Isnt 500 watts roughly .67 hp? Wouldnt that be more than 1/2hp
Yeah you are correct. Thanks for pointing that out!
Glad you did this video! So many people buy that high dollar grinder and don't really need it. Some of the hand grinders are good enough but it great that this one is everything you need it to be. Nice video, good luck this year.
Thanks for the comment. I actually processed an elk with this same grinder about a month ago and it handled the job perfectly. Good luck to you as well!
"Just gonna shim this up"... I like your style!
Thanks!
Did you just run the meat through the course grind and then the fine grind? I see a lot of people using a mixer. If you didn’t use a mixer how was the summer sausage texture? I bought this over the summer and haven’t used it yet. Was thinking about giving it a test run before deer season.
Check out our video on making summer sausage and slim Jim’s. It goes through the process. They turned out awesome. I can’t remember off the top of my head exactly but I think I went course grind then fine grind. czcams.com/video/9_vROZ1zPzw/video.htmlsi=4N6__DAzksW3DlI4
It seems really loud. Another benefit to a more expensive grinder is that they are much quieter. What is your opinion on the noise level of this grinder?
It’s definitely pretty loud but it’s comparable to others that I’ve been around. I like to put on some headphones normally to drown it out
How do you like it so far? Maybe it's better to upgrade for that 0.5hp grinder?
I love this thing. I think it has plenty enough power to get the job done. I’ve processed two deer with it this season and had no issues! The 0.5hp can grind 5.5lbs per minute while this one I reviewed can do 4 lbs per minute. If you are someone who is going to be doing around 20 lbs per day then i'd say stick with the 500 W. If going 40 lbs or higher, maybe go with the 0.5hp!
@@Recruitcreative ohh no, I'm just thinking for 20lb a month maybe haha. I have hand manual grinder, but it takes foreeever.. normally I make 6-7lb batches of sausages or burgers, thats all. I guess this one is going to be plenty. Thanks for reply! 👌
@@marksabota4056 Its also $120 for the 500w vs $400 for the .5hp and only does 1lb per minute more. Not really worth it.
U can get the 1 hp,#22 for $350,on sale dont get screwed like I did.@@coltonweber4905
Using a grinder to also stuff, is a lot like mowing your lawn with a hammer. Sure, sooner or later the job will get done, but nowhere near worth the effort especially when you compare the finished product when using a piston stuffer vs a grinder/stuffer.
Did it come with the stuffing tubes or did you have to purchase separately?
It comes with a couple of different sizes.
Stuffing with the grinder is SLOW and lowers the quality of the product. The heat generated smears the fat.
@@carfvallrightsreservedwith6649 yeah but I don’t wanna spend 200 dollars on a sausage stuffer to use maybe 2-3 times a year
The price of this meat grinder has gone up 40% since the making of this video. At that price you get more for less in another brand so I am looking elsewhere but I still like it.
How is it holding up?
Very well, no issues so far.
What I don't understand; isn't 500 watts more than ½ horsepower?
500W is approx 0.67 (mechanical) horse power.
Do not look only the Watts as one 300W German "fleischwof" (42lb) beats 1000W super market grinder.
Pay attention also to the weight as I have noticed that the heavier grinder is the more effective - just my 5 cent.
I have this same question
INFO about MEAT .I bought a 1 HP grinder for $575w/foot pedal. Shipped promply.7 days later the same grinder went on sale for$350.I ordered other items that I never recieved too.Customer service is always busy,an replytime is alwaysLO N G if at all.Its a great grinder,BUT BUY IT WHEN ITS ON SALE DONT get PORKED LIKE I DID!
Thanks for sharing!
Im glad this saved you spending tomuch $s.Pass this on to all you know. But it is a good grinder, just bad company police.@@Recruitcreative
Stuffing with the grinder SUCKS and lowers product quality. Catch a 5# vertical stuffer on sale for $100.
Its called a grinder for a reason. Stuffing with it more than doubles the motor run time (stuffing is slower) which means you're going to wear it out 2x faster and only get half as much grinding time out of it.
Keep knife/plates sharp, grind chilled meat, and cut meat smaller than throat opening and you won't have to use the plunger.
I went through 2 of this sized grinder before getting a #22 1hp model off ebay ($279).
I tell you what's going on im not listening if there are no price tags for English speaking world and the Thai Baht so close down.
