Fiji, a country in the South Pacific, is an archipelago of more than 300 islands. It's famed for rugged landscapes, palm-lined beaches and coral reefs with clear lagoons. Its major islands, Viti Levu and Vanua Levu, contain most of the population. Viti Levu is home to the capital, Suva, a port city with British colonial architecture. The Fiji Museum, in the Victorian-era Thurston Gardens, has ethnographic exhibits

With its rugged coastline, palm-lined coral beaches, and lagoons, Fiji is an ideal destination for those seeking a tropical climate. But beyond the utopian landscape is a multicultural society burdened with a health crisis. If you enjoyed the video, kindly hit that đ button and subscribe. Thanks đ
Ivan before you visit a country try and do a research about that country.I hope you have contributed some of your wealth to that family for giving their time and enabling you to create your content and get your money every month through your channel.
Thanks so much for watching!
That is so sad. As indigenous Fijian, someone has to stand up to help this situation. To my seventh day adventist religion in Fiji. This is what we should do to help our people like this.
Yes please. I'm a Seventh Day Adventist in PNG and I believe Church must visit them.
Bula my family. Yes. I don't know what our church is doing today in fiji. I can see the spirit of God really works in ur home land. I cry đą đ. It shows me how you guys work together as one. It's really breaks my heart to see church members walking mountains to mountains and carrying the baby on their bk and the food . It's so emotional đą đ. It's the history on this planet earth, I guess. I believe that history will be written in heaven and it will be written in the bible.
God bless đ my family's in Papua.
The trick is to be happy with what you have and be grateful..... please nobody complain about social welfare because non of us deserve free money....just be grateful with what you have.....always remember their is always someone in are much situation than you are, so just be grateful and stop complaining about every little thing.....life is hard get are helmet and push through
Thanks so much for watching!
I live in Fiji, I blame excessive kava consumption as well late night kava cessions, diet is a big problem too much starchy and oily foods
Oh I see. I didnât realize Kava was so sweet. Thanks for the feedback. Fiji đ«đŻ to the world!
The diet of both native fijians and indo-fijians have very high sugar content - both added sugar as well as natural sugar/starch in the form of root crop staples, adding sugar to tea, rice, flour, sweets, oily food which are taken on a daily basis, with very little daily physical activity and alot of sitting down around grog bowls. All these add up
Thanks for the info! Itâs very sad!
The wages in Fiji are very low, and the food prices are too high. There are many multimillion-dollar hotels, but the staff are paid very little. This is why people are moving overseas for better opportunities. Last week, Fiji Water staff went on strike due to these issues. I hope that our country will improve one day. I appreciate the positivity and passion the bed ridden guy has for his country. Yes, diabetes is very high in Fiji because of our diet. We consume too much oily food and carbs, and we drink alot of raw sugar. In every household, a normal breakfast is tea and bread with four tablespoons of sugar in one cup of tea thats normal. We need to change our diet and need a dramatic change for every household.
Thanks for your video, much Love , now you gotta try some kava. đđđ
Thanks so much for watching! Wow I had no idea about the tea and sugar daily. It sounds like a lot. I still think people in the US consume a lot more than that. The % seems too high.
Thanks for the heads up about the wages as well. Iâm not ready for Kava yet đ
I guess you was one of general manager in one of the 5 star resort. How come you didn't set the standard of staff wages in that resort.
@@dannykoyamaibole1647 you mad bro ?
Not Just Fiji but most of the Islands in the South pacific have the same problems.. American Samoa eat lots of canned and processed foods that is ship there and is supported by the U.S. Government
đź i didnât know that! Thanks crazy!
Yes same ,Vanuatu my country
I am amazed at the spirit of this family to stay strong despite all the challenges. â€ïžđ”đŹ.
Very true!
Ivain, , the medical facilities in many Pacific nations eg. Fiji , Tonga, Western Samoa do have their limitations. There is huge issues with heart disease and kidney diseases and transplants can not be done in some countries. This why there is so much amputation done there. Some patients are transferred to Australia and New Zealand in some cases. This another reason why work visas that lead to Residency are sort after by Pacific Islanders. Some also have treatment for cancer and head injuries in Australia and NZ. There are charities from both countries that do work over there and send Doctor's over to assess health issues. Some procedures can be done in the Islands with the medical charities. Cataracts and other eye surgery is in demand too .
Thanks so much for watching and explaining that. It is a very sad. I always appreciate your feedback.
Yes, they have support from Australia and New Zealand, but we foreigners cannot interfere in their culture! The previous government there was not welcoming! Indians are the second culture of Fiji! Rehab is the most important, he doesn't look to be totally incapacitated, his back is not properly supported there! Surely there is free retraining for all of them! đ€š
Interesting video, Ivain. The first thing that comes to my mind when I hear Fiji is a beautiful tropical country that's known for one of the best exotic vacation destinations, but I never knew this side of the country existed. That family is really going through a hard time. It's really sad to hear their story. I could only imagine how many other cases like this exist throughout the country. I hope they'll get much needed help after people watch this video. I have heard about the high cases of diabetes in Fiji. I hear that poor diet is one of the major causes. Thank you for sharing this video. Great content. I enjoyed watching đđđ.
Thanks a lot for the feedback. Yes as you stated, diet is a huge part of it. I just feel like we eat worse in the United States. Still, we have a lower percentage of diabetes diagnosis. Itâs a little bit tough. Thanks for watching !
I have been to Fiji! The fruit, vegetables and seafood is readily available and fresh!
Well said, Mike. According to the International Diabetes Federation approximately 33% of Fijians are diabetic and Fiji have the world's highest mortality rate from this chronic disease. They're organizations that are working to improve diabetes care and awareness in the country. They're educating Fiji communities on risk factors, and advocate for healthier lifestyles. Monitoring health and blood sugar levels with regular check ups. Let's all hope for the best against this disease đ.
In every country, they have their good & bad sides.đ„°
Keep up the good work Ivain đ
Thank you, I will! Thanks for watching!
That taxi driver Is a conman be verry carefull đđ always like to complain and talk about others

Hello Ivian.. I have another family in Nadi, 29 years old son had a contract to work in island , he had big incident while working on his job . Families contacted the owner of the company for medical was no reply. After 8 years this kid was in wheelchair he passed away last April 2024. Please contact me so I can provide more information
Good video it is not easy to ask the hard question. Much Respect!
Thanks for watching bro!
The crutch of this issue:
The injured person, was this injury reported to the Ministry of Employments Workers Comp.
Either accept Workers Comp decision on the Award of the percentage of the Incapacity or Take it thru Civil Court for higher monetary Award in reference to the percentage of incapacity.
On the difficulty to gain employment, first and foremost they are unqualified in any trade hence hard to gain employment.
To get employment with well pay, with no qualification they can get employed as unskilled labour.....
Sad but the ball is in their court to survive.....
Thanks for the feedback. I appreciate you watching!
love the content .. God Bless Bro
For me, a fiji native, fiji is paradise; better than most african countries. Most people complaining would, nevertheless, pay $200 to see ranbir kapoor if he comes to perform in fiji.
So sad to see the real Fiji. I hope for the best for these beautiful family.
Thanks for the video. May I ask where you were with this family? Nadi? Suva?
Nadi. Thanks so much for watching!
Please stop badgering the family in that way...a seasoned traveller like you should know that in many poorer countries things just doesnt work out like in the west...try to understand that.
Nobody is badgering. Iâm simply asking questions so people know and understand. The video isnât made for what I understand or not. In fact, it is for the general public. An interview is to clarify and explain not to badger. Thanks watching!
Wow ! Shame on you ! Go back and watch the video again and ask yourself did that man needs help or no ?didnât you see it ? What are you trying to say here ? Get your nagative and go somewhere else
He said no one is talking about it, that's not true, this has been covered, especially on the U.S. West Coast. Since we have large P.I. population
Ivain I think you need to work on your interviewing skills. You come across that way but you need to listen clearly and understand before asking the next question as they repeated themselves numerous times. Be more sympathetic and more respectful. You may mean well, but you come across as arrogant and ignorant. As you asked the mother what she had to say, she told you continuously to talk with her son as you could clearly see she was uncomfortable but you continued to have the camera in her face. Also you made the brother seem like he was just sitting around doing nothing, he also was and has been helping out all these years. The mother cannot carry him around let alone lift and move him when needed, that is what the brother was helping with. Just use common sense at times, because you can hear their story without having the camera up their faces. Videos aren't always about the content captured visibly but about the story that is being told and the meaning behind it. Just some advise as a viewer because this what we see. Bless that family and your travels. â€
What is the purpose of yr travel to Fiji may I ask? Are you going to give any practical help to these humble families you've interviewd or are you trying to promote Africa?
Good video king â€â€â€â€â€â€â€â€â€â€â€â€â€â€ big respect đ đ
Thanks so much for watching!
I hope you gave that family some money for asking them such personal questions.. this seemed like a stressful interview for themâŠ
Thanks a lot for watching! Many things happen off camera. They are fine and yes they were taking care of.
Who is this, where does he come from??
They have a very nice home compared to some places in Africa.
Vinaka Ama, I'm very unconscious đ
Fiji is not the best but like some other countries it is way safer and simpler,"even on a sunny day there is shade".The everyday problems faced in this country in is bearable and basic but still you know, majority of the world have it way worse.Whats the worst that could happen to you in Fiji as a tourist over priced services, products and overconfident yoke reviews I guess that only happens in Fiji.Surprisingly, they have a welfare program I heard and free healthcare also insurance not bad and seems like their cultures and religions get along remarkably well that's a first considering all countries are the same like Fiji... speaking of cultures what about the others that make up Fiji?.. Who are they?...I heard they have natives can you interview them since your there to see the Fijians and not just Indians...The natives kind i look African in the market places and the vibes feel similar.
Thank you for your feedback. Your comment is also appreciated. My very first video in Fiji has different group of people. Also, thereâs more coming. Thanks so much for watching!
Luck they survive and talking now.
Fijiđ«đŻđ«đŻđ«đŻ the world should be.
Brother Ivan, your travels and indigenous local issues are impactful; you should be doing this more. by every country you travel to. This would boost your channel. Showing both parts of having fun as a tourist and also locals and their daily problems
Thanks a lot for watching and the feedback. Itâs truly appreciated!

After all that interview, did he help them in some form..
My friend, all countries have their challenges, you seem to forget the issues your own country faces, whether it be USA or your country of origin. We Fiji Islanders do the best we can, and we aren't a first world country.
All families in Fiji have their own challenges, we do the best we can to survive, some make it out at the end. It is also about individual choices and if the individuals dont want to come out of their current situation, then that is their personal choices!
Thank you for your comment. Reading it indicated to me that you are not familiar with my channel, my content or the idea behind my videos.
The one thing we agree on is that every country has problems. If you actually spend the time looking at my videos, you will realize that I have addressed in great lengths, several issues in the US (where I live).
I have videos in the USA on various topics including: the homeless crisis, marital issues, child custody, healthcare issues, security issues, immigration, and much more.
Iâm not sure why you have an issue with me bringing awareness to the health crisis in Fiji. This is what I choose to do as a CZcamsr if you donât like it itâs okay.
Attacking me doesnât do anything because Iâll just film more of this kind of content. Iâm very interested and focused on issues in the countries where I travel. Iâm not here to film the beach and make commercials.
This what my version of a documentary. If somehow it bothers you, ask yourself why but your comment is misguided and quite ridiculous.
Iâm allowed to make an observation about issues in the world. Not you or anyone will restrict me to only my home country or where I live.
Iâm a world traveler and much more to come. Thanks for watching !
â@@IvainTures Exactly what I was thinking, and I haven't even seen videos of your other travels but still get the general idea of your experience.
Very sad that all of the family are affected due to the brothers accident, also I suppose they feel obliged to help him also because he built the house too. Working would help their financial situation if 3 were allowed to work more and maybe a carer could be employed if more income was flowing in for them.
Is very true. Itâs very sad indeed thanks so much for watching!
What you have in ur country doesn't apply in our Pacific islands. Try n fix ur country mishaps first.
Not at all. I will Keep traveling and making documentaries all around the world. Im a

I am wondering if it too much CAVA that they drink ???

The world is not what is incorrectly portrayed by many world powers.
For some context there is a massive brain drain of skilled and technical workers. Health care professsionals is no exception.
Everything should be understood into context. Fiji just came out of 16 years of great challenges leaving many critical services not really taken care of the way it was done in past.
Your video didn't seem to take that into account for some reason.
Despite the challenges we faced everyday we still love our country.â€ïžIt might sound stupid to you Ivain but remember this is Fiji not India or Africa where poverty is on another level. đŹItâs true what this family said âWeâve got everything we need here in our country, weâve got lands, we plant our own food & we look after each other.â€ïž
It doesnât sound stupid at all. It was actually a compliment when I said that. Thanks a lot for watching!
Elainture. I curious those trying to criticize you in a manner of shut up, certainly not seems Fijians! Great work sir.

Diabetes is a major problem in Fiji because of lifestyle and attitude towards personal health. Medical services is free. If you dont have diabetes you will because of the diet for both native Fijians and Indo-Fijians..if you have diabetes already you will get amputated because of attitude.
Thatâs very sad. Thanks for watching!
Diabetes is a major problem in all the South Pacific islands mainly because of their diet..
Lots of canned foods, corn beef and fish. Etc
I wonder if that drink that they drink for alcohol đž one never know
This is the first time I came across this guy's video. For sure it is sad but I would be happy if you rephrase your title to something encouraging than demolishing. It's not a crisis and I guess not Fiji alone faces problems like this. May I ask, where you from? Have you done anything to help the people where you came from rather than picking on someone else's backyard for your dirty popularity. Fiji is always a nice country but like every other country they have their own disabilities. Next time fix yourself up first before others. Thank you
Thanks so much for watching! Iâm from the world. I wonât change my title. I didnât ask for a consultant but I appreciate the free unsolicited advise. Much more to come!
Diabetes is a crisis.
In New Zealand hospitals are full of people of Pacific Island descent with this disease. Culture and diet and low income are part of the problem.
It is well known that the hospitals in the smaller nations can do only so much medical intervention. Dialysis is not always easy to obtain in the smaller outer Islands of these nations due to distance and lack of medical facilities.
Same with advanced maternity care.
@@user-cx7mp8pe8h thanks for pointing this out. Some people are just mad for no reason. I appreciate your valuable inputs.
The Fiji water is hella expensive. I wonder in whoâs pocket this money goes but surely not the locals
I am a Fijian and I admire how this family survived for this long despite the daily struggles they face each day. It proves that we Fijians are resilient people and will not be discouraged by any challenges that come our way for the sake of surviving and enjoying the freedom and company of loved ones. Most people in Fiji despite the hardships they face, are happy because of the environment they are in. I plead with the government of the day to reach out and provide intervention programs in promoting Health and well-being and training in our diverse communities. God Bless my beautiful Fijiđ«đŻđ«đŻâ€ïžđ

You better go and interview the people in your country. I think fiji is better then where you come from. Try and solve the problems in your country first before coming to fiji.
Iâm planning to run for president. Then Iâll fix all the problems in my country. For now Iâm a youtuber. So thanks for the view and the comment. Iâm saving this money for my presidential campaign. Since you so good at advice you will be my advisor. Thanks đđœ

Sorry, I think that you went to far. Have some respect. I'm indigenous, but not all of them a conman but most of indigenous to a conman.
Health crisis?? get your facts right..
Thanks for watching. Yes health CRISIS!. Maybe you are okay with all the amputations and Fiji having 33% of its population affected but Iâm not.
Everyone seems to have a health problem here. And you standing while throwing personal questions is not helping.
I know !!! How dare is a youtuber asking questions ? Thatâs odd you know ? Also, making a documentary and observing an issue that affects people is not helping at all. Itâs best to keep it quiet. đ€« i agree! Ignorance is best!!! Thanks for your feedback !
