    Cool to see the oem bearings and gaskets instead of a wrench rabbit kit. The only thing I can recommend are the seals on the 2 transmission bearings. On my CR250 I took them off because they will get more oil. I think that honda the part number of those bearings is for many other applications. I just think it will help oil the bearings better. Everything looks awesome and the vapor blasting is a 10/10.

    • @MichaelSabo
      @MichaelSabo  Pƙed 4 lety

    I got to say your right the ESR silencer looks like a better piece with the seals in side it but I have always thought they look out of place on a 250r......too modern for my taste. I love the look of the CT with the turn down but then again that's my 2 cents! Just like my LED Silencer they sent one without a turn down and I emailed Arlan about it and he said send it back and they will gladly put a turn down on it!! Love that look on a 2 stroke!

    When port matching, you need to figure out how much the crankcase gasket squishes down to when tightened and then shim the 2 case halves with feeler gauges...Then match up the spacer to the cylinder base/case to get the best simulation on port match flow.

    Sorry I have to add that a wodden bench IS NOT a perfect surface! He is sanding on an incosistant surface and he is not rotating the parts, so if there is a highspot in the table he is contacting it in the same area on the case and most of the metal is being removed at that high point. Also a figure 8 motion is best. IMO you would be beter off skipping this unless you have an actual Lapping Block. Try some red grease or machinists Bluing Paste and put a very light coat on the surface of one case half and bolt the halfs together and take them back appart and look at the contact print left on the dry half, this will show you IF there are any problems. If you feel you need to do this, Engine/transmission rebuild shops, Hydraulic shops, Macine shops should have Lapping tables or benches. they are surface ground perfectly flat. If you choose to do this as shown in the video color the area you are going to lapp with a magic marker to show your progress and rotate the part 90 deg. every few strokes to make sure the work is done evenly. One other thing 350 grit will cut aluminum pretty quickly. Keep in mind that this surface is keeping oil in and on many engines there is no gasket to allow a few thousanths of an inch inperfection, they are metal to metal with a sealant like Yamabond 4 by Yamaha. One more thought is that in a very extreme scenario if you did this too much and caused a miss- alignment like the parts not mating tight with out bolts, binding and warpage will happen when bolting it together causing stress on all the internal parts, Could cause missed shifts and premature wear.

    • @MichaelSabo
      @MichaelSabo  Pƙed 2 lety

      This is true; I now use a piece of granite to surface my cases. I did check to see if my slab of bench was flat when I was using it and I got lucky I guess because I've never had a leak but you're definitely correct.
