    There's a lot to like about how you do battle reports... the added visuals and sounds of course, but also that you make it about the game, not yourselves. You don't start off the vids shouting at the camera like coked up dudebros... and it never feels like you're just shills for product.
    Excellent stuff that I enjoy watching. Thanks for making it!

    In close combat, you test for morale as soon as you lose wound-wise, not just if you're below 50%. However, if you fail morale in CC AND you're below 50%, you rout.

      Hi Andreas. You make a very valid point. However, I've found that in the give and take world of tabletop gaming (and relationships) sometimes it's best to acquiesce to the other party's interpretation of the rules. For the greater good, as the TAO would say.

    I'm pretty sure there was a mistake with the Blast rules. They've been recently changed so that if the extra hits you get are capped at the amount of troops you're actually fighting. So the 18 hits on the Grunts should have been 10

    • @TheSpoonisme
      @TheSpoonisme Před 2 lety +9

      I know this is a late reply, but each individual Blast hit is capped, not the total hits. So long as there are at least 3 Grunts, each Hammer hit gives 3 hits, leading to a total of 18.

    About 2:30, I think you misstated the cover rule. It's not true that if one model in the unit is out of cover, you can shoot at it and hit the whole unit with no cover penalty. The rule for Cover Terrain on page 13 of the rulebook says, "If the majority of models in a unit are in or behind a piece of cover terrain, enemy units shooting at it get -1 to their hit rolls." So in a 10-model squad, if at least 5 of them are behind a wall, the whole squad counts as being in cover. It favors the defender, not the attacker. (For large models like tanks, the way I've usually seen it played is that you see if half the *model* is obscured, so a low wall won't give cover to a tank but a building would.)

    • @demonstructie
      @demonstructie Před rokem +1

      5 models out of a 10 man squad isn't the majority though, rules as written 6 out of 10 must be in or behind cover to grant the entire squad the benefit of being in cover.
      I think what Lee meant to say was that even if you can draw line of sight to only a single model out of a 10 man squad, you can still hit and potentially kill the entire squad, including the 9 models you can't even draw line of sight to (albeit on a -1 to hit for all shots). Idk if that's actually the case but I think that's what he meant.

    Is the Overwatch action a homebrew rule? I can't find it in the core rules... I think it made things feel a bit passive.
    Also, I definitely think it was a bit of a shame that the Battle Suits weren't deployed more aggressively. They were kind of wasted just hiding away and firing just a pair frag grenades each turn.
    Finally, I love seeing the old Broadside. I believe the newer Broadsides (which have been scaled up) are generally used as Heavy Battle Suits, which is how I plan to run mine... but it looks a bit scrawny for a Toughness 12 Unit so I think it's kinda fitting to just run them as Battle Suits with Indirect weapons.

    • @metaadinfinitum

      That's to do with Daoism where disputes about how to romanize the Chinese characters has lead to alternate English pronunciations of Daoism...
      Both GW's T'au and the OPR TAO don't really have any reason to follow this rule and should have a T sound.

  • @robinmunn
    @robinmunn Před 2 lety +1

    At 14:25, you rolled six attacks with Blast(3), which all hit, resulting in 18 hits against a unit of 10 models. You played that correctly according to the version of the rulebook you had, but the rulebook has recently had an update. Now, Blast is limited to generating no more than one hit per model in the target unit. So under those new rules, the unit of 10 models would have needed to roll 10 defense dice, not 18, and it's likely that more of them would have survived. To compensate for this nerf to Blast, Blast now *ignores cover*, so firing grenades is a very effective way to deal with an infantry squad hiding behind a wall. See onepagerules.com/2022/01/07/new-year-new-game-version/ for more details.

    • @xFallenAngel
      @xFallenAngel Před 2 lety +5

      You're actually reading that rule incorrectly.
      Yes, Blast can't generate more than one hit per model in the target unit, but that limit is for each *individual* attack with Blast.
      So as long as the target unit has at least 3 models in it, every Blast(3) hit can fully multiply. As such, the rule was applied correctly, even after the change.
      The change itself was largely intended to stop Blast from basically functioning at full effectiveness against single model units.
      Blast(3) is at full effectiveness against anything but solos or already decimated units (as even elite units have 3 models).
      Blast(6) however starts to show diminishing returns even against standard squads (5 models), so you want to use those weapons to shoot at swarm size or combined units (10+).
