This video isn’t really that helpful. This video just feels like one long advert. You are an advocate for popular themes such as Divi when themes such as those decreases page speed no will affect your rankings. I checked out the tutorial on your website for salient and the end product isn’t really that impressive.
Thanks for the comment, definitely saved me time watching this video
Same!
I liked the video but kind agree...Especially the plug in about Theme-forestI..The themes are no better on there..I have purchased new updated themes only to have outdated files etc..I prefer nonsponsored vids..
True but Divi is very good. My sites get 100 speed score when using the right caching plugin
You're right ! Elementor themes are the best
Great video, you cover a lot and it's all really helpful in an uncommon way. Good work man.
Great video, thanks for breaking down the basics. Changing themes used to drive me crazy. Recently decided to try Wordpress again so this is very helpful
As a first time viewer, i gotta say, you're solid brother. Definitely subbing. One question i have is this: I have a theme i use for my main website and it's fine, but i'm feeling like it's missing some pop. I'm planning on creating a staging site and then using Salient as my theme. The demo looks spectacular and it's exactly what i'm looking for. I know it's a bit more complicated incorporating a brand new theme into a site that's established with content, but do you think this will be something i can more or less do without too much of a headache?
Nice to see the craylor academy back :) Hope to see a video or list again for black Friday with nice deals you found. Bought last time some themes with your link :) Which provider you are using for craylor academy now? Is it still Podia or you found something better?
What would you recommend for a computer repair business theme ?
Thank you so much for creating and sharing this video. I'm in the process of migrating from Wix to WP. Your video was very helpful 🙏🏾
I really don't understand the difference between a regular license and an extended license. So if you have multiple digital products on your website and for example the Salient Theme you can't offer any products? Because it says "[...] in a single end product which end users are not charged for"?
What about coaching and such? Or maybe I read into it too much and it is way simpler. Anybody care to explain?
Cloudways Hosting vs Site Ground?
Any recommendations for ecommerce site start up. Low traffic but will need to scale.
Have you heard of MinimigWP theme? It has loads of functionalities so I’m planing on buying it since saliant theme is for WPbakery and I’m using elementor
how to know what builder used to build a theme?
Kick ass superb video on how to choose the best word press themes. Great Work!
Super helpful. Thanks!
Exactly what I needed, thanks!
What’s up with Envato ! All the services are also gone and their customer service is so shit. Four weeks before an answer
omg I'm literally in the same situation. I'm an operations guy but I'm trying to build a site for a friend, I let her pick and it's garbage
I won't consider a theme that isn't block-based FSE anymore. I know a lot of WP peeps aren't ready to make the transition, but I refuse to do new projects using old themes. I know we are still in transition to full Gutenberg, but that's where the future is, and the benefits are huge.
What is your favorite or most useful theme with FSE? Ii'm struggling to find a standard.
Yes you are right. The only builder I will use if I am not coding the frontend. Very crisp and clean and no bloat. Custom headers and footers are clutch with Gutenberg. My favorite is Greenshift theme and plugin in WP. Greenshift can do much more than any of the builders and themes he explained in this video.
Check out Ollie. @@newunderthesun7353
Such good info. I would also recommend optimizing your ads in CZcams to Hosting and Web Design
Thanks for your kind words! I’m curious, are you seeing generic ads on my videos? I’m actually having a problem with AdSense at the moment, so this sort of data from a viewer is very valuable.
VERY informative, so thank you!!! "Start by making sure it uses your preferred page builder." Well, THAT is the big problem. I'm a long-time experienced app developer but a WP newbie and it's driving me nuts. I took over a website that someone had started in GoDaddy's GO theme and I've been tearing my hair out trying to cope with the kinds of issues you described: "Why do you put so much of a gap there? Whaddya mean I can’t really make changes to the header? There’s no simpler way to put a border around a paragraph? Why is that left edge there and why is text wrapping in the middle of words?" So, I thought I'd see what some other theme might do, and I chose one from Bold Themes. Oh my, that was much worse (IMHO) with a horrible backend editor (Bold Page Builder, I think) that may require a master's degree to operate. Do (or someone you know) you have a video comparing the underlying popular builders, rather than the themes? Thanks!!!!
Oh lordy...i wish I had found your site first. I bought a theme recently to replace my really old one. OMFG...I am ready to pull out my hair. I loved my old theme and was trying to get one that was at least similar, but even with their "easy 1 click" bullsh*t I cannot work with it. I'm ready to scrap the whole damn thing.
Wordpress's Gutenberg block editor has come such a long way. I feel like it's always glossed over because it doesn't have the bells and whistles. I think it's much more worth it to create a Child theme of the default theme (Twenty-Twenty Four) and learn a little bit of CSS instead of the endless menu diving of these bloated page builders
I was built CZcams video downloader using golang + tailwind css. How to sell it, bro
Thank you for validating my feelings about how terrible working with Wordpress can be
Thumbs up. Sure, there are some plugs for specific products like Salient, and yet there are a lot of excellent points throughout the video. Worth the 10 minutes to watch.
Very good video!
I checked out the Salient theme you suggested by clicking the link in the description. However, I'm confused. What do I need to buy? Salient + a theme or is Salient the actual theme?
Salient is the theme 🙂
@@Craylor And that is all I need? No editors etc.? Thank you for such a quick reply!
@@thewelsho Nothing else needed! It comes with WP Bakery.
@@Craylor Brilliant! Thank you!
fantastic information!!
Thanks! All real stuff.
How do I contact you for promotions?
How about Generate Press theme?
I messed with WP themes about 12 years ago (went onto self hosted sites since then). Well here I am again considering WP again for personal project and I am surprised by how similar everything is from functionality, layouts, pluggins all look the same from 12 years ago. Did wordpress take any steps forward in all that time...12 years is an eternity for tech.
Yaz
I actually got to search youtube videos if there were any updates, cos when I logged in after many years, there has been little or no changes either. I will give it a try and see if I can still work with WP
i'm in the same situation. i was just looking at wp themes and they are the same as when i looked at them several years ago. they look old, and nothing like what you'd find on squarespace and even wix.
I need to make 1 website for my e-commerce business. I refuse to use shopify and other sites to have control over me and charge for ever small feature to add. I am also not making multiple websites, just multiple pages, blog, contact us, etc, but do love the features on elementor pro & plug-ins.
If I essentially never update anything, would my website be fine when elementor pro expire? Just like a smartphone or computer (technically).
Until the point I want to change the overall full look and feel for my own website, then I would have to get a new license?
I just see the sense of oaying subscriptions fees when my focus is selling not web development. Why else would i need pro EVERY year as a business owner? In which scenario pro would make sense to have for me?
This is a great question! Your website is not going to self destruct if you let Elementor Pro expire.
However, if your website is important to you, and especially if you are running an e-commerce store, I would highly advise against that.
The reason is because even if you don’t need to make design updates to your site, WordPress plugins are constantly updated with security fixes when vulnerabilities are discovered. Hackers can and will exploit websites that are running outdated plugins with security holes that still haven’t been patched - I speak from experience.
So if you go the route of Elementor Pro, I would plan on renewing your license perpetually.
I do think Elementor Pro makes sense for some people. I use it on my craylormade.com website to dynamically generate the “Christian’s Picks” pages based on a custom post type I made in ACF. If you need advanced features like this, Elementor Pro may be worth it for you.
I’ve got a video about Elementor coming next week!
@Craylor would you suggest another option. I appreciate divi one time lifetime option. I wish elementor had one similarly priced. I also was recommended to look into the flatsome theme template, but still not sure. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. I am not a web developer and just need my 1 or 2 sites to be made, and move on with life.
@@MrVuittonDon if you are just making one site and want an affordable lifetime option, it is probably best to go with something from ThemeForest like Avada or Salient. Flatsome js also highly rated, though I do not have any personal experience with it.
What about for a youtube theme?
So glad to hear someone who prefers Bakery over Elementor. I thought I was the only one. LOL. When Elementor gets tied into a theme, it's just too complicated. I find I can work faster - believe it or not - with Bakery.
Why on September 9-11 though?
Excelente! Thanks!
what you guys think about thrive themes?
I've been pulling my brains out my head through my nose for months now. I hate that this exists. Thank you for your guidance.
Have you heard of Flatsome?
I come from the days when sites were edited in notepad, and I grew from there. I've always hated WordPress.
I like the Divi protocol, but would rather start new projects in FSE blocks.
CRAP! JUST A SALES PITCH TO SELL HIS SPONSORED HOST AND THEME!
Better SEO theme and features is NEVE after testing all themes availables
yeh Slider background in Woodmart was a pain in the ass to find
You get commision when I buy these themes from the link in description
Page builders are awful, WordPress is not intended for those, I prefer themes that rely on basic WordPress functionality. For galleries and portfolios it's better to create custom page templates and attach images to the post. I also would like to see more themes without grid systems, css has it own, it's called css grid. Many developers doesn't want to put in the time (it seems) so they take the shortcut. IMHO
I teach anatomy courses to professionals what theme is best
This is a yr old.
Any update?
Precisely - I've bought several Child Themes. However, when installed them I realize that they are not optimized for userfriendly customization. Sucks, amen 🙂
Wish I saw this video before I got my client to purchase a theme. He loved the layout and colors and I thought to myself: "Man this is going to be easy" Update........IT IS NOT. We are struggling to get to where we can actually edit the pages. It is advertised as an Elementor site and seeing that I am used to using Elementor, thought it would be a breeze. We are back and forth with the site that sold the theme and no resolution yet. Themes just make sense for someone that is not artistic, but if you are, you are better off building your site from scratch. It will probably turn out better looking than the theme you were going to buy.
I’ve been there! If you are comfortable with Elementor, the Hello Elementor theme is a great option to more or less build it from scratch.
@@Craylor I will try it, thank you for the suggestion.
If you made the video another 15 seconds longer then you could fit in another advertisement
Unfortunately every premium theme price looks attractive but you notice that theme sellers actually charges you yearly!! Why?
When you said salient and divi I dropped out. Salient doesnt have a footer tag. Divi is too slow.
Be Theme Sucks!! It did 6 years ago and still does (I recently had to work on a client setup) even though they’ve made millions and most Divi builds look similar. Salient an absolute Win if I had to pick a 2022 fav
Dude I swear I posted my comment before the video even got to Salient!!
@@bySterling Why Salient? Not really impressed with it from his tutorial.
I don't know does the video has more advertising of sponsors or any helpful reviews, damn.
I bought two and both failed, man the developers suck, take days to get back to you.
When can we talk about DNS options?
DNS options? Don’t think it really matters much. CDN maybe.
I wish salient was on elementor
divi is OG
So true! I'm having trouble getting a good looking website. 😢
to a million plugins to make it work lol
then you need elementa do that too like editing a theme
LOL
Yeah, themes suck. Just get the features you need and start from scratch.
Marfury woocommer so bad
Switch to Hugo instead.
🙌❤️
I disagree with you. I don't see theme forest bing the number one go to theme editor
Which marketplace do you see as #1?
@@Craylor Divi
@@Craylor Theme force doesn't have any yearly or lifetime subscriptions. You have to buy each and every theme on their website. Which gonna be very expensive.
@@thetruthwillnevergovoided4344 I would argue that Divi isn’t really a theme marketplace (even though they do sell add-ons). Divi is a great theme though as I mentioned in this video.
@Craylor Yes but divi Offers hundreds of themes For a yearly subscription or a lifetime subscription. Theme forest Has quantity templates but the problem is they charge you so much money For the temples individually and that makes it hard for any developer To grow their business.
Salient bro? Lol
Themes and cookie cutter templates are for folks that can't code. If you are looking for a web designer and they use Wordpress templates, run! Do not waste your money on charlatans like these guys. You can easily do what they are doing yourself by using bullshit builders like Elementor. Yes, your site will have bloat because of all of the plugins. If you really want a clean build, and can't code, then Gutenberg is the way to go with something like Greenshift. Even the WP 2024 theme is good. Do not listen to these "influencers" lmao. I just love coming here to show coworkers what not to do, by showing them CZcams "influencers"
salient is so slow ... sorry, not good
Stop talking too much and wasting time
The first 1 min was talking about me thanks for the video
underrated video
