    Okay so here is my point I find very valid, The premier league and La Liga got where they are by throwing buckets of money at the best players so they could gain bigger revenue from TV deals, do well in Europe etc. My team Glasgow Rangers and our rivals Celtic are as big as any team in England, we play in front of full houses every week, we take over away grounds, when we were kicked to the bottom tier of football we were taking 50,000 to Ibrox to watch third tier football and we done that week in week out, We got to the Europa league final vs Zenit and took 200,000 fans to Manchester, Celtic got to the final and took 70,000 fans to Seville, we then get to the final in Europe again we take 100,000 fans to Seville when we lost on pens to Frankfurt and Frankfurt who are from the powerful Bundesliga only took 50k fans.
    So you are all crying about the Saudis paying massive sums to build their leagues but give your head a shake, your bottom clubs can pay 20-30 million a player and Rangers and Celtic are spending big if we fork out 7 million. TV Deals have gave you what you have after initial investment from other sources like Russian oligarchs so do not become all sanctimonious now. Give us 5 years in the Premiership receiving the money your mob are and we will be top ten first season top 6 in second season and we would be fighting for the title in 5 seasons, its funny how you let 2 Welsh teams in cardiff and Swansea join but are terrified of the Old Firm joining ............... yet your all crying about the Saudis

      And by the way the premier league's success came initially due to smart strategic business decisions and strong commercial partnerships. • @gordonsharkey8303
      @gordonsharkey8303 Před 8 měsíci +1

      @@fraser8990 This is exactly what it SHOULD be, it should either be a UK league or National leagues, we should not allow one country to have their 2 best teams play in England because they are small clubs whilst banning another Union nations top 2 clubs because they have massive infrastructure fan bases that all except Man Utd and Liverpool could dream about, loyal fans through thick and thin. The fact the English allowed the Welsh in but were afraid
      to allow the Scotish in citing "Allowing the Old Firm into England would instantly take places away from English teams in the premier league. Even starting these clubs in the Second division we would see them within 5 years in the premiership and within 10 challenging for the title, Can we really call ourselves the English FA if we allow non English teams to be champions of England" ..... Serie A giants, La Liga giants, Premier League giants have done the same disruptive transfer business in the past. What goes around, come around. That said, the timing of the Mo Salah bid was dubious. The club was never going to sell their star player on Deadline Day. Meanwhile, Saudi-owned Newcastle United FC were not disturbed during this period rather they were aided by the generous transfer fee to take Allan Saint-Maximin to Saudi Pro League team Al Ahli

    • @FreshAlchemy
      @FreshAlchemy Před 8 měsíci

      He kept avoiding Simon's question about financial regulation with all that rubbish you mentioned and never answered it. The "giants" you're talking about are all legacy clubs which attract players not just by money alone. Yes, at various times the leagues you mentioned have all had financial might but money was never the sole draw for players to join. The prospect of winning European football's most prestigious trophies at historic clubs who have been doing it for many many many decades now has also always been a key part of what attracts players to big European clubs, not just money. It's as much about the tradition and history which our sport is steeped in, traditions and history which people like you seem to have a problem with and seem oddly bitter about.
      Al-Ittihad and the other Saudi teams however have none of the tradition, history or prestige, literally all they have is money, that's it, there is no other real lure to join them.
      People talk like Europe is the big bad evil, sorry but football has been our beloved sport for a long time, it's not our fault that historically Saudi Arabia, China, India or the United States, etc, etc, have not embraced football in the same way, they could have done, but they did not, and now they are trying to catch up. They have not been oppressed or held back in any sporting sense by Europe, NOT AT ALL. It is simply just not their indigneous sport. It's not some conspiracy.
      Also, your point does not stand up because the only people Europe "disrupted" in a footballing context is itself, European leagues holding sway over other European leagues, not disrupting non-European leagues, so your point about "what goes around comes around" literally makes zero sense in this context. What has gone around in the past has gone around Europe alone, however you seem to be suggesting that European football has developed bad karma somehow with the likes of Saudi Arabia which simply isn't true and frankly, there is no factual basis whatsoever upon which to stake such a strangely prejudiced and ignorant claim or insinuation.

They clearly want to get the best players and fast track the league to premier league status asap and have the cash to do so with none of the regulatory over hang to not do it. If players want to earn big in what is relatively a short career in a league lesser established then let them do it. See this comment quite alot but there's no comparison. The PL has been built up over 130 years, it has numerous massive clubs, massive crowds, world wide interest which brings in a massive income and this is spent accordingly. Where as the Saudi League has tiny crowds, small athletics stadiums with terrible atmosphere, no tradition or football culture. So it's a false business. It reminds of me of a country giving all their athletes anabolic steroids and people defending it citing that it's wrong that the big countries with an athletics tradition win so many olympic gold medals so smaller countries should be given a chance to win, naturally yes but not be taking steroids. Surely financial responsibly is the way forward otherwise it turns into an arms race and the business goes bust, which can only damage the sport.

      All European leagues have developed because of investments and pumping of money. I don't know how the European mentality seems inferior and threatened by the development of the Saudi league instead of considering competition as a positive thing for the game like anything else. Isn’t the free market economy competitive?
      Some people speak racially and disdainously as if the Saudis were the only ones with money, while the European economies are much larger than the Saudi economy, which is growing at an amazing speed, as if the Saudis do not deserve to be revival and have development in various fields.
      While the Saudis are happy to compete and encourage other countries to move forward and the Saudis invest heavily in the renaissance of other peoples, the Western mind feels threatened!
      Doesn't it represent feelings of inferiority and recognition strength of the Saudis in the competition?
      I think information is available online but people especially broadcasters don't care to look it up.
      There are now 6 football teams that are funded in an amazing investment form, but all Saudi football teams are a great opportunity to invest. Saudi and foreign investors are eagerly waiting to privatise Saudi football clubs because they represent an excellent investment due to the overwhelming popularity of football among the Saudis and the peoples of the Middle East and North Africa.
      The Saudis did not come from nowhere, as the arrogant broadcaster mentioned, they qualified for the World Cup 6 times, and 3 Saudi teams played in the World Cup, the last one when Al-Hilal ranked second after Real Madrid, and soon Al-Ittihad to play in the next competition.
      Saudi teams have achieved many Asian championships, and Saudi Arabia has a good infrastructure such as stadiums and gyms, while 4 new stadiums are now being built.

    He's absolutely right. The EPL fans are complaning from a position of privelage and one that ignores the fact its exactly what the Premier League, and other top teams in Europe have beem doing for 30 years. I expected a more contrarian argument from Jordan.

      Exactly. Serie A and other European leagues have clubs steeped in tradition, history and sporting prestige which has always attracted players, not just huge bundles of cash which is all Al-Ittihad and the likes have to offer.

    imagine if all the players that went to Saudi Arabia, went to Chelsea instead?
    Ronaldo,Benzema,Mane, Neimar, ecs. Tod had the money to do it, but he opted for Caicedo, Lavia, Sanches, Desasi, Jackson and what was his name?

    • @FreshAlchemy
      @FreshAlchemy Před 8 měsíci +1

      Nobody wanted Neymar because he's more of a problem than a solution. Mane's legs have gone, he's a shadow of his former self. Ronaldo is at the end of his career and also has a bad attitude. And I don't think Benzema has ever been interested in playing in the Premier League.
      I think you're just looking at all those names and getting giddy but the reality does not match up with the fantasy.
