i think jokic over kawhi. 2 mvps, and his playoff run was more impressive than toronto. Also he had no all stars like kawhi did with the spurs.
We'll see what else he can do in the next couple of years...But Jokic definitely deserves to be in the pyramid.
@@sonny4978that’s wild tbh. maybe after another ring and if he stays as consistent as he is, he prob will overtake kawhi, but for now he just doesn’t have as much longevity as kawhi.
Cut the jokes man. Joker getting catapult to the upper echelon of all time great is based off what. One year. The dude took 4 years to make a real impact in his career. He only became all star caliber for the last 5 years.
Let wait for the next 3 to 5 years to unfold before we have this discussion. Not given the soft rules, handcuffing defense, analytics basketball era. Give great assistance to good offensive players today. He not only need to match Wilt, Kareem, Hakeem,Bird resume but blow them out the waters. Considerig the advantages he has
Jokic is top 20 already
Honestly, I didn't realize how high I was on Giannis until you showed me the stats in retrospect. Giannis having this much offensive and defensive pressure and efficiency in this era is insane to think about. Rightfully deserved!

@@user-lt1zz3zi4m Lol.. He's not wrong. Top tier defensive player would've tried to guard Kd especially when he's the only star left on the opponent team. Giannis let Tucker to guard him even on the last possession that would've cost his team a series against an injury-depleted Nets team. Glad that the Lady Luck was upon him that night that Kd happened not to hit a 3 or else it would be a downright embarrassment for Giannis to lose that series.
@@judyclarkson5887 everyone keeps saying that if Kd had kyrie and healthy harden he would beat giannis …. If you switched teams and gave Gianni’s a healthy harden and Kyrie he would’ve won as well. Completely agree. Seriously putting him in tier 3 is crazy. Tier 2 is more correct
I swear his career accolades and accomplishments are nearly identical to Kobe
Eh, I feel like Hakeem and Shaq are better tbh and when you actually look at it him and KG did similar stuff at similar levels on the court for a long time so having them 2 tiers apart is just criminal.
@@samcremin1486 Timmy has 5 rings 😂 Hakeem only won cause Jordan retired for 2 years if we’re being honest . Shaq never won shit without another superstar on his team
@@dro2drippy781Hakeem had worse teammates and Duncan never won in a year he had to deal with a dynasty either, in the 94 and 95 seasons he didn’t have a teammate selected for the all star game.
If we actually break down their games Hakeem is a comparable if not better rim protector, much better perimeter defender, is a better post scorer and a similar passer. Duncan’s only advantage is his pretty significantly better longevity so if you value that highly then he has a decent argument but he’s not a full tier above Hakeem.
Shaq was the better player during the three peat and he undoubtedly peaked higher, in my eyes it just didn’t work out for him in other years but he was probably the best in the world for most of his career.
Mad respect for kawhi being in it. If u look at numbers he has no case. But if u watched kawhi play u would know he was the only guy in the Lebron era that genuinely felt comparable in terms of changing an entire teams hope

Cuz he's very rational
Naw bro. This list was garbage as soon as I didn't see the real G.O.A.T on it.... Austin Reaves

At first I was confused when DWade was demoted, trying desperately to remember any shooting guards better, as I always had Jordan 1, Kobe 2, and Wade 3, then I saw that there were only three shooting guards on the list and it all made sense.
Still though wade shouldn't be demoted, other than longevity which he just said he appreciated peek more, there no reason to have dirk Over wade.

Kawhi had a legacy defining run a year after he made this list. Not much besides a potential break out star really happens each year. -but in 3-4 years maybe a new dynasty was formed after one fell, a new dominant player has come out and started putting up amazing numbers. And will again, check in with Bill russell, check in with Tim duncan, check in with kareem, check in with magic, check in with Larry, and yes the dpoy wasn't even a thing when some of these guys were doing it and certainly Larry Bird wasn't the best defensive player in the league, but having won MULTIPLE championships, MVPs, rookie of the Year, finals MVP etc, by the same age is pretty damn close, just because he's got one other award doesn't mean that he's suddenly lapped the field. You have the balls to call me a casual when you can't remember that guys in your own generation, have done this much less the old guys. Go look up Oscar Robertson. So yeah he doesn't have the finals MVP or the championship because he was on a horrific Cincinnati team, but he was averaging a triple double, destroying record books, winning MVPs etc. You won't find an NBA historian that thinks that Oscar isn't on at least the same plane if not above giannis. Is it? Steph is considered bottom end of the top 10 all time, KD is just outside the top 10, normally between 12th and 15th so there's really not a lot of players between them
True. Simply because KD has shown he's not a winner and a leader. He had to join an already winning franchise to get his chips. 2023 playoffs confirm.
@@amosstarkey485 Ok . . . so KD 12-15 let's revisit that. So in no order the top 11 should be: MJ, LeBron, Kareem, Magic, Kobe, Bill Russell, Tim Duncan, Wilt, Shaq, Larry Bird, and Steph. Ok so number 12 has to be KD right . . . well no cuz I'm not putting KD over Hakeem, ok so 13 right??? wrong again if you actually look at tier 4 there are a couple of guys there most if not all people should have over KD. Dr. J, D-Wade, and Zeke Isiah Thomas was also better than KD. Which by my math means he should be at best 16th best player and I'm not about to let you disrespect the Logo Jerry West like that. Soooooo in reality KD's about the 17th best player of all time (as of us typing about this). Because Giannis isn't done, Luka's career's just starting, and who knows if Jayson Tatum/Jimmy Butler/Nikola Jokic win this year's title maybe they'll have a valid case over KD. Jokic's case in particular would be very interesting 1 title vs KD's 2 expired ring pops, Jokic's 2 MVP's vs KD's 1 MVP. But that's all conjecture so as of right now KD's the 17th best player of all time (at best).
I agree. KD's career could've easily ended the same as Harden's if he didn't join the already best team in the league.
Dude this video is straight up fire. Jimmy's story telling voice is just built different plus the way he thinks through this stuff makes these videos so interesting to watch. Keep doing what your doing man.
The fact that Jokic missed out on the top NBA 75 list and is now about to join a few guys in being a back to back to back MVP is WILD.
At the time when they selected the top 75, Jokic only had one regular season MVP and one appearance in Conference finals. So it was kind of a correct decision.
I expect AD to be ejected from that 75
@@georgiosyiannakou5537 i mean, mvp is kind of a big thing. There werent that many players who got it 🤷🏽♂️
But anyway, still didn't deserve it back then, but now he coming into the better part of those 75 😶
@@batopopadic1071 if it’s like that then D rose would be there or Westbrook, winning fmvp gives you a bigger boost than winning a regular season mvp
@@batopopadic1071 MVP is a joke, more like a popularity contest by writers and commentators, than what it was truly supposed to represent. How else do we explain why MJ had only 6, and Lebron only 4.
Glad to see Larry Bird moved up to tier 2. Bird I think had the greatest basketball IQ of all time
why is everyone forgetting how good prime westbrook was, an honorable mention for him was deserved, check his stats if you disagree. i think iverson was good and well-ranked in tier 5 and also luka, jokic and harden will deserve a place in the next update in my opinion
I once was terrible at basketball and basically has known nothing of the game except the goat is MJ and a few players names. About 3 years ago I started watching Jimmy and I know have so much knowledge of the game and have fallen in love with it. I have also become quite good at playing basketball and have even made my school basketball team! Thank you Jimmy so so much for helping me fall into a game I had no idea about! You're one of my favorite youtubers so keep up the Outstanding Work!!!!
Same here. Exactly the same trajectory.
Same here. Except I thought Lebron was the goat…
And he is 👑 but mj is a good answer too yeah
@@thedargon6899 I thought so too but man imagine if MJ played as many seasons as Bron bro would have the most cracked numbers even better more chips etc. if he was in the modern nba he would get way more DPOY because permittee defense is a lot more valuable in this age of basketball. Even without those years he still has a better resume. I wish it was bron but it never will be 💀
@@TheBabyTortI question a lot of you guys basketball knowledge lol. Like obviously dude. That's like saying "if you stand in cold weather too long, you'll get cold". @@dreamchaser1419 True. Those if's don't count. It's only facts that does.

Thomas Kuhn, in a foundational piece called "The Structure of Scientific Revolutions," makes an argument that cites an evolution of ideas over time is not linear - eras bring about seismic change, relegating older eras to archaic concepts instead of foundational building blocks. He uses an example of baseball - how Babe Ruth wouldn't cut it in the new era of the 60s, the game of baseball had changed so fundamentally. Basketball is the same. Players in the last 20 years are exponentially better than those from 40 years back, exacerbated over time. Ergo, this pyramid of 30 players should have roughly 85% of its pieces from the last era or two. Food for thought.
How do you measure greatness? Especially in a team sport, as it depends on who is on their team and who their competition is. There's also personal and regional favoritism and which era you've watched the most games of. Which stats and which awards are more important than others?
I can’t be the only one just waiting the whole video for this man to add Giannis to the pyramid
Fr I knew he couldn’t leave him off
R.I.P. to Kobe Bryant and Bill Russell, who have both passed away since Jxmy's first G.O.A.T. pyramid video.
John havlicek is really underrated these days he was a beast a perpetual steam roller..never tired with mad skills
Wilt Chamberlain was an athletic freak of nature. When it comes to talent, no one is above him. When it comes to stats, no one put up more video game like numbers than Wilt did. I'll Grant someone that says he played in a weaker smaller era but so did Bill Russell. The fact that he moved Bill Russell up to Tier 2 and left Wilt at 3 just made it to where I couldn't take this pyramid seriously. You must seriously overvalue rings to do that...but even then I think it's laughable. Wilt is no question way more of a greater talent, players, stat stuffer, and legend than Bill Russell was. No disrespect to Bill, he's in the top 100 for sure but to put him above Wilt just shows how silly some of these debates are and how they can't even be taken seriously.
Can’t wait for Luka to get on here. See y’all in 3 years
fatboy won't make tier5...he's james harden 2.0

Luka won’t get on even if he starts averaging 35 simply because this list is so elite with so much hardware to back it up. Luka is great but it’s too premature to try and say he’s an all time great
I think Duncan would have been tier 2 if they hadn't lost to Miami during 2013 or 2014. He would have been 6-0 in the finals
if i put everything into consideration, skillset, accomplishments, stats, sustained excellence, and influence/impact, it would be hard for me to decide who's the #1 GOAT, but if we used conventional ways, i could make a case for duncan being the #1 GOAT
the greatest of all time is whoever is the most valuable in my opinion
some people don't have as much talent or good stats but can influence games in a direction where their team wins
As great as Giannis is, the magnitude of just how good he sometimes is lost because 1. he doesnt have multiple rings and 2. Talent parity among teams is the greatest ive seen in all my life. But when you bring up those accomplishments, it's impossible to forget anymore.
9:15 crazy how this 3.5 year span is a guaranteed Hall of Fame spot for any NBA player.
To be fair olajuwon 1994 season is a guaranteed hof. Champ, FMvp, Mvp, Dpoy, All NBA teams.
Tim Duncan deserves Tier 2... Played in every era & showed he can play in modern era

Nice work, Jxmy. Even though it will be a few years, I am heavily intrigued to see the next edition of this GOAT pyramid. Will Jokic win a ring and make it? How far does Giannis ascend after the next few years? Could a fifth ring for Steph put him in tier 2?
Great video!
I agree can’t wait but honestly a 5th ring for Steph puts him in tier 1
@@JAYJ_17 Nah mate,, tier 2. He'll get to that tier 1 if somehow he manages to win 2 or 3 more rings (which is crazy to even think about considering he'll postpone so many young and upcoming players their maiden title if that really happens in the future).
So glad kawhi got added. his 2019 run with the raptors was one of the most impressive performances I’ve ever seen, aswell as his overall defensive ability throughout his career. A quiet killer
I agree with his addition now, but with his injury history I expect him to be surpassed and drop off in the next pyramid in 5 years.
@@irjake yep, his load management is gonna end up hurting his legacy unfortunately

Just imagining what Kawhi's legacy could've been if he hadn't wasted his talent going to the Clipper is going to be one of the biggest 'what ifs' ever.

Kevin Garnett is the most underrated player in the league in my opinion. So happy to see Dirk and Him moved up to tier 4. Drik's success is granted. KG's not so much. Great to see him getting some shine here.
As a Mavs fan, I agree wholeheartedly. Especially now that Dirk is a tier above D Wade lol.
I actually believe Garnett should be in the same tier as d wade, I would pick wade anytime
Kg belongs in the pyramid, but not higher than IT or Stockton, and possibly Wade. That's muy opinion
KG underachieved, like that one Celtics title with Allen and pierce saved all their careers and is the reason doc is still coaching. How tf can u only win one title with that roster.
Advanced stats and tracking show Garnett as one of the most elite players on both ends of the floor. He was a one man army and had a huge impact in the games he played. Too bad his career was cut short by injuries. I think he should be one tier higher on the pyramid, maybe even two.
Good list except for Tim Duncan not being tier 2. 5 chips and 2 mvps 3 FMVPs and 13 all nba and all defensive appearances is crazy. Especially since you have Kobe in tier 2 when Duncan has more everything except all star game appearances while they both played in the same era.
He also played with three HoF players and a GOAT coach.
this list is beautiful
No way KD is on the same Tier as Tim Duncan, thats insane!
I love the content you put out bro, Bron and MJ fan at heart and I can’t hardly ever dispute your opinion. I just have to point out that Magic and Bird were drafted in the 70s but that portion of eras was wild when you consider the depth of skill in the 80s. Love the channel
