- Steel darts are fascinating... so small, so pretty, so pointy.
But truth be told, as a projectile they aren't really very well suited. Made to be thrown by hand over very short distances, they are typically very fragile. You can't shoot them like a normal crossbow bolt or arrow as the flights would simply crumble.
But we NEVER give up! With this new concept, we can now use these little sports products really effectively...

I think it is not for drying the wood but for warming the wood for better oil soak up.

@@Dapstart Aa, ok. I heard about this technique (microwave or regular oven) for preheating wood before oiling. And while I didn't catch anything about drying in this video and because he was oiling wood just after microwave I thought it was the true reason :)

KY GameTech good thought KY. I have a pistol grip crossbow that will shoot down arts or bearings and it is really hard to cock. It uses a steel cable tho. I would really like it except the safety is undependable. Kinda dangerous. Maybe Jorge will look into it. He seems pretty handy.

The amount of work you put in is, as you say, BAD ASS! No bullshit, no teasers, no cliffhangers. Most other youtubers would chop this video up in three videos, one trailer, one of those annoying new pictures, an outro and a best-of summary.

THIS IS FUCKED UP ...you should not even show this build such way, i guarante someone will drive a dart through their hand and some become cripple for life.
What you need to do is some cover in shape of V placed/mounted between the fork arms that goes on top of your hand holding handle, so if one of those bad shots happen dart won't penetrate your joint.
here is an idea:put glow sticks in arrows(or something similar)and you will have tracer ammo
There are actually some nocks for arrows that glow. They look pretty amazing in the dark.

There needs to be a test but I suspect Jörg's first dart might disable the machine... and kill it!
On a serious not tho, I suspect with the dart not flying true until the later stages of flight it might get close but the chances of bullseye will be a lot less than a correctly thrown dart.

Was shooting steel darts 60 years ago as a kid from a standard slingshot, I found it far better to place the dart point down, flight up, it clears the “Y” fork better and settles into straight flight faster, lost too many darts and became to costly, your a genius, love your videos 👍

50 years from now, we will have developed the technology to communicate with inanimate objects. Someone will see Jeorg’s barn and notice all the nicks, holes, chips, and dings. Not being familiar with the Slingshot Channel, their initial thought will be that the barn just aged gracefully as a result of exposure to the elements. Conversation will go something like this:
Future Human: “Wow, Mr. Barn, you certainly have some war wounds. I’d love to hear about the things you’ve seen. I’ll bet you’ve endured everything from blizzards, hail storms, scorching heat, and all manners of events courtesy of good ole Mother Nature, huh?

My father grew up during the depression south of Houston Texas. He made a crossbow out of an oak 1X4 . A piece of heavy duty aluminum for the bow. He used tire inter tube and made the locking part out of coat hanger. Of course he made short arrows. This dart thing is amazing.

When I was a kid, we would get some small tubing, tape it to a pipe, then take a needle and roll scotch tape around the back to make a funnel shape. Those darts were so awesome! This was a simple way to make a blow-gun and a few times, I actually pegged a fly to a wall from over ten feet because the were so accurate. Not much power but an extremely precise and accurate weapon at 5 to 40 or 50 feet. Having access to the Anarchist Cookbook at the time, I really wanted to experiment with quik-injection darts but soon fount that it was very time consuming and machining experience is really necessary to get the thing to work right.
Not that I knew what the hell going to tranquilize or poison once I had one but you know how kids are...

There is a spear gun in the film, that Jason Voorhees himself uses, in the third film, and I think if you wore a Jason Mask, whilst firing one, would make for a great video, perhaps specially for Halloween. Also it would make you look super bad ass. Also, one reason why I think you should build the said weapon, is it contains a large rubber contraption.

Question: Why not hold it with the point downward, so that the flight is completely clear of the arm and the crotch of the slingshot?
Yes and also, the length of the forks could be shorter.
Maybe because aiming is easyer with the point up instead of the tail ?
Am thinking that with point up if the fins hit the bottom of the Y as it crosses and then flips them up, then gravity will kick in and counter-balance some of that effect and it will spend more time going straight. With the tip launched downward, am thinking it's all gravity pushing the fins down. Just a guess,... prob only Jorge would know for sure.

They had a far superior tank division, properly working handheld automatic rifles first, better planes and better trained soldiers.
