    BMW Power distribution module fuse box / X5 E70 LCI X5 35iX Integrated supply module Z11 dissembling and replacing fuses.
    Opening the plastic box can be made easier by heating the edges and cutting with a knife, it will cut just like butter, I used the heat from my gas stove itself as there were nothing handy with me :p
    Mine is an X5 35i 2011 model with ZV41 engine

    I have issue with my brother F30 crank but no start issue, got fault code 804080 ignition on: startability limit reached or ignition was on for a long time, 8040B7 De-activation of terminal 15: Top startability limit reached, 8040BB. Does this indicate that power distribution module faulty?

      The error code doesn't give me any clue. Which is the engine? What is the History on no start issue, there will be something which triggered the fault.

    Afeef, having similar problems, crank, no start, and am questioning my IVM. Can you elaborate on how you found your short, which I assume was the root problem that was causing your fuse to blow. I like that you worked hard to find the real problem and not just throw a new DME at the problem.

    • @bimmerhacks
      @bimmerhacks  Před 3 lety

      First I got couple of error codes. So I assumed it's a fuse blown somewhere. Checked from the rear fuse box on the battery till the ISM. Used bmw circuit diagram to check out different modules through each fuse. Let me know the error code so that I can give you a clue where to start from. I used bulb method to find out short circuit

      @@bimmerhacks I have a bunch of codes that all pretty much show bad communications to DME. I suspect bad DME or bad ISM. There is a 6 pin connector on that ISM, and pins 5 and 6 don't have voltage on them with ignition on, and I think pin 4 is grounded by the DME to cause relay to close and energize pins 5 and 6, but trying to confirm. One symptom I have is that when that 6 pin plug is plugged into ISM, there is a loud buzzing from glove box where fuses are. When I unplug it, that buzzing goes away...very strange. Thanks for your reponses and insight.

      just heated with conventional gas stove without touching the flame on the plastic like 30cm above the flame and cutting it with a blade/knife ... No need to apply much pressure as it will cut like butter when heated. Don't push it deeper than 5mm as it might touch the circuit board

    • @bimmerhacks
      @bimmerhacks  Před 3 lety

      @Ben Edwards it was so easy that's the reason I did not make video. Its the same as in my x5, below the air filter in the engine bay, passenger side. Remove the plastic cover using 13mm box spanner. There is sensor on the filter compartment, plug type connector(very easy to disconnect). Again 13mm box spanner for the plastic bolts just turn it 30-40 degree, two towards passenger side and one towards the engine bay, all can be seen from top side itself. Lift the filter box. Then there is a duct going to the passenger side wall, to it's right and left there is a plastic hinge type clip locks, just pull it one in right and one in left side. Then to it's right u can see this module with the connectors going in it. There is plastic holder and lock keeping the module in position, just push it and lift module up. Easier than my explanation
