Off the line is brutal 0 30 in not even a sec torque I can imagine it has alot of torque shove
At first I didn't think the 3 cylinder engine would have much torque. I was definitely wrong! Such a great car!

I am telling you that you're going to like this more than the Miata. I've owned several Miatas over the years and this car drives more raw than them. You gotta to take one for a spin!

i had a car growing up that launched at 25 mph and nobody believed me this thing pretty much does the same but about 30. just a touch of wheel spin but as soon as first hook your already moving while the other car is just spinning. good 60 foot times win the race. 0-60 mph time is important but that first few feet is crucial. mu current daily driver isnt amazing but its very quick under 4.5 sec 0-60 zero prep no tire pressure change just anywhere anytime. i dont launch at a speed as i dont really spin now but i just build speed very well and its instant when its time to go thanks to sheer torque. im impressed these cars can boast similar accel with similar weight and alot less torque.
The design of cars and their drivetrains have evolved so much over the years it's really amazing what they can do. This car makes 300hp at the crank and can achieve 0-60 times as those cars with 400hp. Super impressive!

It's HANDS DOWN the awd sports car that I've had. Handles and drives like it was built it a shop. Has lag and all that stuff and performs so raw! When you get one you're going to love it! Cheers!

Make sure the car is in sport mode... all the traction, stability assist are off. Rev that puppy.. dumb that clutch, and get ready for 2nd gear because it's coming quick!

I haven't reviewed the GR yaris but I am absolutely in love with the Corolla. If you haven't driven one yet you're going to be blown away! Also, I can't believe you get both models. I might need to move to your neighborhood lol
Dude how are you doing 1-2 so smooth.
Every time I try, when I take my foot off gas there is a delay before the RPM drops of half a second, so if I shift that fast the car will lurch every time.
Any tips?
Yes, make sure you’re revving the car to its limiter (but don’t ride the limiter) and start releasing the clutch right before you shift. That way the shifting is starting to happen before you completely ride the limiter. Doing so also keeps the car smooth.
A few people have asked so I might just do a tutorial on it. I used to drag race back the day so it’s something I learned from those days.

It’s crazy you’re able to get even 4.3 seconds when everyone online is complaining saying it’s 5 seconds or over. I think you have to get to 60 in second and actually give it enough gas when dumping the clutch. Seems like the only way you get the numbers you’re getting
Yup, a lot of people are going into 3rd to reach 60mph... You can clearly do it in second. I've got a buddy that has a draggy data logger and I'm going to time the 0-60 to confirm. Gotta make a vid about this! Thanks for watching Mark!

Mine has terrible lag going to 2nd and 3rd even in expert mode in any awd setting . I don't see anyone else with this problem
Take it to the dealer and make sure everything is good. It is a laggy car though...

Yup... most folks shift into 3rd before. 2nd seems to work fine!

Very slight slip... just enough to keep that powerband up. I used to drag race bikes back in the day.. if you know you know.

Rpm gauge kinda weird on the low end rpm range, would be difficult to know if you’re bogging the engine or not

@@tdiaz9162 I bought mine pre own with 1,120 miles I live in central NJ. I think my rev is set to 7,000 rpm not sure if I should drop it to 6,500 rpm

@reviewedbytim Damn i didn't know those cars where that quick thats awesome.. thats all you need for a fun car.. we test drove a hybrid kia sportage i think its like 0-60mph in 7 seconds i know thats slow but it felt fast. I don't think the average person realizes how quick 0-60 in 4-5 secs really is. My neighbor has a model 3 performance tesla did 0-60mph in like 3.5 seconds that shit was stupid fast but felt soulless as well lol.. so 4-5 seconds with push you into your seat and is enjoyable for sure.. i want one but they are hard to find especially at msrp..

Leave it in 1st... clutch down... Release.... (now this is where it takes skill).... you have to slightly slip the clutch so that the powerband stays strong. Very tough to master. I used to drag race years ago.

I've got a 2000 z28 SLP car. I feel you. But just letting you know I got a chance you do a HWY roll with a '22 Coyote (intake,exhaust) 10r80 and we were neck and neck until approaching 130mph. Then he started walking lol

Also not sure if he even floored it, but I got tired of it so I put it in 4th and floored it. Shifted to 5th, can’t remember if I went into 6th but I looked down and was going 130 so I let off.

This still gets 33mpg and it's 100% stock. Tune it and it's run low 12's and maybe 11's in the 1/4 mile.

Let me explain... Those shifts aren't late. I was using all of the power band since the car peaks its horsepower near the redline! Watch some other launches with the GR Corolla. Most people make it to 60mph in 3rd gear... I made it in 2nd. Most people get the GR corolla to 60 in 4.9 seconds. I made it in 4.3!! Thanks for the tip but I know how to drive bro! I got you! Two different worlds. There's several professional race car drivers (including F1) that have purchased this same car because of its driving characteristics. You don't hear too many high level drivers talking about a scat pack. There's a large group of people out there that are "simple". They just want loud and fast. Scat will definitely give you that. Dodge knows their demographic and gave them what they wanted.
And then there's another group that wants more than that (driving characteristics, agility, technology, innovation) and there's cars for people like that. This is one.
