Do you have a Kitchenaid mixer? Do you keep it out or in the cabinet?
You absolutely can add it to with a drawer ... ive built cabinets for 15 years and have used rev a shelf .. you video is misleading... i mean WRONG!
@@dawndavenport9139 would you have any photos or sketches you could share? I’m still unable to and really want to add it to our kitchen!
@@dawndavenport9139 would you have any photos or sketches you could share? I’m still unable to and really want to add it to our kitchen!
@@dawndavenport9139 sorry you are so adamant. 15 years experience does not mean anything. Give details of what you have done would useful. How tall was the mixer and what are the dimensions of the cabinet openind and drawer that you claim works
@@FieldGuidetoDIY I will get this done this week.
I found a way to mount the mixer lift below a drawer and retain full functionality. I will have it finished out soon and would be happy to send you some photos. The solution I found was to cut two slots in the bottom of the cabinet to allow the lift arms to swing below the cabinet bottom into the empty hollow space in the bottom of most cabinets. The mixer will be lower than the counter top when fully retracted. My wife is short and did not see this as a negative. Also, the drawer cannot be used while the mixer is in service. An alternative is to cut out the drawer and mount the mixer lift like the instructions say. I have a 22" wide drawer and considered rebuilding it to a 12" wide drawer, allowing space for the lift. My wife chose to retain the drawer and mount the mixer below it.
Ah, i see. Yeah, this is a new build and I don’t think we’re willing to give up a drawer and make such a drastic modification. I’d like to see how it turns out for you. Thanks so much for watching.
My contractor is about to install this under a drawer this weekend and I don't think he's ever done it before, so I would love to see your photos too! I saw a lot of success stories in Amazon reviews but haven't been able to find any videos. I don't mind losing access to the drawer while the lift is up.
Is the mixer lift installed yet? I would like to see pictures. Thanks.
Mine isn't installed yet (contractor hasn't come back yet). But I read on Amazon that some people were able to make an adjustment to the arms that took them about 10 min to do and it fit just fine without having to cut grooves in the bottom of the cabinet.
@@optobeagle I would like to see this too!
Yes
👍🏻
Accepted that challenge and made it work. Used a solution with a slide out then it hinges up and pushes back in once up.
Joey, that sounds intriguing. I’m not getting my brain around the configuration. Can you see a photo or two to FieldGuidetoDIY at gmail.com? (I don’t think you can post pics in CZcams comments.). Thanks so much for watching!
@@FieldGuidetoDIY Yeh will do. I found your video because I was trying to find if someone else had figured it out before I did so I could copy. I had bought it 2 years ago so was well past return time. The mixer is only at drawer height but my wife was good with that since shes not tall.
I had no issues fitting mine in a cabinet with a drawer and I did not have to modify the cabinet. I installed it to a piece of wood first to measure the exact maximum travel height the arms requires and I have 1/2 inch to spare. I too was able to retain the shelf albeit at the highest position.
Im a cabinet maker and i apprve your comment , what the fuck was he talking about
I built an exact mockup of my cabinet and mixer and there was no way to make it fit without cutting the slots I made.
I want to use two slow close to build a swing out pot and pan shelf for my wife. I think this solution would be perfect... It doesn't need to swing out to the same height as the countertop, it's just to keep her from having to bend over or crouch down to get pots and pans. Going to use two of these for a 24" wide pot and pan under cabinet.
That sounds like a helpful solution. Please let me know how it works for you. I’m very interested in. Thanks so much for sharing and for watching.
Yes, we have a KitchenAid Mixer. We'll keep this in mind when we renovate our kitchen in the future.
We love ours but it is a chore to take out and put away. That’s why we thought the Rev-A-Shelf would work great for us. Not so much. Thx for watching!
Not so sure you tried everything…? Just installed one with a draw above and had no issues whatsoever! Had to raise the anchor point up to 2-3/4 inches below the draw and grind a small amount off the angles at the bottom of the support . But it works perfectly!!!!
Thanks so much Alex! I’m gonna try that and let you know.
Didn’t realize this about the drawer... thank you!
You are quite welcome and thanks so much for watching.
See pictures in Ron all's post.
You can remove the drawer, make a false drawer front that is actually part of a door, so that it still matches the rest of the cabinets, then install the rev-a-shelf.
I've considered that K but these are brand new cabinets and that is quite the alteration. I wanted folks to know this unit either required no drawer in the cabinet or major surgery. Thanks so much for watching.
I wanted to keep the drawer
Install kitchens for a living and installed one of these for a customer in Chicago recently , very good product but requires a cabinet without a drawer , alternatively , you could do away with the drawer and fix the drawer front to the door to make one door face . kind of like a dummy drawer front ..
Kevin, thanks for sharing. A few have commented that it is possible to have a cabinet with a drawer and have the lift but I have not seen it yet. I simply wanted folks to know. We have brand new cabinets so that type of reconstruction was not an option. Thanks so much for watching.
That is exactly the kind of drawer face I have. It swings out on a bottom hinge to reveal a tiny space for a sponge. This may work for me! Thanks.
Jennifer Muller Good deal. Thanks so much for watching.
@@JM-vj2sx that will not work because you need the clearance that you're drawer front takes up. You'll need to remove that tip out drawer and could possibly reuse the drawer face in the manner that the person above mentioned.
Luke, we are actually considering a modification to a cabinet which would swing a faux drawer front up along with the Rev-A-Shelf.
Please explain why you can't install in a cabinet with a drawer above it? I get it won't be at counter height for use, but if you're okay with that, then I don't see the issue. Is there some physical limitations if installed below a drawer?
Jazzman, the swing of the rev-a-shelf along with the mixer would not clear the limited opening of a cabinet shortened because of the drawer.
Thank you so much for that info!!!
You are quite welcome. I’m so glad it helped.
Would love the dimensions of that box. I want to make a Weber stand and install a Rev-a-shelf for a compact grill.
Yes in the comments below
Jonas Irwin 🤣🤣🤣. Thanks so much for watching!
I would love to see the video with the solution too! Can anyone give me the link?
Yes! Is there a way to retro fit with a drawer? I have two spaces that don't have a drawer above...the sink (but they installed a fold out and under the cooktop. But, we've already installed slide outs for my pots and pans...ugh..
Great video!
yolanda stowe well, if I am understanding you correctly you’d like to add a drawer in the space where your sink and stovetop are. Because of the sink bowl and stovetop "guts" you just don’t have the "real estate" behind the drawer front. Let me know if I am misunderstanding you. Hey, thanks so much for watching and for asking.
Yes!
Not only I have the drawers, the cabinets below have two shelves, so only single tier pull-out organizers will work for me.
I bought the rev a shelf for my kitchen aid mixer. I didn’t buy the shelf. Did you make the shelf yourself? If yes, can you point me that video please?
I did not make our own. My wife purchased it as part of the set. You can find it sold separately here - geni.us/Ti5e. As an Amazon Influencer, I earn from qualifying purchases. I also on occasion get products sent for me to review and demonstrate.
Great video - Thanks! I bought this lift and have similar cabinets with a drawer.
After measuring but before installing, it seems to me that if I am using the lift for a device that is lower than a mixer, then I should not have a problem?
I don’t think it will let it come up even with the countertop as designed though. Give it a try and let me know how it goes. Thanks so much for watching.
@@FieldGuidetoDIY you were right. It's not an issue with the height of the mixer, but with the fact that there is not enough height for the arms to swing fully down.
Looks like I will cancel the drawer rather than cut slots in the cabinet base.
I’m still looking for a solution because we really want the functionality of the lift without sacrificing a cabinet drawer.
@@FieldGuidetoDIY There is a video on Amazon that shows in detail how one guy retrofitted with drawer. It's under the reviews for the soft close rev a shelf mixer lift.
@@msmonet Thanks for the information. Gonna make this bad dawg fit and work.👍
Yes - I have 2: 7qt and 4.5 qt
Yes. But I bought it for my breville processor. Its very heavy.
Would it be possible to create for the shelf a box/platform instead? Make it as tall as the height of the drawer and mount the device using the bottom of the drawer as your reference. When you pull the mixer stand up, the box would support the mixer at cabinet height. Possible?
That is a good idea! It just wouldnt be fully at counter top level because of the maximum height of the Rev-a-shelf
@@FieldGuidetoDIY understood, but the platform would compensate for the lowered height of the Rev-A-Shelf Mixer Stand. For example, the installation instructions state that the middle of the mechanism be 4.5" from the bottom of the cabinet top. Using the rail below the drawer you mount the stand using the rail bottom as a guide. In other words 4.5" from the bottom of the rail - although if you note in the instructions there is some thickness associated with the cabinet below the cabinet top. That likely needs to be taken into account. Once you've mounted the mechanism, you fully extend and lift it and measure from the cabinet top to the shelf mount points on the mechanism. This then gives you the box height. Construct a box that mounts to the mechanism. When pulled out the mechanism will present with a "taller" shelf that is even with cabinet top. Make sense? I'm going to draw this up in SketchUp and see if it'll work.
Would you be able to install it lower in the cabinet?
Should have shown us one that was fitted and how it works.
Coming soon. I heard a way to install it in a cabinet with a drawer. Once I get that installed it’ll be posted. Thanks so much!
You should be able to set the drawer at the bottom instead of on top and there’s still plenty of space above the drawer to make it work I don’t see how that would be a problem!
There is no problem if you own a screw gun(hinthint)
This is exactly what I thought would happen when I considered this lift for our kitchen 😑
I'm still trying to figure out a way to make this work. It would really come in handy. I'll post a video on it when I get it figured out. Thanks so much for watching.
Please do not add music to any demo, DIY, tour, wildlife, or cooking show. It is supremely irritating to have this drone in the background making extra noise. The voice is enough. You don't need a voice either. Just cut to the chase and show how it works. This is painfully slow and too much noise to process. This is video, not radio. Show, don't tell.
After all that yakking, you showed us nothing. No install. So bogus.
Jeremy, I greatly appreciate the input. That was an early video and I’m still trying to find what helps the viewer the most. Thanks again!
YOU ABSOLUTELY CAN !!!!!
