Super pumped I came across this video!! Who would have thought to look at the connection in the front passenger door to find water. Drained then dried out and my audio is once again functional!! Thanks a ton!
radio stopped working so I did a small internet search came across this video has absolutely amazed what I saw and cut and believe it so when I popped out the connectors and all that lip and water came out as a bit speechless but my radios working thank you for doing the dirty work
Today my 2008 Acadia only had sound from the radio coming from the tweeters in the A pillar. I shook the water out of the wiring connectors as you show in the video and then used a hairdryer to dry them out. There was quite a bit of water in the wire harness. I don't even have a moon roof. After reconnecting the wire harness, the radio functions properly again. I'm glad I found your video.
Glad to hear you were able to fix it. Terrible design on their gaskets.
Drained water, changed amp and I have sound again thanks for the info this is the only lead I found with a cure to the problem
can you link me to something that will give instruction to replace amp?
Did you do something to prevent water from doing it over again?.. I just bought a Saturn outlook yesterday and same exact problem only tweeters work.
THANK YOU!!! Mine Weren’t wet but the drivers side just needed to get the dust wiped off and BAMB🙌 THANKS AGAIN
Replaced my blown amp today (from the infamous leaking sunroof) in our 2008 Enclave, that third screw was impossible to reach for anyone with man-sized hands. I couldn't even get my hand/arm to go far enough to touch it, called out my wife and she snaked her hand/arm up in there and got it out... zip-tied the new amp back in place, was no way that screw was going back in. I think the GM engineers are still laughing about this marvel of engineering.
thank you first video that worked had same problem off and on. sound just goes out new it was a short. happened again today. so pissed. watched your video found water in one rear driver. shook the water out. it worked right away. will dry it more when i have time. but less than 10 min for a fix and i know where the problem is. thank you thank you thank you!!!!!
I had the same problem on my 2011 GMC Acadia, which only the front speakers were working. Both rear connections had water so I used a can of air duster and now the second and third row work perfectly. Just shaking the water out doesn't completely dry it. I did receive a recall in the mail for the rear lift gate so I will tell them about this water problem.
I have been having intermittent problems with the sound from my door speakers. Tweeters always work. The sound would return in the afternoon of a high temp and dry day. I took this Acadia to a dealer and they told me the speakers were bad. They had the Acadia for 4 days and it never worked for them. Also the temp never got about 95. Yesterday the temp got above 100 and the speakers started working. I drove the Acadia by the dealer to let them hear that the speakers actually worked. While there I told them about the issue described in this video and showed them the evidence. They were 1, stunned that the speakers were working and 2, that there was water coming out of the tube. So thanks for putting this video out there. Maybe I can get this fixed.
+Bryant Helms good, they did have a recall though. these people should know that.
I have the exact same problem on my 2009 Saturn Outlook now (which is their version of the GMC Acadia). Is there a similar recall on that as well? I had water in 3 of the 4 door wiring boots. I drained them and left them disconnected and all 4 doors wide open on a sunny day however nothing has started working again.
+Keith Zastrow it's because the amplifiers burn up I've been through hell with my GMC Aquarium Acadia as the dealer called it
I have the Same problem with my 2007 Saturn Outlook XR.
I have the same problem with my saturn outlook xe
Oh boy oh boy!!! Thank you so much for this information. this is EXACTLY what was wrong, i got almost 1/4 to 1/2 a cup of water out between the four connections. GMC twice said they couldn't fix this and the first time they said they 'turned the volume up' and the stereo worked for a couple of days - then the extended warranty ran out.
Thank you again for this video. Now I have to wrap some electrical tape around those connections to try and prevent water getting back in there! Just in time for a long 1000 road trip too!!!!
I might would try silicoin.
mad crazy!! great video. thanks. for uploading!!
Thanks for the video. No water in the connectors but blew out with canned air and all speakers work now
C.A. Cook I just bought mine in October this year and have had this problem since driving it off the lot. Among other issues, do you think the problem would persist every time it rains? I have 5 kids to entertain and I can’t be fondling the door and wires every two days. Lol
Yes, it would.
Try to put some sore of sealer around the connectors after drying it.great solution. Saturn outlook 2007
Thank you very much for this video. I have been trying to solve this problem for months now. I watched this and tried it out on my 2007 saturn outlook. Low and behold, Niagara Falls . I noticed corrosion in the front doors and a lot of water in the back. I hope to get everything dried out tomorrow and put in my new stereo. If I can get the speakers working I can send the new ones back. Will let you know how it works out.
Thanks again,
From comments ive seen, the amplifier is the thing that gets fried from the water not the radio. Hope this helps.
Friend has a 2008 outlook and saturn looked at their VIN number and said they did not have a factory AMP installed under the dash like some others. (amp must be built in stereo itself. So now we wonder what parts need replaced to get the speakers to work all the time again. And also how to stop water from collecting in the door harnesses. Any thoughts?
My 2009 Buick Enclave has different electrical connectors in the door. Can't figure out how to disconnect them.
Thanks for the tip, but just don't drain the water, use compressed air to blow all the water out. If you have sound coming from the headset jack in the rear seat and no fuses are blow, then there may still be some water shorting the amp out. The amp may not com back on right away because most have short protection to prevent severe damage. Wait a day before seriously thinking about replacing the amp. Mine cam back on after a few hours of being dried out.
So is it safe to say that if I can hear radio from the headset jack in the rear seat, that the amp is not blown?
I'd say yes. I couldn't believe the amount of water that came out. I ended up putting slit in the rubber at the lowest point to try and prevent water collect. If you can let them hang free for the night, then re attach.
Would that be the same as just the tweeters working in the front of the GMC and the large speakers not working
Another suggestion is to put a small hole on the bottom side of that rubber at the lowest point to allow water to drain out. You shouldn't have to do this if the car was built properly, but ......
FYI - You need to check for Amplifier DTCs and CLEAR THEM; otherwise,
the radio will not work even if the AMP is OK. In the scantool you will
see one or more Amplifier related DTCs that were set in the past but
now pass. Even though they PASS currently, the radio will not work
until the DTCs are cleared. A can see some unsuspecting/inexperienced
techs missing this and claiming you need a new amplifier / radio.
beyerch thank you for this.... Will go borrow a code reader.
If you have a stereo and A/C setup package in the back and the buttons turned on you won't hear music out the speakers. My kids were in the backseat and they happened to turn it on an after my stereo up front wouldn't work. Turned there's off and it worked again. Gonna check if there's any water in my Acadia today.
I couldnt hear from my radio and the kids were playing with the buttons on the back controller and it started working. Course now there is water in all the connectors and I have no sound at all. Wish I had googled it sooner!
Do you fix radio my have same problem
Both tweeters work and only the driver side speaker is working might have to replace the rest
I need help I have an 2007 Acadia it doesn't rain here I'm in Vegas so I know it's not water so what else can I do ??
Ive had the display go blank on me many times, but now I'm getting the occasional no sound - and no display! Professional Grade? NOT.
Great answers, I have an traverse 2012, I found water in right back door connector. It worked after properly dried. Any suggestions in how to improve sealing and avoid water in the future.
Renan Luque maybe seal the connector with some silicon or liquid electrical tape.
Hey man i have Buick enclave i think it has water in speakers doors radio works no sound
I tried this and there was no water but my sound is not working it worked this morning then I went to the store and came back and it didn't work anymore
My 09 traverse radio was working in & out, now it's not working at all! Guess I'll try this before I spend almost $1000 for a whole new system at Best Buy
Great vid helped a lot
I got a 2008 acadia & my tech guy saying it need a new amp!!
I just checked them door thingys & nothing
Plz help bc this will cost me between $300-$500 & i dont have that type of money
Have you taken it to the dealer to see what they say. I have the same problem.
??
I tried this and seemed to have helped but I think the amp still needs to be replaced. After I shook and air blasted the water out with about 75psi of compressed air, I took it for a drive to see if the bumps on the roads could knock something in or out of place. Sadly, it didn't work but when I turned off the engine, I noticed there was the sound of a cooling fan that was running that would only turn on or off when I pressed the power button on the radio. It worked yesterday morning (before I shook the water out of the plugs) for about 15 minutes but then stopped. The same thing happened this morning and it only seems to work in cool temperatures. The radio started having problems over the summer and it would sometimes work as the temperatures got lower and lower with the seasons. I don't know about anyone else, but it seems like that something is preventing it from getting sufficient cooling or it's causing a short somewhere in the car that would eventually cause it to overheat or it could possibly be malfunctioning and thinking that it's overheating. I will try to gain access to the amp later today to see if I can find something wrong.
any luck?
Hey, I know it has been a while since you first published this video but did you ever find a resolution to your loss of sound? Were you able to dry the electrical connections enough that the sound returned? Or was there a deeper issue? Thanks!!
dude i am still searching too I have water on my floor board as well
Hey I know it been a while since you made this comment but I’m having the same problem did you ever find a solution
@@rodneycampbell6647 we ultimately had to just replace the amplifier and that did it. Hope that helps.
Mine has so much water in then I was surprised the doors actually had power
Have you ever had problems with the turn signal? Not turning on ? Or hazard lights
Omar Rangel the signal sound is fake ld through the radio. Radio stops working so does the click click
Holy shit that’s the first time I ever seen that in my time as a technician
Only had volume on front pillar tweeters on my 08 Saturn outlook. Watched this video and had same problem with water in connectors. "Drained" and cleaned connectors, still no sound. Now moving on to look for blown amp fuse. Anybody gone down this path before?
I am having this problem. But my fiancee was sitting in passenger seat, and was resetting my clock. and for some reason while she was sitting in the car in started working. thinking that drivers side airbag circuit may be linked to problem???
You most likely got bad speakers I’ve replaced many of gm 07 up cars and trucks with tweeters still player your out out is good still
Ground Pounders Place
Did you ever get it working again> I have the same issue.
Nope
I love the way u say giggles
So will the dealer cover the fix or is the cost on the buyer to fix??
If you can find the recall on your car online, id say dealer
You will have to pay for it and that's why I'll never buy another GMC aquarium as the dealer called it and the price you're thinking in your head to get it fixed at the dealer times that number by four
Ringhaver Ring power Cat look online for the recall. That should pay for it not you
I have a 2012 GMC Acadia and I was wondering how can i make my phone (Note 5 if possible) play music using USB cord??
Kevin Ramirez the USB is only to charge your phone not to play songs with it.
Not true, mine play my son iphone from there but not my android.
hi. what is the website to find the recalls? thanks.
www.nhtsa.gov/recalls#vin They usually mail you a notice, if you are the original owner but if not enter your vin number on this link and you will see any recall on your vehicle.
I just had this problem I did the sane thing and it started working
Gregory Briggs
My problem just happened this morning after you drained the water out. How long before it started working again
So where do u blow the air dust ?? Into
Ann Stephens into connectors to dry them out
My left door speaker is not working
Did the exact same thing but didn’t work
please Help My GMC 07 Yukon Radio Not Turn on.Any idea Why or What cause Tha,Really I be happy with any Input Thank you
Sometimes the power hook up to the radio can fall out. Is the screen not turning on?
+Baticon having the same problem and the radio doesn't come on at all
Jahlanii Lewinson make sure the fuse that controls the radio is still good, if that's good then check the power cable on the back of the radio as well as the ground wire or wires. (Sometimes has 2) no idea why.
Will do man thanks
I just pull out the fuse, then putting back and radio work again
I'll have to try this out later. The sound in my mom's 08 Acadia keeps going in and out at times and usually works in certain temperatures. Hope it's not the amp because that's a bitch to get out yourself so you pretty much have to take it to a shop to get it out and spend almost two or three times as much
Just did some research and found out it is probably the amp. Search the comments on Amazon - ACDelco 25796753 GM Original Equipment Radio Speaker Amplifier. The comments are EXACTLY whats going on here and in my 2007 Acadia right now! Thanks for the video, it was good to get that water out!
Thats really good to know. Thanks.
Fkn amp is 300$ ffs...
Ugh. Same issue. Fixed one side of speakers but not the other. Hate this car.
Water is from leak at base of windshield. Take wipers off and cowling. Chk CZcams vid that shows the water shorts out the amp
can you post a link please?
Link or where to look?
Mine says headphones are connected, so I don’t get sound from rear speakers.
Nevermind. Found the power button on the back of the arm rest for the rear aux 🤣
WTF?? How is this helpful? I watched this guy remove some stuff shake water out of them and then-END OF VIDEO?
mine are all dry but still not working
maybe i shud clean all the dust??
Water comes through a shitty rubber gasket that suppose to prevent it from coming. When it rains, water drips on those wires which after accumulation directly goes in the connector. Permanent solution would be to replace those wiring harness or take it out and apply silicone at the base of duct tape.
I mean honestly though your vehicle can sit still and it’s raining I don’t know if it’s in the door seals or what
Vídeo se llama como sacar el agua Delos conectores jaaaa
exactly same problem on my Acadia. Irritates the sh&t out of me. I have one speaker left that works. No way in hell will i replace the radio to have the same thing happen.
If you take it to audio shop I would say they would put seal around the connectors but I’m pretty sure it is a rubber trim around the doors that is the culprit that lets the water in

Anything GM
Dude! Appreciate the video, but why waste time doing one and trying the radio, instead of checking all at once? Waste of time.
GM speakers of this era are garbage. They come and go. When only the tweeters work you know it's time for speaker replacement.
Izuhara Torozu didnyou watch the part where the water was coming out of the connectors? The amp was fried
