Fiji, a country in the South Pacific, is an archipelago of more than 300 islands. It's famed for rugged landscapes, palm-lined beaches and coral reefs with clear lagoons. Its major islands, Viti Levu and Vanua Levu, contain most of the population. Viti Levu is home to the capital, Suva, a port city with British colonial architecture. The Fiji Museum, in the Victorian-era Thurston Gardens, has ethnographic exhibits.

On my last day, I had a chance to meet some Fijian natives and we had a chance to talk about a variety of topics regarding Fiji. What they said about Africa truly surprised me. We are all the product of our environment. I am glad that I am to shed some light on some unknown that many people have about various subjects around the world. If you enjoyed the conversation, kindly hit that like button, subscribe and share the video. Thanks so much for watching !
Great video. I'm a new subscriber. Did you have their permission to include talk of them smoking weed? I'd hate to think that they'll be harassed
As an indigenous Fijian, I would like to point out that the title you mentioned is offensive and does not represent all Fijians. It makes the general population appear uneducated and is very misleading as it generalizes the views of a small group to represent an entire population. I would really appreciate it if you could change the title to "Views on Africa from a Group of Fijians" instead of "What Fijians Think of Africa."
Much love from South Africa to our brothers and sisters in Fiji
It's exactly like Africa. đ
My husband and I are both from Fiji, watching you all the way from France. Enjoy your time there. Fiji the way the world should beđ donât worry about the news!
Thanks so much for watching! I appreciate that!
I like how you enlightened our fijian brothers about Africa. It's high time we toured each other's neck of woods coz it's evident that we're the same people as black folks across the world.
I've always wanted to travel there. When I was younger I worked in a clothes store in Central London. One day a Fijian man and white lady were in the store. They were both looking my way and eventually the white lady came over to me and asked where I was from. I told her my family are from the Caribbean and she responded that her Fijian friend told her that I am from Fijian like him. I knew at the time that the women wore their natural hair in afros and I used to wear my hair the same way.
Facts
Fiji is a beautiful country.
Greenery as far as the eyes can see coupled with serene beaches.
The drive from Nadi to Suva is just an experience.
Nuff respect to our Fijian brothers.
2:09 I think melanin is a good hormone it makes people warm, friendly, loving, humane and sweet to others.
All black people all over the globe are lovely, trusting and welcoming. We despise violence and we vibe with nature.
I am glad and Proud of being black in this life journey. God trusted us with one of his best characters LOVE. And we have not failed him we give love to everybody.
Thank you for bringing Fuji lifestyle to us what amazing traditional drink they have and other awesome lifestyles awesome contentsđâ€đ

It's interesting to learn how diversity we are as a people, this is why I believe that we should learn about and from one another. I finding out that we face and share the same problems
Looks like a real paradise with super friendly local people
Thanks to my Fijian brother for mentioning my country Ghana.
Great video Brother!! Iâm a Fijian from the US.. thanks for opening the eyes of people who havenât been there !! đđŸ One Love
My pleasure!! Thanks for watching !
Its great you spoke to the real people lots more interesting. Indeed the resorts will be as boring as any resort around the world. Its the people that makes a country unique.

Very nice video, Ivain. That was a great Fiji series. A lot of interesting topics. I really enjoyed listening to your conversation with those locals. Great content. I enjoyed watching đđđ
Thanks a lot for watching! Itâs a very interesting and fun country indeed. I wish I had more time to do even more but it will be for next time. Cheers!
So interesting. Fiji is beautiful. The men are good looking too.
Thanks a lot for watching! You should visit, itâs an amazing island.
@@IvainTures LOL, You cannot tell the difference between Fijian and Indo-Fijian.? In reality Ivain they don't mixed like that with each other. Both speak different languages, and different religions. Majority of Fijians are Christian, and Indians are majority of Hindus, some Muslims, and when i went to Fiji few Indo-Fijian Christians. Many Fijians look typically Melanesians whether it is Papua New Guinea, or Vanuatu, but some Fijians are mixed with Polynesians mainly people from Tonga or the people in Eastern Fiji, and i met a few Fijian/Samoans. But you are learning.
Wow!! Fijians are so good looking!!!!
These guys live with nature, live longer and aren't concerned about world problems. In Fiji there are Fijians and Indian Fijians. Fijians drink kava and play rugby while Indian Fijians play cricket and enjoy their curries.
In all, Fiji is a paradise on earth , far from politics, greed, engineered food etc.
Who controls the economics? The native Fijians or the " Indian Fijians"?
@@kerubel1436 Although I could see where you coming from, what's that to do with my comment?
Lol no one plays cricket here đ
â@@kerubel1436from what i know the natives make it clear they are the owners of the land..
@@dadao8564 if they do not own the economy do they not own anything. Hopefully their economy is not foreign owned like most black countries with the exception of Ethiopia and eritrea that I know of.
I have thousands of Fijians as Facebook friends and i can say without any contradiction that they are few people on earth that are as motivated to achieve academic success as Fijians. There are three leading universities in Fiji, University of South Pacific, University of Fiji and Fiji National University. These universities turn out thousands of graduates every year. Large numbers of Fijians also study at universities in Australia and New Zealand and also at the University of Papua New Guinea and University of Goroko. So Fiji is not all about rugby and Farming. There is much dignity in farming. Had you visited certain villages in Fiji, you would have noticed the respect many Fijians have for Tanzania.
Tanzania is the original home of Fijians.
â@@firstnationfall5451sure? I'm Tanzanian I never heard abt that?
@FahadAbubakari
Yes. My son did extendive DNA testing. He is Part Fijian. It went back to Tanzania on his paternal line. East Africa. My husband who was Fijian could even translate some Tanzanian words. It had the same meaning. Example Koro. Village. So yes I am sure. I have studied Melanesians and the culture for many years. Look at them. Look at the people in Vanuatu. You will then see someone was lying about something. All off these people are descendants of Africans that navigated their way from Africa, Southeast Asia and into Australia and the south Pacific.
@@firstnationfall5451 thts so amazing I'm proud to hear that I always know we have our long distant relative arround the world.

The voices of Fijians echos with African voices. Viva Fiji and viva Africa
Beautiful Melenated people...We all over the globe đźđźđź
Fijians are beautiful people. I used to talk with a lot of them when I was in Iraq. Depending on who you talk with they have as part of their oral history of having connections with Africa and some will even mention Hapi(Nile) Valley people coming to Fiji in boats and these was way before the Indians were brought in by Europeans. Fiji is definitely on my short list for travel. Great video you should get around there more..đđż
Very true. Yet the Europeans have them deny it.
Very educational. Good jobâ€

Fijians are the most humble beginnings I've ever met. I love Fiji going there again this year.

I don't know you have time, however if you want to go to university, it is in Suva, which is about 3 hours away cab ride or University of the South Pacific, which is the capital of the country. It was cool, and then i took a boat to Vanua Levu secord largest island, and later travelled to lau islands which was by invitation.
Thanks for showing us,how Fiji looks like Reminds me of my village in South Afrca. Such beautiful spirited, humble people, just like Africans.I felt at home and connected to fijians for watching this video. This is paradise. They seem very happy, how they live. Rugby is a large sport in Fiji.đ

Nice video.
Many many thanks
As a African American, we know we are from Africa and are making steps to move to Africa. Black Americans views are very different about Africa. We are still one but separate in a sense because of our mentality. I do believe there are Fijians who know they are from Africa. It has to be. I was considering moving to Fiji and South Africa to build a three way connection from America to South Africa to Fiji. Just a idea. Thanks baba for the video!
Thank you so much for your educational and informational video. I have only met one Fijian person in my life. She was married to a white man. She was beautiful and friendly. The guys you are talking with seem to be nice and friendly people. Farming is very important. However, Fijian may want to balance farming with some other fields to help them to produce simple farming tools. Fields such as engineering, technology, nurses, teachers, medical doctors, lawyers, trade school, and more. For them farming to growing their own food is very good, important, and makes Filian to be self-sufficient in agriculture and be successful in other fields. I like their simple and laid back life.
Ivain tures i like your video i agree with you i think they should advance in knowledge and more teaching about the African culture because they are African also and try to get in different work not to say don't involve in farming alone but also if you are doing farming maybe you can do it big also because farming is one of the nesittive for the country so continue doing good video and hope you can go back to Fiji and bring us more information bless
Pacific Islanders are just wholesale people. Much love from South Africa

The supranational collaboration of African Caribbean and Pacific countries is a fantastic example of integrated working among commonwealth, non aligned and other countries of the global south. The first Prime Minister of Fiji, Ratu Sir Kamisese Mara, had very close working relationships with Julius Nyerere of Tanzania, Kenneth Kaunda of Zambia, Paul Biya of Cameroon, Dawda Jawara of Gambia, Yakubu Gowan of Nigeria, Siaka Stevens of Sierra Leone, Milton Obote of Uganda, Seretse Khama of Botswana, Sekou Toure of Guinea, William Tolbert of Liberia and Hastings Banda of Malawi, among others.

Thanks for the video, please, go to a village not a settlement, ask the village elders you want to spend afew nights, to really understand the correct and real village life. United States have been sending Peace Corps to Fiji for as far back as 30 years ago, they live in a village for weeks. You will never be disappointed,
Thanks so much for watching!
History tells us that Fijians migrated from or has ancestors from Tanganyika, modern day Tanzania.
Your comment is based on the european's "out of Africa" THEORY, but the reality/truth may be quite different. Food for thought?
What history book says that?
You don't even know which countries are in Africa, so your doubting my comment comes with no surprise to me at all.

Not the history books written by Europeans. DNA SHOWS IT.

Why do people ask this dumb question of WHERE you were born? It literally doesn't give you a USEFUL answer. I assume here the reason to ask is to determine if the guy is native Fijian. So let's say he says no but in fact his entire ancestry for millennia is Fijian except that his mother happened to give birth to him in NZ and returned to Fiji when he was still a child. Does that disqualifiy him for speaking as a Fijian? Some recent immigrant family from let's say, India (cuz they are flooding the whole planet) , with a Fijian born child could be more qualified to speak as Fijian?
It would be better if you interview the right people, these ones are kava dope. Can you tell me where this is in Fiji .I'm from Fiji and I'm not happy with the way they narrated my beautiful Country .

â@IvainTures As an indigenous Fijian, I would like to point out that the title you mentioned is offensive and does not represent all Fijians.
