere.

    I had one of these when they were first launched as a company car. I think it was 1980 or 81. 2 door 1.3L in the same red as the one in the video. It attracted crowds when I parked it outside my house as it was the first one most people had seen and it was quite a radical design at the time. Great little car.

    As a former matelot in 1988 a shipmate of mine crashed as we raced through Newbury travelling back to Hms Newcastle in what seems like an identical car to this. It was his pride and joy. A lesson learned. Patched it up and sold it to get an RS Turbo he kept for 10 years. Memories.

    Definitely OEM as much as possible. Had one same colour and ran into the back of someone with a police motorcyclist level with me coming in other direction . He sat there and just shook his head, and smiled at me.

    I had anXR3 1983 pre injection,I would turn it into XR3I they were 2 door,The kids loved being taken to school in mine,everybody wanted to race me ,and the Police wanted to stop me ....drove like it was on rails...the best Ford ever Rob N Chris.

    I had one of these back in the day and it didn’t look that. It had a severe case of rust worm. When those seats go up for sale I reckon there will be a bidding war. Superb car and video 👍👍

    wow can't believe how clean that car and engine bay is on a car of that age looks like its been well looked after and to get a mot without any advisory is another bonus as most old escorts are rust buckets no wonder your both over the moon to get another classic on the channel can't wait to see the end result 💯💯💯👍👍👍👍👍

    Be good to see it restored back to factory original spec.
    So many people restore the more desirable models, and often these standard models either become donor cars or scrapped.
    I’ve not seen a shell this clean and straight since the early 90s!

    Rob, if you need any parts for the MK4’s then there’s a chap near me who has got a couple of these for breaking I believe. Look up AS Car Dismantlers in Red Lodge near Bury St. Edmunds in Suffolk.

      I went to the old cafe/truck stop there last week and it seems to have closed down! Do you know if it's permanent? I remember when the road the cafe is on was the actual A11, we'd stop there on our way to Snetterton racing, good old memories from the 80's 👍

      They need to get those RS Turbo wheels off then and wack some steel ones on. If it's a popular or bonus it wouldn't have even had hub caps.
      However a really well done RS Turbo will also go up in value too, regardless if the car was originally a 1.4 L

    As someone who has welded more Mk3 and Mk4 Escorts than I care to mention, it is incredible to find a mk4 in the condition this one is in. I would love to see what this one looks like underneath. The old escorts used to rust before they left the factory. Get it on the ramp and let us bath in the nostalgia!!!

    Join or contact Ford owners club as they'll have sources.
    At the very worst get a shabby interior and get it re upholstered.
    You know what you paid for it but look at the fully restored selling price to gauge if its worth it.
    Lovely vehicle but ultimately a long project.
    Spares worth a bit too I guess.

    I had one of these as a company car back in 1986, same colour, two door so brings back some memories driving from pub to pub repairing fruit machines and juke boxes. Get it back to original spec for more memory experiences 😀

    I had 2 of these as Firms cars. Did thousands of miles in them. Thing about Firms cars is that they are generally not what you would like, but they are fully functional to put you on the road and sell!

    Your so lucky to have the opportunity to res.tore this car to original specification I bet people will be queuing up to buy this one once you have worked your magic skills on it people of a certain age who had one in the day will jump at the chance to buy an as new example as I’m sure you will return it to factory spec many thanks for sharing it
