And that's how these creatures live their lives. They create a narrative and live in an unmovable fantasy that suits their emotional needs. Those that challenge this paradigm will be met with delusion, gaslighting, deflection, salad talking, emotional reasoning and any other of a number of defense mechanisms and cognitive distortions. A great portion of these creatures will then rage or gaslight you with abuse as they seek to get away from confronting any semblance of reality or objectivity. They are a lost cause but also they can be very dangerous particularly collectively.

It is an art to get these people to realize what they are doing there. You have to take them along, tempt them to talk, want you to understand, so much that they go outside of the bubble of ready-made recitals and THINK about how to express it themselves, in other words.
And once you got them out of their holy, untouchable words, you can question them about those. And make them see the issues THERE. And then lead them back carefully "But what you said yourself and what you said is problematic is what you said is the meaning of your holy text. Does the problem apply to that as well?"
They have to (re)learn how to think on their own, about WHAT they think and WHY. And one has to plant the seed of curiosity, that it is INTERESTING to find stuff out, find it out on your own, go where YOU want to, and not where someone else determined where you want to go.

The Medes and the Persians are two separate empires. They are conflated in Christian theology ( and only in Christian theology) in order for the prophecy to make sense. Originally this prophecy pointed to the Greeks, but after the Greeks were replaced by the Romans as the dominant force in the region, the prophecy would have been wrong unless they reinterpreted it as the Medes and the Persians being the same empire.

Talk about the past isn't prophecy. The stuff about Nebuchadnezzar was written after he lived, not before. As for telling Nebuchadnezzar about the countries that would come, it doesn't name any of them, it makes vague statements about iron and clay toes that people attached to countries after the fact. Saying something vague and super-metaphorical and then assigning it a specific interpretation after a specific thing happened isn't prophecy either, not in any honest or meaningful way.

I'm amazed at the number of callers who outright refuse to answer simple questions. They're either trying to avoid a trap they think is there, or refusing to answer, or don't see the point so ignore it.. If Fred wants to convince Jerry of something, then Fred needs to adapt his message to meet Jerry in Jerry's own headspace. If Jerry has answers, Fred must answer them. Avoiding them for any reason weakens the argument. If Fred doesn't feel comfortable answering the question, he can say that but should still address it directly anyway.
If asked a simple binary yes/no question, answer yes or no THEN add qualifiers and clarifications. But answer the question first.

I know that conversations like this are very hard not to sidetrack, but I believe going through his supposed "best arguments" like the "predictions" in Daniel would have been more fruitful. I mean, not only are parts in them vague and will fit with anything, and there's also the almost consensus by scholars that it was written after the fact that most of these prophecies predictions had already happened, there are also CLEAR predictions that just DON'T FOLLOW THROUGH there as well, not even if you twist and turn them.

It was even more ridiculous hearing it from this caller, because he mentioned how prophecy ins 'other religions' was 'so vague!' like...dude, so is yours? You've gotta have big cognitive dissonance to not recognize that 'prophecy' in the Christian bible is just as vague and unimpressive as any other religion.

25:00 "...if you grant me that there's a God..."
The entire thesis of the show is that there isn't sufficient evidence to conclude that and to debate the claims.
Twenty five minutes into the call, and the caller still hasn't accepted a basic premise of the whole show. You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make them drink.🤦 Yet another caller that despite the best efforts to meet them where they're at, is apparently mostly just waiting his turn to talk.
