This has to be the best *help* video I have ever found. Quick, simple, idiot-proof video, directions on a problem that has been annoying and paper wasting since a Windows update. Thank you! I liked, subscribed and will share your channel. Love these really useful CZcams channels!!!!
You're welcome
Dankeschön... Dein Video hat mir sehr geholfen! 🙂🙂
You're welcome!
very helpful, fixed the issue.
Glad it helped
Thank you. This easily eliminated a constant irritant and a possible very expensive mistake. I should have taken the time to find this myself long ago. But your concise explanation helped me do it in about a minute.
You're welcome!
Thank you for such a concise and clear video clip - very much appreciated.
Queries:
1) Given that I run an eco-tank model (ET 2750) - ie a printer which uses only compatible liquid ink refills not compatible ink cartridges per se - do I ACTUALLY need to turn off updates to avoid losing the ability to use compatible ink?
2) If so - for my curiosity - how does the printer detect compatible liquid ink and - more practically - do I need to turn off both firmware AND software updates?
Quick and useful video with no stuffing around. appreciate it!
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for the instruction I have a question for you can I downgrade my Virgin to the Euro one because they don't have the restriction for the ink from third-party seller I have a printer XP 6000
Thank you!
We're happy that this video helped you.
Thanks!
Welcome!
NOTE: Make sure you change Epson Software Updater if it is installed on more than one computer. The software was also on my wife's computer and I forgot to change the 'Check Interval to Never' on her computer. So, it updated the firmware on my Epson printer which invalidate my non-Epson print cartridges.
Hi, thanks for this video...concise and informative. Can you tell me how to remove the last firmware update?? Thanks!
We're sorry, unfortunately, we can no longer downgrade the firmware once it has been updated. However, we can stop any future updates by turning it off.
Do you know how to factory reset to recover xp-7100 firmware
Do you have any thing on an EPSON Workforce WF-7840. Was doing great till I ran out on the ink on hand. Tried to finish with a compatible epson ink cartridge to No Avail.
With the WF-2860 is there a way to roll back the update? Mine has stopped accepting the compatible cartridges and I suspect it is because I allowed the firmware to update.
FYI I bought this printer in 2021 and they have moved the firmware notifications to make it harder to find at least with the WF 4833 series its located Settings, General Settings, System administration, then firmware.
Thanks! I couldn't find mine until I read your comment!
Thank you
Much better. 👍
Hope this video helped!
I have an epson expression 15000 a d I use Mac. I cannot find the option to turn off firmware updates. I downloaded the firmware updater app and all it wants to do is update. There are no options to select when to update. Please help!
I downloaded the updater but it can't find my XP-830 - there are no printers in its list. Does that mean I can forget about it as it will never be able to update?
I have six computers from Dell Alienware, to new Mac OS Monterey Apple, to 2-HP's. I went to the Alienware and started Epson Software Updater and it give me a screen stating there is a new version of this software, do you want to allow this (Epson-whatever) to make changes to this computer? Since updating and changing is what I want stopped; what do I do? If I say no it simply shuts down and vanishes. I'm just trying to get Epson's intrusive updates to stop and prevent it from disabling my printer from using the ink cartridges of my own choice.
Mine was already on "Never" when I open the app. Do I still need to press "ok" to confirm it?
Because when I do. It says "these settings cannot be cahnged by users who do not have administrator authority" then after pressing ok again, it asks me if I want tao allow tahis app to make changes to my device. Please help. I dont know what I should do
I Deleted the Firmware Updater from the Control Panel altogether, i also Returned my Printer to Default Settings afterwards which you can do on the XP-630, hopefully, no more Problems.
Thanks for letting us know.
All the videos assume we have access to all the menu options on the printer. I don't. Every time I switch on the printer, after about 2 seconds it goes to the warning message - you need to replace the black ink. I've even tried hard resets but it still goes to the warning message and no amount of hitting the back or home buttons will change it.
Liked watching the precise video -- However, the link provided for the Epson Updater App no longer works as there is no product(s) shown in the drop down menu -- thus, no Essential Product Updates available on screen. Basically the App menu/products are blank. Perhaps it is not applicable for Win 10
Thank you for bringing this to our attention, and we appreciate your positive feedback on the video. We apologize if the provided link is no longer working. For the most accurate and up-to-date information on Epson updates and compatibility, we recommend checking directly with Epson for better assistance.
If you don't have the software on your laptop, would the firmware update itself in a wireless connection? Thanks for sharing.
I believe so
@@Ldproducts Thanks, but why would I get the notifications if it can update itself?
@LD products, bro plzz what to do when u dont see your device(printer) on Epson software updater??
We apologize for the inconvenience you've encountered. However, if your device/printer is properly connected but not showing on the Epson Software Updater, we recommend contacting Epson for further assistance.
My Epson Updater on Mac Ventura 13.4 doesn't have an option for when to check 🤔 only the box to check to download
We apologize to hear that, we suggest checking with the manufacturer.
Do you have this ability for an Epsom wf 3640 ?
Yes, it should be available to all Epson printers.
This might be a dumb question but if you don't have the software updater on any computer connected to the printer then is it even necessary to download it just to select never update? If you don't have the updater, can it even update by itself?
I don't remember, but maybe itcomes with the driver. Driver is useful because you get things like print preview and I think epson tailored print settings.
I did not know not to update the firmware on my 2 yo WF2850. My computer is an Ipad. Now I only get a blinking on/0ff button on the printer and nothing works. Not even the home button. What can I do?
We apologize for what happened. If the items were purchased from us, please send us a direct message with your details on our customer service support team for immediate assistance at ld.ink/2DM8cOU, or you can always chat, email, or call us at 888-321-2552. We'd be glad to help!
There is not Firmware Update in my settings on my Epson WF-4830. Please help!
Are you trying to turn off epson firmware updates?
Does anybody know if i do this before or after i change my firmware? I need to revert my firmware to its original version to make my printer work (hopefully) and i need to know if i should change to never update before or after i downgrade it
If downgrading, we would suggest doing this after.
Are you using it for sublimation? I was having problems until I went chipless.
@Lori Lee yes i was gonna use it for sublimation
"Firmware Update" is not on the list in Settings on my Epson WF-4834, and can't locate it anywhere (yet!)
Go to settings - general settings - system administration - firmware update
@@reddahaydnTHANK YOU...this has been driving me nuts
@@reddahaydn thanks a lot for the information.
You made my life a lot easier
Regards from Belgium (Europe)
You're welcome!
This doesn't help a bit. There's no option on my wf-4820 to disable notifications in Settings.
How do you do that on a MAC?
Did you ever figure it out? I’m currently stuck with how to do it on a Mac. Not sure why Mac makes everything so difficult for it’s users.
Would uninstalling the Epson Firmware Updater from the computer stop it from installing the new firmware?
No, but turning off the Epson Automatic Firmware Update will do.
I have a major problem. I have an Epson XP-440, bought it used, worked great for a while. it told me I needed ink, so I bought all new ink black and colors (even though the colors weren't used), I bought EPSON brand from Best Buy. Installed them, printed a few black pages over a few weeks (I don't print often), and now I tried to print one page and it's telling me my BLACK INK IS OUT! And it won't let me print. I looked up the instructions about reverting to older firmware, and I got the printer ready to do so, but on my computer when I click on the Epson Software Updater in Windows, it automatically starts downloading a new version! I cannot find where to turn the updater off. Help!
This worked for me, but not everything was exact as was shown. It may work for youczcams.com/video/Qe2HwgT7N6U/video.html
@@longboardlouie5816 Thank you so much for the link. I did find a fix that was somewhat involved but seems to have worked. Although now I have a new problem: it keeps telling me the ink is low when it's brand new and I've only printed a handful of pages. 🙄
@@mspitstoptoyou Not sure, but if its printing I would try not to worry about it.
Now I have a problem with the part in disabling the Epson updates. Nothing appears in the dropdown menu when trying to select my printer in the software updater???
I downloaded the Epson Software Updater and there is no drop down menu to be able to select my printer and select never update. What do I do?
We're sorry for that, may we know what is your printer model number?
@@Ldproducts thank you - it is an XP-4100
I don't have firmware updates under settings !
We're sorry for that, may we know your printer model number?
@@Ldproducts Epson work force Pro WF-4820 :)
No printers are listed?
This works with most Epson Printers. May we know what is your printer model number?
I'm can't open it
May we know your printer model number?
My printer got destroyed during a surge during the firmware update I’m so upset. Just started a claim
We're sorry to hear about that
Why wouldn't you want firmware updates?
Because by updating your printer, you are pretty much tied to buying just epson chip sets. The new firmware doesn't allow you to use third-party chip sets.
@@rayochapin well it doesn't matter for me. I have an Epson ecotank printer. Doesn't use cartridges. I can highly recommended it!
