I've been following many youtube designers/diy'ers/woodworkers for years. I love to cheer on the folks who grow their shops and earn more expensive tools. However, I appreciate that Ben stays "constrained" in the tools he uses to show that it's the ideas that matter and you don't have to wait until you've spent $20k on tools to make something.
I was wondering if that is just his nature, or if he knows his audience and is trying to create content for them.
Laying a towel down or yoga mat type covering, like people do on most loungers already, will be perfect! Very cool
Going to need a yoga mat or something to reduce the heat of concrete in summer.
Great idea for poolside lounge chairs. They DEFINITELY wont blow away. I like your idea of shipping container hotel.
Its cool to see you learn from your previous attempts and try new methods on the fly.
Very cool, functional, and durable!
Forever in love your work & attitude/miles towards/ for exploring/ creativity.
Awesome lounge chair!
Colored concrete would be good. I would say at least three colors so there could be a noticeable variation. Example; white bed next to a pinkish-red, next to a grayish-blue, so how ever many beds are made, they form a collection.
If you could also have some kind of design logo visible somewhere on the sides, that would enhance the overall look too.
And obviously, heat is going to be a factor, so ideas for “hotel towels” or some sort of covering is also needs to be considered.
It's time for you to make a pool table!
Cool idea.
Nice job. Thank you for sharing!
Yup, still very freakin cool, still all I see is Flintstone's!! Hoping all is well Ben, Dirty Jersey out!!
Great work again Ben!
Thanks again!
Very cool!
Great video. Cool design and creative technique. Mahalo for sharing! 🙂🙏
Amazing
That’s a very neat idea. The only thing I would change about the forms is ditch the head rest idea in favor of a neck support and lower cranial support. That will provide much more comfort and long-lasting relaxation. Just make sure the neck hump is long enough to support all of the neck (I.e. support the base of the skull too) and it’ll work quite well.
Matt from Demolition Ranch could use some of these :D
amazing
Summer time on those would be fun 🔥🔥🍳🔥🔥
Honestly after getting out of the water it would be nice to sit on with a wet suit briefly…but yea laying on it on a hot day would be iffy
Underrated
My new bed!
This and the other design kinda look like Jetsons + Flintstones. Will be cool to find out long term if the pieces needed some rebar or fibre reinforcement during the pouring phase
Can't wait to see this hotel
I'd be worried about the big sharp corners along the edges if these are meant to be poolside. I know I wouldn't want to slip and fall onto one
Lightweight concrete lounger, who new
very cool. with the weird unpredictable weather more things should be fashioned out of concrete. not shoes tho. I've hear stories......
I like ❤
Super cool and I love the design, but I don't think they'd be very comfortable as is. Definitely add some cushioning of some type.
My one concern is spiders in the cracks... too close to my cracks, y'know...
So you could of use the same molding wood to make the chair but concrete instead? :/
here is my idea. I guess u can use the second mould as the third one. for more efficiency. what would you say?
I know that these were prototypes, but would silicone make a bad mould for the loungers? I imagine for a prototype the cost is prohibitive, but in a large scale it should equalize the cost, right?
I bet you could customize existing pool chair cushions to be slotted in the gaps
Is it comfortable?
Have you ever thought about making a concrete ping pong table? I’d commission one, as a test, if you’d like to try it.
Those are large pieces of concrete without any rebar enforcement, not recommended. I also think the fad of using shipping containers in construction needs to mostly die . In many ways they are not ideal building materials .
Rebar is definitely not required on a concrete lounge chair...
@@rsnmaa a few extra dollars is the difference between it surviving a drop when moved and not
oh sweet a super heavy uncomfortable chair.
🙏👍👍👍👍🇹🇭
How are you funding the construction of a hotel? That's a huge project! Good luck 👍
selling the shipping container house and partnering with some professional real estate investors as well as hotel management groups. I will do a series about the creation of it as a business in addition to the construction.
@HomeMadeModern very cool. I'm looking forward to it. I'm fascinated by the whole thing. Do you already have videos about the shipping container house 🏠? I'd love to learn more about the cost of construction, cost of land, holding time and the sale price on the back end.
@@HomeMadeModern I would sub to that channel.
I like the idea of a contrainer hotel Ben. And those lounge chairs won't go anywhere, ever.
what do you like about shipping container buildings?
My back hurts
Too complicated for a simple mold like that.
I would not use Odoo, big mistake.
That’s a dumb idea plus concrete is super hot in the summer and it’s really uncomfortable to lay down on, and you’re probably gonna have to reinforced the concrete with rebar making it even heavier oh yea and the shipping container hotel is another stupid idea. Just make a normal hotel.
Weighs 200 kilos lmao
Great! Have a homeless experience.
I see you're cutting MDF with no ppe for your lungs. Big mistake. Do yourself a favor and protect your airways will you? MDF is the worst.
looks uncomfortable
