- In this video I will go through the issues I've been through after using the Pixel 8 Pro for more time, thankfully, most of them got fixed after installing Android 14 QPR1 Beta 2.2 update so, let me share my experience.

So glad to see these follow-up reviews. A ton of other tech "reviewers" just make one video and never talk about the device's condition over time. Its such a horrible practice in the tech space. Literally like reviewing a game after only playing the tutorial. Keep it up!

I absolutely agree! And there were so many positive reviews on his phone... I felt like it was a good deal, but it didn't turn out to be unfortunately. I've posted a video with the things I hate about this phone and I wish I knew these things before purchasing it..
@@Deal_Advisor It was a good phone with enough annoying little things to make it not worth it, needs faster charging better battery and a real fingerprint reader and don't even get me started on the piece of crap pixel watch. Google should be ashamed of that crap.

@@AbcXyz-lv5iv if you're a gamer I wouldn't get the pixel 8 pro it works for casual gaming, a couple of games of COD or maybe some asphalt 9. But if you're going to play against Ginshin impact I would probably stay away from this phone

I have been getting awesome battery life. Just based on the October Android 14 update.
On two different occasions I have short full 4K HDR videos for several hours without any thermal heating.
Battery life also has held up good for the whole day.
I'm really loving both the pixel 8 pro and the pixel watch
How? Mines drains pretty quick when I'm not using wifi
@@gorillamafia5144 How is your mobile network coverage? I would say I am on WiFi 80% of the time and on Cellular 20% of the time. But I end my day with about 30-40% battery. My screen time is mostly CZcams and few minutes of video calls.

It is right on the phone all the features vs. being done on the cloud. The software updates. 7 years wow. Though I don't know I will have one phone that long, knowing me. I love trying new every year or maybe 2. Overall I am presently surprised. Even speed, though it isn't as powerful as a Samsung or iPhone Max. It sure comes close. For everyday user you will see no lack. I haven't experienced any battery heat issues. Anyhow this is a keeper for me. I don't even miss my s pen.

Haven't had any problems with my p8p finger print is fine neve had mess up yet, phones fast i get 8 hrs screen on time with around 17 to 20% battery left on wifi seems pretty good!
What is android 14 qpr1 beta 2.1? Is this part of the next December firmware? Because my Pixel 8 Pro still lags in the scroll here and there with the November patch 😬
Thank you so much for this video! You said that your battery life started getting worse seemingly randomly, but then it start greatly improving again. Was there anything you did to cause this sudden change, or was it just using your phone more and it further optimizing for your usage? if anyone else has had a similar situation, id love to hear from them too. I'm currently getting around 6hrs SOT down to 20% with around 16hrs usage.
Would you recommend the Android 14 beta.? I was getting 7 to 8 hours of screen on time before the October patch. Since then I'm just hitting 5hr

I haven't had any battery issues nor heat issues. I normally don't use android auto. I just have the maps running when in my truck. I drive semis and use it everyday for 5 hours or better with the screen off most of the time. Battery has been great. I had one app that was running in the background continuously. I forgot what it was. It wasn't a google app. I cleared the cache and storage and it began to run normal again. I'm also running the stable version of Android 14.
It looks to me like the ambient light sensor is the camera, and that makes sense. When your hand completely covers the camera it goes off.
Lessss go team pixel.
I didnt understand about Android Auto. Why are you using AA at home at night ?

Animations also lag when using picture-in-picture mode for apps like Netflx, Prime Video, CZcamsTV etc. P-I-P slows down the home screen when you have a video in a corner of the home screen and you're navigating through other apps. The swipe gesture to close other apps slows down significantly. Something you can also try..tested it out on 3 other Pixel 8 and same issue. This issue wasnt present on the Pixel 6.
That’s not just pixel. I have s23 ultra and still is same. Anthing that’s in Pip will make animations suffer. It’s like it drops to less than 60fps. Whereas iPhones don’t have that problem at all.
@@sajanpatel6751 Interesting..I guess this is an Android issue and not necessarily a Google or Samsung issue. Curious to see how Nothing and OnePlus phones handle PIP as well.
Did the read aloud bug got fixed? The bug where it would stop if you started it then swipe up to go to the home screen?
Has the editing feature hangup from Camera app, been solved? On Pixel 7 Pro when I press edit, it takes like 20seconds just to be able to edit the photo taken... When the camera is launched from double-press power-button. When Camera is opened with unlocked phone, there is no long wait.
I picked up the 8 pro on launch and was so dissappinted with performance. Cursing the 'underpowered' tensor chipset for laggy scrolling and stuttery animations. I was going to sell it and take the loss but glad i stuck with it. Its a very smooth and bug free experience now.
My pixel 8 pro display does not stay rotated after the screen is locked. When unlocked, even though the phone stays in the horizontal position, the screen is no longer in the rotated mode, not very smart from pixel 8 pro. Do you have the same issue and do U know how to fix this?
My Samsung phone never has this issue, always knows to rotate the screen to the correct rotated display as per the phone position.
What screen protector are you using?
It's something about the pixel 8 pro. When I'm holding It I get a tingly sensation in my hands. Feels weird and makes me not want to hold the phone. And gets warm doing simple things like reading a Epub even on wifi and sim not inserted in the phone. Just using wifi for data. When I'm holding other phones doing the same kind of task I don't get the same sensation. Such a shame because I REALLY like the pixel 8 pro. It's just the phone always warm and making my hand feel numb if a deal breaker. My problem is that Im past my 2 week return time so now I'm stuck with it.
I miss the curved edges. I'm hoping they offer the new updates on the Pixel 7 Pro. I'm seeing accidental touches on all sorts of flat phones ... so what are you guys going to blame it on now since the curves are gone?

To me what matters most is stability, battery and customization. My 14 pro has been absolutely horrible in battery on my vacation. It’s getting around 4 hours of life before it dies and that’s with low power mode. I get I have FaceTime running and maps going and the brightness is up, but for a pro device it should be able to handle it. Siri, let’s not even talk about that “assistant” I’m really eyeballing the pixel phone but have been hesitant because I’m deeply in the Apple ecosystem
I knew that the phone was going to get better over time. Google is more about software. But I am still on the fence about buying it.

Hey regarding the laggy lockscreen animation 4:05 , its due to faceunlock turned on. If you disable faceunlock the animations will be back to being smooth. This issue has not been fixed in the November patch unfortunately. I refuse to turn on faceunlock due to the laggy animations.

No issue here! Are you all fully updated on the "Google play system updates"? Face unlock does not give me any issues. And there are about 4 or 5 of those updates all together. Just go to settings and search "Google play system update"!

In trying to sideload latest a14 on pixel 6 pro but when i write command
"Adb sideload" it ends up with error "can't read package"
I have liked your videos as always but it's really hard to get the hands on these devices, firstly hard to find and very expensive here in UAE
I don't have the 8 Pro but my 7a suddenly started losing battery percentage quickly in the afternoons about two weeks ago. It was going down to 20-30% by 3 pm with light use. Now it's improved vastly again and is really good. With light to moderate use, my percentage is still at about 60% at 3pm. So I don't know what happened.
Hey, I've had my Pixel 8 Pro for about a month I guess, it's a great phone - the only issue I found was that Adaptive Charging doesn't seem to work when I place the phone on my fast charging wireless charger over night. I wake up in the morning and battery power has actually been lost..! I think adaptive charging is a great idea but maybe it doesn't work well on wireless chargers...🤷🏾♂️ Anyway, I got the Google November update last night so I'm going to see if that changes anything.
My media player stop showing on the lock screen for some reason. I've gone in settings and toggled on and off the "show media controller on locksreen" but it still won't work. Weird
Please make a long term review of pixel 7 pro, I'm facing batting drain issues. Plus I think camera is also degraded with time

I'm really excited that this is also happening to Google phones, it's new software and hardware, and bugs like this are just inevitable, they will all get fixed over time
They are not inevitable they are UNACCEPTABLE!

reddit stutters in every single android device, is not about the phone
Google needs a better contact and contact photo resolution integration, its pretty bad when you need to reduce the size on the dialer to accommodate and its generally defaulting to placeholders anywsys because of the lack of syncing and optimization.

Love the phone. One major issue for me though is the Bluetooth does not work well in some cars
Mine is so terrible, 6 pro. For the last two years it's hit or miss, CZcams works but shorts don't, rumble won't work until I go to bt options screen just seeing it it kicks on, Android is so terrible in that regard they always break network stuff with updates etc I don't understand why.

Probably Whitestone dome they have been great with challenging curved screens a bit pricey Id rather take my chances caseless etc and pay the deductible which is about twice that.

My experience from Oct to Nov 1st so far , only problems iv had is with Google magic eraser I can be editing a photo and it crashes the app a good few times and doesn't save to new edited photo and is very annoying as iv wasted my time several times trying to sort a photo out . Hope this can be fixed with a update. This happens when on a secure WiFi at home too . Other than that it's been a very nice phone and I am impressed so far with the battery life , speakers ,screen brightness.
Only other thing is I have come from Samsung phones and I did miss the vibrant screen of the Samsungs and even when I changed the settings on pixel 8 pro to vibrant its still not as colourful as I'd like , would be nice if there was more adjustment on this .

Great re-review that focuses on what's wrong and what's not, but can you focus more on the regular Pixel 8?
As it deserves more attention honestly, also since it performs unbeatable on it's price range. with great hardware & software, people just really want to see an in-depth review & a re-review on that specific device.
My Pixel 7 Pro had a lot of overheating issues, it got to the point where apps would lag constantly and you couldn't even use Google maps. I noticed CZcams had a lot of issues as well and you can't play 1080p Premium on the Pixel for some reason. Went back to my S22 Ultra and the one UI is just better.
Can I go back to stable a14 when beta ends? I am afraid to sign up for that reason

My big issue with 7pro is scrolling specialy on CZcams
On my car the Android Auto is not working with the original cable attached to the phone when you buy it. with a different cable it works without any problem...wiered
I think the biggest problem is the fingerprint sensor. It's really a hit and miss thing. Frustrating!

I noticed when my pixel 8pro gets hot the Internet starts having issues it goes from 5g uw down to 5g
I stopped using the Facebook app multiple years ago. I see its still a horribly optimized app.
I've just ordered a replacement Pixel 8 Pro from Google .... So many bugs with phone app, Instagram, camera app and saved videos dropping frames. It has slightly improved with the latest update but a full factory reset has not fixed the phone app issue so google have issued a replacement. Hopefully all issues will be fixed 🙏🤞

Just upgraded to November update via OTA zip method through adb mode. After updating i ran Android runtime component cleanup cmdline in adb shell: pm art cleanup
It cleaned up 700MB of unused odex files. Afterwards just ran to run pending optimisations: pm bg-dexopt-job. So far so good
For me the issue it's get warm very fast
I had my Pixel 8 pro kinda glitch when I watch youtube videos. I close the video and click on it again, and it works. I dunno if it's my youtube or my phone's fault.

I was going to get one, but just couldn't face the embarrassment of whipping out my thermometer to take a photo. Hopefully, they'll get rid of it next year and I'll get the Pixel 9.

I have a very annoying problem with my Pixel 8 Pro. I am aware that OIS requires moving parts in the camera, but I have a rattling noise when making normal phone calls and walking. This knock, knock is incredibly annoying. I also can't wear a headset all the time and when you make videos and move around, you can hear it too. Sure, you can filter out the noise, but I've never had this issue with any of my previous phones.
I have had a few bugs, and battery life is up and down after each monthly update (on beta). Though battery life has been more than enough for my usage, I get close to two days with 3-4 hours SOT per day. I do not game, and the UK has a temperate climate, so there are rarely any heating issues. I do not use Android Auto, and 5G is turned off as it is too patchy in my area, causing battery drain and the 20% extra power 5G needs over 4G.
A very good phone, but IMHO, all flagships are now at a point where they are fantastic, and any choice is down to UI, OS, brand loyalty, or specific features. It's a win-win, whatever you choose.

I have the same issue with my pixel 6, Android auto makes my phone very hot and drains the battery
I am okay with less brightness on the S23U but i dont ever have any performance issues. Updates are definitely crutial for performance. Google still kills it in theur own way and thats a W.
it's getting hot and draining battery quickly because, Google is listening and watching you as you use your phone.

I just bought and paid in full for a Google Pixel 8 Pro and when I get a text there is no sign either sound or graphic that it has arrived. This is very alarming because I had a perfectly fine cheaper phone, a Galaxy S22. Can I salvage this boondoggle Pixel 8 or should I return it?

I plug in USBC to activate Android Auto in my car so it is always charging my phone as it is being used
Regarding the scrolling issue, the worst apps for me were Reddit, CZcams and Play Store.
I ended up returning my P8P unfortunately, the performance was just not there (I also had a few frame drop issues in some games).

The Pixel 7 is the worst phone I've ever owned. Period. Partially because it claims to be flagship quality while having the same performance as $200 prepaid phones from the gingerbread days. I'll never buy a phone from Google again.
Bro did no mention how bad it is to use Google photos app. I sometimes cannot move photos from file to file, nor can it edit the photos saved from, say twitter. Magic editing is great, but the whole app provides more negative view than positive, especially for ppl who manages photos regularly. Also, in camera you cannot delete bad photos you just take, you have to go to gallery
It's a horrible app. I really miss Samsung Gallery. I can't find recently downloaded images half the time. It's so clumsy to use.
I love my Pixel 8, the only problem is that the battery drains quickly, especially at night when I'm not using it. Overnight I lose almost 10% of my charge!

Facebook Scrolling lag on my iPhone 14Pro too
A few Meta apps are having issues on iOS devices, from WhatsApp to Facebook, meta should optimize these apps, it's getting really annoying

Do you feel the Pro is worth $300 more than the regular 8? I like the size and price of the 8, but worry that I'll miss out on key features, like better cameras.
I dont feel so. Pixel 8 has same Main camera sensor, compact in size and 120 Hz display. I would say spending 900$ on 8Pro is foolishness, because pixel phones are highly unreliable. Forget about the 7 year upgrade, you wont be able to use it for more than 4 years. Again the extra feature on Pro is the Telephoto camera, but it doesnt support taking Portrait photos using that lens, iPhone and S23 has this feature. That third camera doesnt make much sense to me hence.
Pixel 8 seems like a good value compared to Pro. Again at the same price, you can get an iPhone 15 which has better speakers, display, mic, face id and h/w quality and hence more value for money. I have used several Pixels and its no match to Apple.

It sounds like you don’t know what you need. If you need Pixel 8 Pro features, buy a P8 Pro. Simple.
Either you want a P8 Pro or you need a P8 Pro: it’s different.
I was going to trade in my Note 10+ for Pixel 8 because I'm tired of Samsung One UI bloatware and just want stock Android. BUT, no HDMI OUT is a huge deal breaker for me!😭
