  • ExLab: Digital Furniture Fabrication | Melbourne School of Design
The ExLab: Digital Furniture Fabrication showcases furniture pieces designed and made by MSD students. Each piece focuses on digital fabrication and computational design processes as a means to innovate making techniques and drive design processes. This methodology allows the processes of making to drive the design work-flow by constructing a feedback dialogue between physical prototypes and computational processes.

Cool idea and think its worth pursuing. If concrete is uncomfortable as you stated in a comment than just form it wider/deeper, making allowance for fitted cushions...Would still keep its unusual free flowing shape.

Hey I had the same idea! It's only been a month, but did you pursue it? If so how did it turn out? I'm thinking it would be a cheap alternative to buying a patio table and once I move if I don't want to keep it I could make some money back.

Very improbably this is structurally sound or you’d see it done all the time. Would definitely need glass fiber concrete, and would need proper thickness.

it does not look like they used concrete but some kind of plaster. As it is white and not grey and he used his bare hands to mix it, it is unlikely cement, the binding agent of concrete. The lime in cement creates an acid than burns skin and even a crazy creative artist would have worn gloves. I like innovative creative functional art like this. Nice work...
