I don't use the gel pack that came with my grinder, as I don't feel that it's needed. I have ground as much as 60 pounds of cold meat and never had a problem with it getting warm. I think the secret to it is to not over tighten the nut, and to grind only cold meat. Meat should be ground cold anyway. I like to put the meat in the freezer beforehand and let it get a few ice crystals. Nice grinder BTW. I have the 1hp Carnivore and love it!

Do you think this grinder would be able to handle wild boar? I’m having a difficult time finding a grinder to handle the tough meat. My current grinder’s cutting plate gets caught up after ~30 seconds of use. What is your professional opinion of this grinder and wild boar? Note: the wild boar meat has a lot of gristle and is nearly impossible to cut all of it off before grinding.
i dont think you would have a problem with this grinder taking care of it! Or if anything upgrade to the 1HP, it comes with reverse, which could help if you having those problems. I can tell you i left a lot of gristle on that deer, just to put the grinder to the test, and it didnt even blink an eye! Chewed up the meat as fast i could feed it!
one thing you can so if mate the face of the grinding plate to the face of the blade with very fine sand paper. its also called " truing" When you do this it makes the blade and the plate so close it will cut all the white grizzle and tendon that usually clogs the plate

its well worth the money! it will chew up the meat faster than you can feed it!

I received my 3/4 grinder just a few days ago it's worth every penny it grinded up 30 pounds of venison in time

anything above a half horse should be able to get it done. I haven't had any issue with wild boar in my 3/4 horse.

yes! the sausage stuffing tubes that comes with it work great for brats, breakfast links and anything along those lines!
