Filling WATER in our CARGO TRAILER || The cold was TOO much

  • It is a travel day for us here in the mountains outside of Durango Colorado. There is frost and ice everywhere in the mornings and our batteries are not loving the lack of sun while we run our mini split for heat.
Personally, we love the cold and change in temperatures. We have technical clothing which keeps us warm, but we are consistently at below 40 °F INSIDE the trailer in the morning with 80% humidity. For the sake of not freezing any of our water lines and not tempting a mold issue, it is time to head for a warmer/dryer climate.
But first, we need to fill up our 100-gallon water tank…because we suspect it’s a bit harder to find water in the desert…
How many people drag their home through a CREEK just to find water? I would bet not too many. Fortunately for us, we have 19 inches of ground clearance on the trailer, which let us go through water that most even hesitate to do with their SUVs.
Filling the water tank took MUCH longer than we anticipated. This was the first time we did it this method and we’ll have to make a few changes in the future to make travel days quicker. Thus, our single day travel turned into a 2-day trip with an overnight down in New Mexico before heading North again to Southern Utah.
    Thanks for tagging along!
    Cheers!
    -Daniel & LZ

Good idea on the free water.

And it’s good QUALITY water. We measure the quality everywhere we go, and we are finding that almost all city water is pretty poor quality. Certain places in Colorado and South Carolina have had the best city water quality so far.

Love southern Utah, love your Cargo Craft trailer.I recognize it from CO Trailers Inc. Oh, but, dizzy, dizzy, dizzy! I hung in to the end, though. Love the trailer, enjoy Southern Utah.

Thanks for the feedback and glad you made it all the way through! It's all a learning experience for us (both life on the road and filming) and I'm taking steps to film differently. Cheers!

Very nice Cargo Craft Trailer they make great trailers

Yeah the build quality is 💯. My only complaint so far is they don't use rubber grommets when running electrical wire through metal holes. I forsee that becoming an issue after X-miles on the road.

@@TinyHouseVentures I agree with you that's a safety issue that needs to be corrected anyway safe travels in that nice trailer looking forward to your next video

@@thunder19301 Yeah, if you've seen any of Lex and Riot's videos she also had a Colorado Trailer that she lived out of for several years and at one point she had some lights go out on her. Whether that was a moisture issue (because she didn't use much of a dehumidifier if I remember correctly) or a short caused by years of dirt roads with no grommets. If I had had the time, I would have taken all the interior walls off and corrected it. But 🤞

That's awesome 👍 Any reason for the 6ft in height and not 7ft? Only ask because having the higher ceiling makes it possible to do a subfloor if you're building it out. We didn't do one, but I wish we had. Time just didn't make it possible.

@@TinyHouseVentures well the factory will build it to any height you like I may just go with 7 ft a little more height won't hurt im only getting a 6x10

Ahhh, that does look amazing! Wish I'd know about that beforehand as we drove through Farmington NM on our way back up to Valley of the Gods UT. So, bit out of the way from where we are now, BUT we will be heading back that way in the future and I've put it on the list. Thanks for the suggestion!

What's the R value on your unit?

    • @TinyHouseVentures
      @TinyHouseVentures  Před měsícem

Honestly, I have no idea. It’s not like an RV where they advertise R values. The walls and ceiling have 1 inch insulation. I haven’t done floor insulation.

if you are going to try to make travel videos.... introduce yourselves, show the vehicle you are traveling in, tell right away where you are and where you plan to go on this video, and show yourselves doing things, not just explaining to the camera that you did things.

Hi Glen, we have a tour video...it was the first video we posted, you can check it out on our channel. Feedback is always appreciated. For now I'm just having fun making videos and sharing them. If I feel like telling the world exactly where we are located for 2 weeks then I will. Cheers ✌🏻
