I did 8 hrs in a noisy hot steel factory getting burnt by hot welding sparks, pinching my thumb between two heavy pieces of steel, stressing out about very bad technical drawings that are printed out to about the size of a postage stamp. I got home, fired up the ol' ipad and found this video from salvage rebuilds. All of a sudden my day is better than it was. Thanks guys.
I used to work at factory like yours, I asked them to order me a telescope so that I could read the drawings.😂
John Dublyoo yeah everone where I work has complained at least once about the tiny detail on tiny drawings. Our company puts out about 60 grand a week of fabricated and welded steel so it's not like the cost of paper would be an issue, or printer ink for that matter. Some drawings have several lines all converging at the datum on the drawing. It takes waaay longer to interpret them than if the drawing was bigger so it is counterproductive to give us such small plans. Oh well, I get paid by the hour so the trick is to not stress out and to tell the foreman at every chance that the job took longer because of small drawings. 🤷🏻♂️
That noise them recaros make when you fold them back never gets old !!!
That car deserves a whole new paint job ... really no point doing anything else !
You don't want to cover up the decals on the back. Might not be able to replace them, and it makes the car... I wish we could get that car over here in the USA. Yeah, we had Escorts, but that one is unique.
True but much better working on a clean car
@@dcpsdrivers you can still get these made for the car, not original but exactly the same in look
Are u sure??
@@Ruebenbrophy yes. DMB have the rights from ford to make them
Cig burn makes it period correct. Most of the fast Fords and Vauxhalls from that era had them!
Resin boulder burns hahaha
Good old blim burns haha
What is it about this channel, it's one of those types that you could watch them disassemble a teabag and watch with a smile 👍👍
Thank you 👍
The enthusiasm for fast Fords really comes across in these video's. While not a Ford man myself I do appreciate folk getting excited over cars that every one saw back in the day, not just exotica that the ordinary man could never afford.
Great video again Rob and Chris, can’t wait to hear it run. So glad the wrap has gone.. Love this channel 😊👍
Well, there it is. I just spent the part of half n hour watching two dudes washing a car. Happy Days!
Well Done on saving the RS Turbo, Can't wait to hear the unmistakable burble when it starts that you sadly don't hear or see many of these remarkable vehicles anymore. Can't wait to see what arrives in the treasure trove of parts, hopefully you will drop lucky and have a original parcel shelf that is often very rare nowadays .
I remember when these RS Turbo's came out in the 80's they were about 10k new. It still looks the part today, nice one guys
So good to see that bonnet back to original speck!! :)
Just found your channel..wow. I'm 57 and although I never owned the RS I did own an XR3I that was basically the same shape...I also had a 2.8 injection capri. This really has brought back memories of them great years. Will definitely be watching your progress for sure...awesome. subscribed for sure..all the best 👌
Full respray 👌
Brings back memories of seeing these when I used to travel down for the Basildon cruises. Love to see you to be the next wheeler dealers and pick up more classics like these. Nice find and lovely video
Enjoyed that. Those Mk4 Escorts when they first came out didn't appeal to me as much as the Mk3 did, the front of the car were a bit too 'square shaped' for my liking. But looking at it now, it's a beautiful car. Still prefer the styling of the Mk3 though.
80s RS CLEAN!!
Not in a bad condition that escort, a bit of work for the body shop, and a bit of work for you guys, will come clean if a compound then a polish is used.
Fantastic fast ford !!!
This car was registered same date and year as i was born not often you see that. Great video
Scrubbed up nicely! 🚗🚿✔️
A couple of mates had these back in the day... Mad memories!
The brothers who owned these Escorts previously, did a wonderful job of preserving them... Full marks to them for keeping them so rust free for all this time 👍
Love the Escorts, best content on the channel imo, can't wait to see them put back to their former glory
stunning "essex ferrari" can't wait to see the project start on this!
Can't wait to see the will it run video !!! Both the little escorts are beautiful motors keep up the fantastic content by far the best best you tube channel !!!!
Very nice…I had an “All White” Xr3i cabriolet back in the late 80’s after a few XR2’s before that, they were great fun, everybody wanted to nick em and I had the hood slashed outside work so I think my insurance was about £1500 a year in the end and that was a lot over 30 years ago haha… i then moved on to a Peugeot 205 1.9 GTi in white as you did,,now that really was fun. Then speed cameras started popping up absolutely everywhere and changed everything 😄
Scrubed up pretty well! I continue to be amazed at the condition of both your 80's Fords. Look forward to the will it run video.
I just spent 10mins of my life watching a bloke jet wash a car 😂
Welcome to the club mate :)
I just spent 10 minutes of mine reading comments about it!!!
hahaha iv just said the same to my pal. i said im stoned sat watching a dude wash his car lmao no exeption when its an 88 rs turbo tho
Came up whiter than his teeth
What a difference the wash has made, not a bad motor overall, this is going to be a great project, keep em coming 👍👍👍👍
Just great seeing all the dust and dirt washing off a decades worth been lucky with the bonnet not bad bodywork for a 100,000 mile car classic 80's Fast Ford keep up the good work guys
Loving these escort videos, it’s a cheat code to do well on here! 😂 old fords bring back memories for everyone! Great work lads
I had the XR3 model back in the late 80s this bring back good times it was car for my sister but she did not want it so i ended up with it the car learnt who to drive in
Even in today's design standards this old beauty still holds its own. With your magic, guys this will be gorgeous.
That takes me back cutting out the rear shelf on my Escort for my Pioneer speakers, it sounded great (well I thought so anyway)
Hi Rob and Chris, pure pleasure watching the dirt roll off the RS Turbo, unbelievable condition for its age, got to be one of the last left surely, looking forward to next phase, cheers, Alex.
I'm not watching no more jet washing unless its done by the lovely Sarah lol
same its just not the same channel anymore :)
You're face at the end of the video speaks a thousand words, you are both having a ball so far, after all these cars are what the era was all about.
Fully restore if possible very clean car
Rare to find one that’s not rotten
Good video rob 👍
This as got to be the best upload of Rob doing most of the graft.....😁
Well done lads even more stunning than the usual stunning content.
Thank you both....👍👍👍👍
Great to see another one getting saved 👍
You are quite please with the boot, master of understatement you are that boot is fantastic, and the rap on the bonnet protected it saying it's not been on the road in at least 10 years wow!!!!.🤩🙌👍
Looks amazing, brings back some happy memories, you need to complete the set with a Fiesta XR2
I'm with you their Jason. One of the cars on my bucket list 👊👊👊
Wow what a straight tidy motor. That’s gonna be lovley once you and Chris done your magic on it 😊😊😊👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Lovely car Lads .. would swap my st for one in a heartbeat.. but can’t daily drive an rs and I’ve no garage .. keep up the retro cars vids I love em 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Morning Guys. That’s come up a real treat for it’s age 😀 Chris is a diamond as he gets straight involved with the hover 👍🏻 I come image Chris at home like Freddie Mercury with a hover to i want to break free dressed up lol 😆
I had one of these, on a 1990 G plate in black. It was lovely, miss it.
Brilliant guys I worked as a parts man in a main Ford dealer when the car was new, happy memories.
Love your videos guys,as it takes me back to my youth
Although im 60!!!.
Could never afford one of those cars,..my first car in 1978 was a 1972 vauxhall
Viva....god i hated it..but my older brother was in the trade so he made me buy it
I have never forgiven him since......wish i had it now though as they are worth money..god knows why!!.
Keep up the good work guys.!!
In New Zealand, my first two cars were Vauxhalls, a 67 hb in 1982 & 77 magnum in 83, the latter is still in my backyard 38 years later looking a little tired. Bought a second hb eight years ago to tinker with once I retire. Both parents had connections to these cars years ago.😎👌👍
There's something very satisfying about watching a pressure washer wash away years of dirt and grime! Can't wait for the will it run video and to see you restore this beauty to its former glory. Great stuff guys.
This car will look a million dollars with a full respray, don't skimp it, the car deserves it!!
I love that you guys are putting them back to as original factory as possible. Seeing the dirt wash off also gave me a sense of satisfaction. Great job guys!!!
Rob , when I'm working on cars I look like Worzel Gummidge . When you work on cars you look like Man at C&A.!
You're probably way to young to get either of those references.. 👍🏻😉
Peace and love brothers 👍🏻☮❤
That looks so much better now the wrap is off the bonnet
Nice to see Chris being comfortable in front of the camera as well 👌
Rear / front bumper trim inlay needs to be black or red and don’t forget the RS turbo decal on front wings by indicator repeaters. Mine were all red on a 1988 model
The Rs badges shouldn’t be there bud they are aftermarket and red insert was xr3i 👍
The transformation getting that wrap off and a wash... big difference, suddenly a nice classic appeared :-D
wish id bought a few of these years ago when they were still cheap
The RS were never "cheap"...XR3i's were but not RS's
@PAUL MH38 i wouldnt have been able to see over the steering wheel in the 80's 🤣
Wished I still had my series one
They were a hell of a lot cheaper around 15-20 years ago. I had a white one like this, ex magazine feature car (when 17in wheels were considered big!!) And it was only about £2500. These days it would easily be 20k!
Do the e36 m3 bmws command big money now rob👍
What a video of the first clean in years and how well it came up going to be an absolute gem when finished already looking forward to the next video great work guys 👍
The cars we had as kids . I owned one for 500 quid in 98 . Also had a H.E turbo for 750 now there are worth a fortune lol I feel a right twat
I'm kind of feeling like Rose in Titanic watching this. Some fantastic memories with these in Southend and Canvey back in the day.
God I feel old!
Get them shitty clear from indicators and side repeaters replaced with the original orange. Clear stuff looks 🤢🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
Hah! Just like Christmas! Escort unwrapped and then covered in snow. Great work, fellas - looks corking!🏴🧡
We need Sarah to come back and wash the RS Rob 🤪
Where's my shell suit, banging motor takes me back, could only afford an XR3i this motor was my goal, but never scored!! mid 50's now and still can't afford LOL
To be fair I think I preferred the previous car washer you employed....
Was nice to see your glamorous assistant again lol 👍🏻 I’m still amazed how clean it is for a Ford
My wife asked why are you watching a man clean his car...no you silly cow im watching two men clean there car....she walked away laughing her head off.
Sorry but what's funny about a middle aged man watching two other middle aged men washing a car....what have you done to us all Rob - Chris....Lmao.
Cam journels are known to wear out, check for any sludge or blocked oil gallerys under the rocker cover, also check camshaft lobes for wear.
This is my dream car
I had a white xr3i rs turbo look alike 🤔
Biggest regret ive ever had was selling it 😂
If only I could turn back the clock
Great upload guys 👍🤠
I've sold / scrapped about 10 of em I'm past gutted lol
Brings back many good memories. My dad and I brought one each new same year as yours., a black and a white one, consecutive plates. I was a ford employee at the time so got the discount. Good times. I recall fitting the RS Steering wheels. It was fun and a very nice car in its day. We kept them for a year and then I part X mine for used Esprit Turbo and my dad an Excel.
Don’t take the gauges out the middle that’s a good modification of it’s day I’d restore it as a period modified car everyOne restores them back to standard
I would love to see that rs turbo with a full body respray.loads of money but I think would look so perfect! And give it so much cred.and refurbish those alloys to standard.
Can you not get Sandra back for the car washes Rob
Rob, I found watching you washing that RS1600 more captivating than Tom Cruise in his latest Mission Impossible film! Good on yer mate 😊👍
Top upload again Rob and Chris 😎👍. I've noticed in the comments in quite a few of your uploads now that you always reply/challenge negative/critical comments. I wouldn't reply to them it's what a lot of them want when they post negative or nasty things they just want you to bite and reply to them, I'd just ignore them. For every 1 nasty comment there's 500 nice ones easy.
I don’t reply for a reaction it’s normally just to share my thoughts 👍
Great video Rob, can’t wait to see you and Chris bring this beauty to life again.
Rob, karcher wash that car any quicker than that? Nice job, almost as good as Sarah. 👏😅
Who's Sarah BTW?
@@rahullekshmanan5485 Sarah is Rob and Chris secret car washing weapon, see previous video couple weeks back.
@@fredsmith8897 oh the new car washing equipment you're talking about
Such memories awoken with these two Escorts, beautiful examples of what they were in the day. Love to see them both restored to original condition. Thanks for the ongoing content, stay safe Gents, Cheers 👍🏽🙂
Are the RS Turbo seats from that are in the red mk4 in better condition? Might be worth a swap over?
I got another set
I had to smile when I noticed the RS Turbo has the same gear lever as the escort van I had in the 80's. I'd completely forgotten about that vehicle
Have to say it guys but it wasn’t as good as the Golf car washing video just can’t figure out why! 😜
That wash was therapeutic just watching the grime come off!! Top job chaps!
She could do with a detailer to bring her paint back to life
never been so satisfied watching someone washing a car , could watch this video over & over , brings back so much memories of the days when a teenager & these cars were on the road & jealous cause i never had one or could afford one 😂 , already excited for the next chapter in this lovely car , keep up the good work guys 👏👏
Is that a MK 1 Dyson lol that would fetch a few quid
No it looks like a newer one 😁
This take me back to when I was younger, this car needs a lovely paint job I used to see a lot of these running around in a very nice blue colour
Rather disappointed Rob, a deep clean and no sight of the lovely Sarah. But peeling off the wrap was almost a consolation.
I'm not sounding too pervy am I?
I got goosebumps watching you wash the old girl down. Brought back so many Saturdaymorning memories of fettling before a Saturday night out. Happy days.
Your going to put the mileage to where you think it should be? 😂😂😂😂😂
Good on ya, we’ve all done it! 😂😂😂😂😂🍺🍺🍺🍺
It’s 114000 more than it’s got now
I wish id of bought an G reg i was offered yrs ago it was in great nic back then cars just don't have the character they did back then, Great job guys really looking forward to this progressing
What's it like underneath? Any horrors?
Not seen it yet 👍
old school kenwood 6x9, i remember these things from early 2000 or so, sounded great and loud for 6x9
Take off the side skirts, my outer sills were shot.
Great video salvage rebuilds, lovely car Rob and chris, looking forward to seeing the next installment 😀👌👍
Tell me you don't know how to wash a car without telling me you don't know how to wash a car
We’re not a detailing channel
@@sruk the idea is to remove as much dirt without touching or getting too close with the pressure washer. So spray with citrus wash and cover with snow foam then leave to dwell before rinsing off
So pleased that you could get that old wrap off, relatively easily. Straightforward honest car. Great find guys !!
Lets go
Really pleased youre going down the originality route with it. 👍
We want Sarah...
Rob & Chris, thank you so much for sharing the progress on this vehicle. It’s one of those cars, I couldn’t afford to buy or insure; but wow what a motor…. Iconic ❤️
Obviously it’s had paint - de locked doors???
Good spot
Brilliant finger's crossed one day Rob you will get a Capri. Eight year's of my life working on them mega reminiscing 😪
@Tony Kane. Yeah silver Capri with black vinyl roof😃
What are the odds the floor numbers are original lol.
They have never been touched 👍
@@sruk that’s a pleasant surprise 👍
You really do have an 80’s gem right there. I would go the full nine yards and restore it, to its former glory though.
A true icon of the RS family 👍
Should have got Sarah to wash it ?😁😁
Absolute gem of a car,I use to own a black f reg myself😁till someone stole it and set light to it🔥🔥🔥nice chaps, defo need some spot lights on the front, can't wait to hear her purr 👍👍👍
