    Super pumped I came across this video!! Who would have thought to look at the connection in the front passenger door to find water. Drained then dried out and my audio is once again functional!! Thanks a ton!

    Today my 2008 Acadia only had sound from the radio coming from the tweeters in the A pillar. I shook the water out of the wiring connectors as you show in the video and then used a hairdryer to dry them out. There was quite a bit of water in the wire harness. I don't even have a moon roof. After reconnecting the wire harness, the radio functions properly again. I'm glad I found your video.

    Replaced my blown amp today (from the infamous leaking sunroof) in our 2008 Enclave, that third screw was impossible to reach for anyone with man-sized hands. I couldn't even get my hand/arm to go far enough to touch it, called out my wife and she snaked her hand/arm up in there and got it out... zip-tied the new amp back in place, was no way that screw was going back in. I think the GM engineers are still laughing about this marvel of engineering.

    thank you first video that worked had same problem off and on. sound just goes out new it was a short. happened again today. so pissed. watched your video found water in one rear driver. shook the water out. it worked right away. will dry it more when i have time. but less than 10 min for a fix and i know where the problem is. thank you thank you thank you!!!!!

  • @nelsonocasio2462
    @nelsonocasio2462 Před 7 lety +1

    I had the same problem on my 2011 GMC Acadia, which only the front speakers were working. Both rear connections had water so I used a can of air duster and now the second and third row work perfectly. Just shaking the water out doesn't completely dry it. I did receive a recall in the mail for the rear lift gate so I will tell them about this water problem.

  • @BryantHelms
    @BryantHelms Před 8 lety +9

    I have been having intermittent problems with the sound from my door speakers. Tweeters always work. The sound would return in the afternoon of a high temp and dry day. I took this Acadia to a dealer and they told me the speakers were bad. They had the Acadia for 4 days and it never worked for them. Also the temp never got about 95. Yesterday the temp got above 100 and the speakers started working. I drove the Acadia by the dealer to let them hear that the speakers actually worked. While there I told them about the issue described in this video and showed them the evidence. They were 1, stunned that the speakers were working and 2, that there was water coming out of the tube. So thanks for putting this video out there. Maybe I can get this fixed.

      I have the exact same problem on my 2009 Saturn Outlook now (which is their version of the GMC Acadia). Is there a similar recall on that as well? I had water in 3 of the 4 door wiring boots. I drained them and left them disconnected and all 4 doors wide open on a sunny day however nothing has started working again.

    Oh boy oh boy!!! Thank you so much for this information. this is EXACTLY what was wrong, i got almost 1/4 to 1/2 a cup of water out between the four connections. GMC twice said they couldn't fix this and the first time they said they 'turned the volume up' and the stereo worked for a couple of days - then the extended warranty ran out.
    Thank you again for this video. Now I have to wrap some electrical tape around those connections to try and prevent water getting back in there! Just in time for a long 1000 road trip too!!!!

    Thank you very much for this video. I have been trying to solve this problem for months now. I watched this and tried it out on my 2007 saturn outlook. Low and behold, Niagara Falls . I noticed corrosion in the front doors and a lot of water in the back. I hope to get everything dried out tomorrow and put in my new stereo. If I can get the speakers working I can send the new ones back. Will let you know how it works out.

      Friend has a 2008 outlook and saturn looked at their VIN number and said they did not have a factory AMP installed under the dash like some others. (amp must be built in stereo itself. So now we wonder what parts need replaced to get the speakers to work all the time again. And also how to stop water from collecting in the door harnesses. Any thoughts?

  • @MajorC44
    @MajorC44 Před 9 lety +5

    Thanks for the tip, but just don't drain the water, use compressed air to blow all the water out. If you have sound coming from the headset jack in the rear seat and no fuses are blow, then there may still be some water shorting the amp out. The amp may not com back on right away because most have short protection to prevent severe damage. Wait a day before seriously thinking about replacing the amp. Mine cam back on after a few hours of being dried out.

    • @Jungleboy6
      @Jungleboy6 Před 9 lety +1

      So is it safe to say that if I can hear radio from the headset jack in the rear seat, that the amp is not blown?

    • @MajorC44
      @MajorC44 Před 9 lety +1

      I'd say yes. I couldn't believe the amount of water that came out. I ended up putting slit in the rubber at the lowest point to try and prevent water collect. If you can let them hang free for the night, then re attach.

  • @jrinbody1
    @jrinbody1 Před 6 měsíci

    Would that be the same as just the tweeters working in the front of the GMC and the large speakers not working

  • @beyerch
    @beyerch Před 7 lety +6

    Another suggestion is to put a small hole on the bottom side of that rubber at the lowest point to allow water to drain out. You shouldn't have to do this if the car was built properly, but ......

  • @beyerch
    @beyerch Před 7 lety +5

    FYI - You need to check for Amplifier DTCs and CLEAR THEM; otherwise,
    the radio will not work even if the AMP is OK. In the scantool you will
    see one or more Amplifier related DTCs that were set in the past but
    now pass. Even though they PASS currently, the radio will not work
    until the DTCs are cleared. A can see some unsuspecting/inexperienced
    techs missing this and claiming you need a new amplifier / radio.

    If you have a stereo and A/C setup package in the back and the buttons turned on you won't hear music out the speakers. My kids were in the backseat and they happened to turn it on an after my stereo up front wouldn't work. Turned there's off and it worked again. Gonna check if there's any water in my Acadia today.

  • @topdog19945

    I tried this and seemed to have helped but I think the amp still needs to be replaced. After I shook and air blasted the water out with about 75psi of compressed air, I took it for a drive to see if the bumps on the roads could knock something in or out of place. Sadly, it didn't work but when I turned off the engine, I noticed there was the sound of a cooling fan that was running that would only turn on or off when I pressed the power button on the radio. It worked yesterday morning (before I shook the water out of the plugs) for about 15 minutes but then stopped. The same thing happened this morning and it only seems to work in cool temperatures. The radio started having problems over the summer and it would sometimes work as the temperatures got lower and lower with the seasons. I don't know about anyone else, but it seems like that something is preventing it from getting sufficient cooling or it's causing a short somewhere in the car that would eventually cause it to overheat or it could possibly be malfunctioning and thinking that it's overheating. I will try to gain access to the amp later today to see if I can find something wrong.

    Water comes through a shitty rubber gasket that suppose to prevent it from coming. When it rains, water drips on those wires which after accumulation directly goes in the connector. Permanent solution would be to replace those wiring harness or take it out and apply silicone at the base of duct tape.
