Fiji, a country in the South Pacific, is an archipelago of more than 300 islands. It's famed for rugged landscapes, palm-lined beaches and coral reefs with clear lagoons. Its major islands, Viti Levu and Vanua Levu, contain most of the population. Viti Levu is home to the capital, Suva, a port city with British colonial architecture. The Fiji Museum, in the Victorian-era Thurston Gardens, has ethnographic exhibits.

If you don't want to buy then don't buy it, but don't say it's a tourist Trap cause it's not, you're portraying them as like scammers. All I see is women that want to show case their fijian artifacts and by the way that's what we do also in our normal lives, we make artifacts for functions and cultural events. If you want to document the real fijian culture get in contact with Fijians thats living in the village. That's not nice of you telling viewers to be careful...Fijians are one of the nicest people you'll know, they don't fake being nice to you. Those women are stay at home mothers, resorts organisers tourists to experience the village life and this one way the village mothers earn money by selling artifacts. Just be nice and respectful, don't have to buy anything if you don't want to. You wanted to go to the wedding?? You got to be invited and properly dressed, just cause your American doesn't give you the entittlement to act however you want or do whatever you want. You want to see the real Fiji, first you need to learn how to communicate with Fijians, learn how to dress respectfully when entering a village and it's nice to ask people if its okay to film them.

Hey bro, just some background information, that most people do not know, because the British tried to turn both populations against each other by religion and all!: Okay, so basically, Fijians, Solomon Islanders, and other Melanesians are a recently diverged group who sailed out of Papua New Guinea around maybe 3kya. So papuans, were one group with Australian aboriginals until the landmass separated, but where did this group come from. We can see who are the closest related groups to papuans using an online search. ‘The genetic makeup of Papuans is primarily derived from Ancient East Eurasians, which relates them to other mainland Asian groups such as the "AASI", Andamanese, as well as East/Southeast Asians’ en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indigenous_people_of_New_Guinea#:~:text=The%20genetic%20makeup%20of%20Papuans,2%25%2C%20next%20to%20additional%20archaic. For those who do not know, AASI are the Ancient Ancestral South Indian people, which make up about 1/3 to half of most indian DNA today and in some populations higher. So they say they are related to other south-east asian groups. Let’s now fit the puzzle. So the negrito group of Phillipines, the Aeta, have very similar DNA to papuans theculturetrip.com/asia/philippines/articles/the-aeta-the-first-philippine-people#:~:text=According%20to%20historians%2C%20the%20Aetas,and%20Melanesians%20of%20Solomon%20Islands. So this link says, ‘they're of the same group as those of Aborigines in Australia and Melanesians of Solomon Islands.’ It also says they have affinities to other southeast-asian groups such as the Orang asli. Now who are the Orang asli, and where are there origins, let’s search this up, go on. Malaysian genetic experts ‘Genetic studies date Malaysia's Orang Asli back to India somewhere between 42,000 to 63,000 years ago’. theculturetrip.com/asia/malaysia/articles/the-history-of-malaysias-orang-asli-people#:~:text=Genetic%20studies%20date%20Malaysia's%20Orang,People'%2C%20Malaysia's%20oldest%20inhabitants. So yes, we can state that an ancient population moved out of india, into south-east Asia, Papua and Australia, and into the Melanesian islands. So you will probably be wondering how come indians don’t look like them. Well they do, you see alot of indians can be very dark, with broad noses. However, one thing about india is that it is also home to another native population, around 50,000 years ago called the ANI. Both the AASI and ANI mixed to create modern indians. Almost all indians have this mixture, even the tribal areas, but tribal areas have more proportion of AASI. That is why the population of india is so large, because it is the home to the oldest populations. Side note: you guys just listen to the propaganda of Bollywood, which is just run by Arab men, if you see real South Indian movies like Pushpa: the rise, you will see so many Melanesian looking actors because they portray another side of india.

Ivain , between 1879 and 1916 the British plantation owners brought in about 60,000 indentured workers from India. The people you met are descended from these people. Also more came as traders. There is an issue between the two cultures the Melanesian Fijians and the Indo Fijians (Indians). A Melanesian Village is very different from a Indo Fijian. As Fiji gained is Independence from Britain but remained part of the Commonwealth, the differences grew. There was a Military Coup in the 1980s and many of the business people of Indian descent left Fiji for Australia and New Zealand. The Indo Fijians make up 38% percent of population but own less than 2% of the land. The Melanesians original Fijians hold their tribal lands. Some of the hotels are built on leased lands held by Melanesian Fijians. It is on the 2 main Islands you will see the Indian and ever growing Republic of China nationals. Hope this helps explains the mix. Australians and NZers make the biggest tourist group.

Thanks for watching! Why are you saying that they are not native Fijians? Please explain as I’m not sure I understand. They are from there and also have villages. Maybe there’s something I’m missing. Please clarify if you don’t mind. Secondly, the people taking me around do know exactly what I’m looking for. In fact, we spoke extensively for days before this video was filmed. Be aware that not everything makes it on the Final Cut of the video. Furthermore, I’m not speaking about your experience, mine differs clearly. It may have been very different. Of course nobody can ultimately force you to buy anything. However, it was very aggressive and I felt very uncomfortable as it was extremely pushy. That’s why I left. Tour guides are not the ones selling stuff in there. It’s the people working inside who are aggressive vendors. This sorts of things happen around the world in places set up for tourists. Who is surprised ? That’s why I avoid them.

When you went to that village Pottery Village, you were suppose to go as a Hotel Tour, but they took you there as if they just wanted you to go,that’s why the man asked,is anyone at the Pottery? In the village there’s always things to be done as a village cause living in the village we have Laws. The Indian Lady should be wearing a Sulu or Skirt when going into the village. No bags to be worn on the shoulder but to hold it in your hands. This is part of Fijian Cultures. You can be scolded if the Fijian Elders see you not following the rules. If you read some of the comments some kept saying it better to speak with the native people,it’s because we value the importance of our culture, traditions and especially our Laws. Vedas mentions 4 VARNA which are Brahmin, Kshatriya , vaishaya and Shudra but none is inferior to any. VARNA is decided on basis of "GUNA" I.e Quality. for example one of biggest Empire - Maurya Empire from SHUDRA caste. Caste is a Portuguese word given by colonizers.

I think the airport problem relates to your passport. Passport (PPT) rankings is a rating system rating it's strength based on the country's quality of life, financial positioning and more importantly includes how many countries it allows the person to visit and which countries. Cameroon passports currently rank 60 in the world, sounds decent except each tier often holds more than one country (number 1 is United Arab Emirates, no 2 is France/Germany/Italy/Netherlands/Luxembourg/Spain/Austria/Switzerland, no 3 etc etc) and Cameroon lists along with many other countries where visas can only be granted on successful application. Cameroon can visit 60 countries visa free, for reference New Zealand at no 6 can visit 173. Sorry for the long chat man, but I heard you say it may have been to do with skin colour and I couldnt stop thinking about it for a few hours lol I dont think Immigration NZ is so prejudiced only because loads of black American's visit no problem or black British peeps. I believe it is the strength of your passport, unfortunate but if you watch "Border Security" a reality show filming life at Sydney International airport there are many scenes with people of all colours going through the same checks you experienced. Btw your vid part with the boys recruiting that guy was amazing. Peace be with you brother, safe travels.

@@IvainTures great vids of Aotearoa(NZ), so happy you had fun here, the Mad Butcher said we don't say black because to this day some white people still refer to us Maori/Polynesians as black people in a racist way, as a country it can be good and very nice, but also has a divided racist side to it, just one of those things that will never go away, safe travels to you're next destination and hope you come back again, kia ora bro
