We Keralites (India) got a dumpling exactly like this we call it "vettu cake" (cut cake). Our traditional dumpling is "Unni appam"( small dumpling) and "gundu" (big dumpling). In African shops this dumpling is usually sold as a big one just one is enough for a full stomach. Nice to see it's making I always wondered how it's made. We usually throw away over ripen bananas ,banana shops give these over ripen bananas to goats and cows here. It can be used to make a nice dumpling .Very smart nothing goes waste. Very nice people.❤️❤️❤️❤️ from Kerala,India.
I volunteer at a food pantry, and I did not want to tell them how hungry I was because I am there to help others. But after we were done I was unexpectedly gifted with some fresh corn, potatoes carrots some lovely green beans and some other things as well! I felt so blessed and very happy; When I got home, underneath the vegetables, that I knew how to prepare were some Plantains! Never cooked them before, so I looked you up because You did an awesome pork roast on the stove video, which I not only loved, but when I tried to make it following your video, It came out wonderful. So thank you for the pork video and now this video, you are teaching me well and I am very grateful to have found you. These Plantains are not very ripe yet, so I will save them until they are, but Thank you again! May our Lord bless your richly!
Of course jamaican got it from you guys.Remember Africa is the mother land and when they brought our anchesters to jamaica, they brought with them their custom. Therefore we jamaicans kept most of those customs. It's a good thing. We love it.

Nigerians, mix overripe plantain with flour and fry it. I forgot what they called it but it is common amongst them.
Sumerjules you,
Ghana too we add spices and ginger it’s a sweet spicy called kaaklo
We call it fritters in Trinidad@Tobago.

In Jamaica, fritters are mostly made with banana, saltfish etc. Our fritters look different from the fried dumplings in the videos.
