    Ok, I just came in from the garage after removing and installing a GM/Bose amplifier in my 2011 Buick Enclave with the Bose option. As a former Buick tech ( 1973-1987) I always take precautions when working around an airbag and electricity. Prior to taking on this repair I disconnected the neg battery cable. I found it easier to remove the ECM and get the connectors, including the airbag connector, out of the way. The connector plugs are color coded for easy reinstall.
    First I wasn't sure if my no audio condition was due to the amp or the radio. My vehicle is equipped with a rear seating sound system and I checked the audio on the rear with headphones and was able to listen to the radio and cd player. This told me that the rear sound system does not use the Bose amplifier and the radio was sending a good signal to the amp. Now to the removal! I was fortunate that whoever installed the amp originally did not over tighten the fasteners! The single front was a breeze (deep 7mm 1/4" drive with ratchet) and I was on my way. I then tackled the toughest. The upper bolt. I could feel it it with my fingers. I took a deep 7mm and wrapped the ratchet end with non-slip carpet material (one layer only) and taped it tight on the socket with a small piece of packing tape. I was able to loosen and eventually remove the tough one by hand. The tough lower one I used a 7mm combination wrench and it took forever due to tight quarters. In the video you see a 1/4" air wrench and this is the way to go go for the lower bolt. Once detached you'll learn that Buick did not leave much room to disconnect the wiring connector, but it can be done. The amp wiring connectors/plugs have releases similar to the ECM. You will not be able to see them, just feel them. Once I reconnected the wire plugs on the new amp. I installed/reconnected the ECM, air bag and lastly the battery negative cable. What a relief to find my navigation will talk to me, radio works, backup sound signalling and even the turn signals worked.
    I have heard others say they did not reinstall all 3 amplifier bolts. They positioned the new amp securely in the holder and only secured it with the easy front fastener or the front and lower fasteners.
    Now, where did I purchase the new amp? Mine is GM part number 25994309 and it is available on Amazon for $232.68 and shipping is free if you are a Prime member. Although I almost never buy an extended warranty, for this I did. It was around $12 from Square Trade. There are repairers on Ebay and you can ship your failed amp to them for repair. Last I checked, the cost was about $170 with a good warranty. This repair requires patience because it took me almost 4 hrs and I have scratches on my left from it! Just be careful and be aware of what you are doing. I hope this was helpful!

    Just finished replacing mine in a 2011 Acadia. The instructions made this task possible. The only thing I did different was when I was taking out the top screw I lay down across the front seat with my feet on the passengers side. This made it easier to reach my arm up under he dash. Thanks for the info. My radio and speakers are working again.

    I got a 2007 Saturn outlook though. Today I had a evap leak figured it was the gas cap. Didn’t have a scan tool to delete the code so went ahead loosen up the battery terminal and connected it back now the radio won’t work today.

    Hi I need help with my car. It is also gmc acadia 2008. When I lock the car from the inside using the button on the driver side, it sometimes only closes the driver side door rather than closing all of the doors for the car, and it sometimes does not unlock the door either. The passenger side lock buttons work to open and lock and unlocked all of the doors, and the remote car key buttons work to open it as well. However, my driver side is the issue and doesn't manually work well. How can I fix it? thanks

    I have a 2011 gmc Acadia and yesterday when I opened the door heard like a pop come from speakers. No keys in ignition or anything. When cranked car it was a really loud static sound. If turn volume all the way down it eventually stops but if you turn volume up any at all its just loud static. Also what's crazy is when use turn signals it does the loud static again.

      @sharpcarco  Před 4 lety +1

      Hi Aaron very sorry to hear about that. Yes it’s definitely your amplifier from the sounds of it. The reason it makes that noise when you turn your blinkers on is because the chime noise for your blinker Passes through your speakers.
      So unfortunately like I said I believe it’s your amplifier I wish I had better news for you they are a son of a gun to change.

      really sorry bro. You own an Acadia you might want to consider doing that !because the radio not working is going to be the least of your problems . In all seriousness I wished I had some good advice for you . But in that situation I would feel like you probably do need the amplifier but would not be for sure. but in that situation I would feel like you probably do need the amplifier but would not be for sure

      When there's no sound to the chime, turn signals and stereo. Most likely is the amplifier. The Acadias and similar GM SUVs have sunroof leaking issues and with time it damages the amplifier.

    • @sharpcarco
      @sharpcarco  Před rokem +1

      That means the amplifier is blown. I’m imagining your blinkers don’t make any noise either because that’s controlled by the amplifier
