I definitely think you were a different person when you came back to Denmark. You had become more confident. The next trip will be even better. Now you are truly Dar the traveler.

Happy you liked it in Copenhagen. Hope you come back, but then you must go a little further up north of Copenhagen to The Castle of Frederiksborg. You will be amazed. It is brilliat with lots of treasures to see! You may even go further up to Helsingnoer to Kronborg Castle the castle of Hamlet. It is by the ocean. Very beautiful
Being in Copenhagen you must of cource visit Tivoli too, especially if you bring children. It is charming both at day light and even more by night with old lamps standing or hanging up in the trees to illuminate the whole park like a fairy tale 🎉🎠🎡🕌
The Blue Planet is worth visiting too.
Denmark is a small country, so maby you would like to visit Legoland in Jylland. As you might know, Lego was invented in Dennark and Legoland is a big amusement park with lots of things built out og lego and with lots to experience for both parents and children.
I could go on and on......Denmark has a lot to offer and we love people to come visit.
You and your family will be so welcome here😊

Now, if some of his Danish fans around the country could put them up for a night or two, they could save on accomodation 🤔 A DSB rejsepas - free travel for 8 days for an adult + two kids under 12 cost DKK 399,-
If they need a break from Danes, they can camp for free in shelters all over the country - and the prices for food outside Copenhagen are more managable 😉😉

if it's a better time for you to travel in may or September with you job the weather tends to be nice in Scandinavia then and there is less tourists so maybe a possibility to get less expensive tickets in early may or late Sept. do google visit Copenhagen or visit Denmark before coming again, that way you can plan what to see, it's quite easy to take direct train from city to city, you will also find ways to save money on Copenhagen card if you want to visit a lot of museums, castles or Tivoli ect. there are more than 80 attractions covered by the card

I tried to tell you that the trains to and from sweden stop at the airport. I didn't mention Ørestad as I didn't know that was where you booked hotel... but yeah, you could have avoided the central station on both your travel days 🙂 but I know that it may be difficult to explain to someone not used to public transport.
Happy that you learned and got confident enough to improvise second time around.
Edit: Cabinn, WakeUp and Zleep hotels are just that... small cabins with just the necessities. They're not big nor fancy, but usually modern and clean. If you want it cheaper you'll have to look for hostels with shared showers etc.
Edit2: ticket fines are a nice fixed 750 DKK, roughly $100, you can then complain to customer service if you think it was unfair, and perhaps have it reduced.. being a student or having partly gotten the right ticket will usually give you a reduction. Being a foreigner I would be afraid that they insist you pay immediately I'm afraid... the metro from airport to Nørreport has got to be the largest money machine for them... many tourists don't understand our system.
Edit 3: people say Danes are introverted and reserved, until they meet our neighbours... we're an odd mix of Scandinavian, English, Dutch and German... I blame the neighbours 😀 if the north sea was a nation/culture that would be us.
