  • In this video, I show how I installed my Rev-A-Shelf Mixer Lift. It is a very handy kitchen item that saves counter top space. Here is a link to the item at HD. I am not a professional and not the most handiest person with power tools and such but i got the job done. Let me know if you have any questions !

    #10 wood screws: 3/4 inch - For mixer lift (6 Total)
    #8 wood screws : 1/2 inch - For mixer lift shelf (8 Total)
    3/32 Drill bit
    Power drill
    Screw Driver
    Table Saw/Miter Saw: for straight cuts

    So glad I found your video! My miser lift instructions only discuss face frame cabinet installation and I thought to myself, “self, your IKEA cabinet side wall isn’t thick enough for the included screws. How thick does the side support need to be?
    You answered this very nicely. Thank you!

    I wanted this shelf to be even with the cabinet top, I won’t have a door on cabinet so can I install a little higher to make it even with the counter top?

    I noticed when your shelf it up and locked, there is a gap between the shelf and the counter. Also height wise, the shelf is not flush with the counter. Do you think these issues can be improved/optimized? It seems to me the shelf height issue could be solved by using a thicker lift shelf, or maybe screwing in the shelf higher up in the cabinet. Also, in my case, I am building a kitchen island from scratch so I need to know how far apart to build the cabinet sidewalls but I have looked at over 20 web sites with no success. They all talk about measuring the distance between the brackets and subtracting 1.25 inches. What I need to know is how much to add (not subtract) to the shelf width to be be flush with the mounting surface of the bracket. The bracket appears to have a 1 inch joggle on each side (2 inches total). Thus if my shelf 13.5 inches wide, I would add 1.25 (per instructions) + 2 inches (for joggles) for a total of 16.75 inches and I would build my sidewalls 16.75 inches apart. Maybe the joggle is 0.75 inches????

    AWESOME! Thank you so much for sharing. I'm just about to install my Mixer lift into an ikea cabinet and your video was posted just in time! It is such a help…
    Just out of curiosity, what did you use for the support panels. I'm using ikea cabinet shelves since they are the right length and thickness already, I just have to cut the 6" height. Does that sound OK do you think??

      Ikea cabinet shelves work perfectly. That's what I used in my installation. I had two extra shelves that fit just right and like you, I just had to cut the 6" height.

    Well, I have a Q: If you have an Ikea cabinet with a drawer above it can you just move the whole thing down and install it? Of course the lift would only go up to the bottom of the drawer height, and you would not put a basket below it), but the lift would NOT have to clear the handle on the drawer since it would not go that high, right?

      I think I answered my own Q bc it looks like you need the full cabinet height in order for the shelf to work. So loose a drawer, gain a mixer. seems like a fair trade. :)

      litfromabove Yea you can't have a top drawer, it needs alot of clearance but you can add a wire basket at the bottom line I have.

    What are you tightening at 6:40? The left arm on my set isn't as firm as the right and my mixer is off level *only in the extended position, not retracted*, and I can't figure out what to tighten to level it.

    We are designing our IKEA Kitchen, what is the width of the cabinet that you used for this Rev-a-shelf?

    • @boundinashes6
      @boundinashes6  Před 9 lety +1

      This is in a 15 inch cabinet from Ikea, it can be as wide as you like though. The lift mechanism comes with 2 separate pieces that you mount so an 18 inch cabinet or even a 24 inch would work but you would not be able to put any drawers or shelves in it, only a wire basket at the bottom. Good luck with your Kitchen !

    May i please know what is the minimum cabinet depth and height required for this mixer lift .

    • @boundinashes6
      @boundinashes6  Před 9 lety

      I believe the minimum cabinet depth should be 24", i have maybe 3 or 4 inches of room in my 24" when the shelf is stored away. Hope this helps !
