London is like Little Gothenburg, but without a strong economy and a beautiful archipelago.
I think you will like Gothenburg better that Stockholm, a bit slower pace and in general I think people there are more social and open to talk to strangers (at least that's my impression from visiting both). And bring your kids and wife next time, there is tons of fun for kids in Gothenburg.
Im so glad he explained Gothenburg, becuse I live there.. everything is kind of normal (a bit dull) for me!
In anyway, we did get a visitor from USA.. total panic, she want to see the city!
She made it 500 meters in to Haga, no shoes for walking, especialy not on cobble stones!
However.. for family.. Liseberg (amusmentpark), Slottskogen (open park like Djurgården), Trädgårdsföreningen (horticultur park), Maritiman (mostly navy ships), Aeroseum, (mostly airforce things) and on a day with good weather, take a trip to our archipelago! Paddan ofcourse, boatride for the most at our canals!
I would be such a bad guide and just trow you in at Post Hotell or Gothia Towers!
Newer ever think about rent a car.. becuse.. the Big dig, they dig up the whole city, becuse they want the railway to go underneath! I rather recomend a tourist "Västtrafikort" for those days! I think you alredy figured out that public transportation kinda works??
And one must watch the Shoreline stone.. or its more for us that grown up in Gothenburg??
Gothenburg is on the shoreline.. but its more about highschooll kids, thats on the shoreline, to be adults!

I love Gothenburg. The city is relaxed. My hometown my happy place
Come and visit Kiruna. The northest city in Sweden. Here is Icehotel, you can see the northen light and musch more!
Gotland was also Danish for about 300 years. Became Swedish in 1645. Before it became Danish, they were their own. And Visby belonged to the Hanseatic League.
Feels like he missed over half of it.. moved here for over 23 years ago but the west coast is for me the salty sea and so much lovely islands as you as a tourist can easily reach by a network of ships.
I don´t know where you find that dude but he is not doing a good job as a treveler.
If you visit Gothenburg you should also travel a bit north of it and visit some of the coastal villages there. Maybe Marstrand because it's fairly close. Otherwise further north we have among many others Smögen and Lysekil
The public transport is not that bad. I live in a small town outside of Gothenburg so we end up going there by train a lot cus it's bigger, and we always ride the trams without problem. And all those museums and places he mentioned are really great, I have lots of childhood and recent memories from them. Allso as a teen with limited money, the best street to get a drink at is Andra Långgatan. it's cheap and has very cozy bars, it feels more welcoming there in my opinion. Avenyn is where the annoying kids go.
Athough i love Gothenburg since it's my city but i must agree it's not very car/drive friendly. The central parts are more or less a nightmare especially the area we call "inside the moat". When you think you've finally learned how to get to a certain street/place then they have changed it again! This due to some major construction that goes on forever...at least that's how it feels! The public transportations i'd say are in general ok as long as you don't live too far away from the city itself. Yes i'm most likely biased but Aeroseum is one of the coolest museums in Sweden! It was build as a hangar for the airforce and was expanded over the years. They choosed to build the base within the mountain so it would survive a atomic bomb! When the base shut down the last guy switched off the light and locked and it became more or less forgotten. The idea was to fill the whole place up with concrete but due to lots of protests and with the assistance of Swedish National Heritage Board the base was saved. When the people from SNHB first got there they got very enthusiastic since everything was left untouched!
Gothenburg certainly got some unique attractions like Universeum and Liseberg and a couple of museums well worth a visit. Other from that it’s a rather small city and you don’t need too much time covering it.
The people aren’t always that nice, can be rather arrogant and rude at times, but as a visitor you’ll mind your own business, right. But no Swedish city compares to Copenhagen in terms of openness and being relaxed, it’s a cultural difference between our two countries.
As a person who was born and raised in Gothenburg, I am having a super tough time with what it has become and what has been going on the past 5 years or so... It's pure misery and the worst part is that these constructions will never cease. Because everytime they finish a project, or cancel a project they jump straight into something else and can never do something the city needs... And it's wasting money like hell... Thanks left-block...
You have to visit Liseberg with your family! According to me the best themepark in the world
10:15 ish, those painted/grafitti walls are planking shielding/protection for one of the big holes dug for constructing, at great cost and dubious/questioned actual utility, of s railway tunnel and a few underground stations. This one's at Korsvägen (lit. The crossroad), one of the bus and tram hubs of the city, right near Liseberg.
I'm not 100 % but I think the pandemic was a reason, of not the only one, this time to celebrate two years too late.
17:34 it's because you don't feed the birds in the outdoor areas.
People are much nicer in Gothenburg than Stockholm if I have to be very honest
The pronunciation of kex here in Göteborg only follows Swedish pronunciation rules. An e after a k makes the k sound like sh. Of course kex is originally a loan word so that's why most Swedes pronounce it with a k sound, is too new to have adapted to the Swedish pronunciation rules everywhere in the country.
we say kex with sh sound in Skåne too
look up city of Helsingborg in Skåne
About the enormous amount of money to regain Älvsborg fortress:
Only 40 years later, Carl X Gustaf forced Denmark to cede Bohuslän as well as Halland and Skåne (all the counties along the entire west coast and in southern Sweden) 😉.
About inferiority complexes and stuff:
Those of us living in the rest (best parts) of Sweden, prefer to call Stockholm ”Fjollträsk” ≈ a boggy lake filled with poofters (british slang 🤷) or ”Tjockhult” ≈ a small country village with megalomania 😉.

Did you try out max burger?
Yeah, Rock baren is the best. But you have to like Hard Rock or metal 😀
