    I have an idea for a compact cocking aid that can be integrated into the stock. Use a retractable string that is connected to a geared winch. Everytime, you pull the string, it will turn the winch(which uses a gear box for easier cocking) and once you're done cocking, just let go of the string and it will retract back into the stock. (You had a video demonstrating an idea for a high torque rubber powered motor and I think that mechanism would be perfect for retracting the string.)
    Joerg please reply if you think this is a good idea.

    • @Xenro66
      @Xenro66 Před 7 lety +12

      What you're describing makes me think of a lawnmower pull start, but with a ratchet and a reduction gear for torque. Great idea, I think it would work well on this crossbow.

    • @4xdblack

    • @guyfarting9987
      @guyfarting9987 Před 7 lety +4

      4xdblack
      A lever would take up too much space. If you try to shorten it, then you won't have enough leverage. The retractable system would be conceiled in the weapon.
      Edit: Remember Joerg not only wants a crossbow to be fast cocking. He also wants it to look good.

Also there should be a heating system involved so your hands are always cozy temperatured. And maybe he could attach an espresso maker somewhere to the design. I really want one of those. You should go into production. You would sell a lot of them to lunatics like me, 😄 ... Secondly...
    Damn Joerg. You're looking fit and healthy my friend. It looks like you dropped 10-15 kilos. But you look like you not only kept the muscle, but added to it. Keep up the good work, and the great vids. And if you do decide to sell one or two of those crazy crossbows. Let me know 😄

    Wird der Akkuschrauber mit einem Winkel Getriebe kombiniert kann der "Pistolengriff " des Akkuschraubers 1zu1 in das Design integriert werden. M.f.G.Niko

    If you want to use electrical ratchets for stuff like this, you could integrate a some sort of pulley mechanism into the winch.
    You could easily half the force needed when using some sort of gearbox

    • @chri1505
      @chri1505 Před 7 lety +2

      Mit einer elektrischen Winde wäre es m.E. noch besser

    • @mrkiky
      @mrkiky Před 6 lety +1

      Or he just needs more teeth on the wheel. If one impact from the ratchet is able to get past one tooth, then it wouldn't spin back.

    • @IndieMarkus
      @IndieMarkus Před 6 lety +2

      Hmm, that's not really a suitable solution, since it would put too much stress on the teeth. High impact on smaller (and therefore thinner and less sturdy) teeth would wear them out too much in the long run. Using impulsive forces is not suitable for other reasons as well, since it would probably be unpleasant if the crossbow was rattling or vibrating instead of smoothly winding up.
      Another advantage of a pulley mechanism is that smaller, less powerful electrical motors could be used, since they would not have to be as strong as the ratchet.

      Maybe something like the double-pistol grip on the Mossberg M-1100 P? Obviously it would still need a stock for aiming stability, but you'd get increased grip from having a decent sized handle that can be dragged back, snagging the string on both sides (say a double-hook setup). Maybe even internalize it, have it run on rails. Of course you'll need a snap-in mechanism when it's in the full-forward position to "lock" it in place and provide stability. Maybe released by a smaller trigger on the forward grip?
      Yes, I love weapons. The current build is extremely impressive, and these are just the requested hypotheses on improving an already great design.

    I love making my own bows, and I have blue-prints for an old recurve crosbow designed by a BSA scout master in the 1800s that I'd love to recreate. It even explains the process to select and boil the wood to shape the limbs. Gotta love that inventive spirit!

You are right to be proud of this achievement - especially after you were generous enough _not_ to patent your designs so that everyone who wants to can build it free of licencing fees. I wonder if a pneumatic cylinder would have enough force to push (pull) the sled. Was thinking about two long cylinder and a paintball co2 tank.Then do the two step trigger, one step would release the air from the cylinder to move the sled back into neutral position and second stage would fire the bolt.
