      @@JoshtheRVNerd Completely agree we liked ours being laminated and it actually was one of the deciding factors. I didn’t know much about campers then and assumed “stick and tin” was of inferior quality. I now know better and our current camper is tin. Sadly, I don’t think Keystone makes the layout we had anymore either.

    LOVE that it has a sofa in addition to the bed. This plan or a Murphy works for me. Bunk area works for storage (top) and ME (bottom) in the case hubs gets too sweaty. I do like the split bathroom. TFS 👍

    We have the 2016 version of this model. I love the new upgrades. I would love to see a third door in the storage cabinets above the dinette instead of the solid panel. Having another door would make those cabinets much more user friendly. A wall switch for the overhead lights in the bedroom area is also on my list of nice to haves.

    So I recently went to check out a Jayco 264bh and noticed Jayco updated the magnetic locks, after we talked about this months ago. Big win as it is more functional and a premium feeling compared to the others at this price point. So now to get over the threshold, I brought my wife to check the camper out and she mentioned the main sink faucet being of lesser quality compared to the Grey wolfs multidirectional standard faucet sprayer. I prefer Jayco over Grey wolf but that faucet being loose when you manipulate it , (checked it out in multiple units) is in need of an update. Thanks for your info as always and continued success.
    Jeremy

    Josh, you were the determining factor in our RV purchase lol your videos are great. We ended up going with this 2021 264bh. Looks identical to the one in this video but with a mini fridge in that rear storage. I heard you say you have an older version of this model. May I ask what changes or upgrades/modifications you’ve found work well for this unit? I’m not crazy about how wobbly the dinette table is. Thanks again for the great videos

    This video was a lot of fun. Great work as always. This unit looks like one that could really work for us. Question: Do they still offer the optional full bedroom wall with privacy door? I didn’t see it on Jayco’s website. (Sorry, I know I comment a lot. I actually thought I shouldn’t comment as much cuz I’m giving you more work to do and you’re busy enough! Lol) Thanks as always!

      The full bedroom privacy wall has never been a standard option. We've built them that way in the past as a special order, but with their current production demands at Jayco they're not currently offering that setup.
      I tried. I was bummed to hear it.

    • @JoshtheRVNerd
      @JoshtheRVNerd  Před 3 lety +2

      It's basically just the roof plug and some wiring down to the charge control point. Panels and controller need to be installed, then wiring actually run to the front of the RV from the controller point. It's not "plug and play."
      The RV industry often uses the words "Prepped" in this case where "Ready" means plug and play if that makes sense.

    Slight Changes.... Remove the Queen Size Bed and the Sofa... leaving that space OPEN so that a person can create their own sitting area/TV and the Like..
    Change the floor covering throughout to a Sandy to Light Color Thick Insulated backed Linoleum.. Have cabinets, Dining Booth and other wood items to match with a light color (blond) wood...
    Now, if it was possible, do away with the Water, Black, Gray storage tanks and install Direct hook ups on the outside, as most places now are offering direct hookups to Water/Sewage. If this was possible, then I would upgrade the Toilet and Bath Sink from Plastic to Porcelain, which is not an expensive upgrade, and more durable....

  • @Humble-Engine
    @Humble-Engine Před 3 lety +1

    I would really like Jayco to add magnetic door catches since they are now including a propane tank cover and power tongue jack. DO you enjoy using the plastic latches on your Jayco 264 ? Everyone I know that has the plastic latches for their cargo door catches, has broke them off. like you said it just makes since to do the simper cheap things. The plastic cargo catches as one walks up to it, just makes the camper seem dated and cheap, making it hard to focus on the talk of plywood, tank covers or a 12v fridge conversation. I would like to know the cost saving on this change if you don't mind the NERD knowledge. I appreciate your time and videos plus I pay attention to what you would put your family in camping wise, so that is good enough for me as well.
    Keep up the great work!

    • @JoshtheRVNerd
      @JoshtheRVNerd  Před 3 lety +1

      I prefer the magnets as well. As a more casual camper I can tolerate the plastic holdbacks. I could easily add a few magnets myself if I was that revved up about it. Not a major item. A few other brands we carry do that (like Wildwood for instance)

Our RV store didn’t have that one in stock but they had this one and we fell in love! Love your reviews, so easy and fun to listen to. The only thing I find this one lacking, which is absolutely not a deal breaker is the outdoor mini fridge that would go where the under the bunk storage is. Debated between this model and the 224BH. I like the sofa and camp side table and windows of the 264, id love it even more if it had the camp kitchen. In your opinion would the extra length of the 264 make it a nuisance to tow on weekend trips?

    I currently own a 2011 Jayco Jayflight 23RB and would really like to upgrade to the larger bunkhouse like the one shown! However, what really bothers me about the bunkhouse version is that the upper cabinet is missing above the bed. It just has a shelf! instead. Also the cabinet in the kitchen does not extend all the way to the corner above the couch and over the window like mine does. There is just wasted space when the cabinet only goes halfway across the wall. Also, my current model has a handy little spice rack above the lower cabinet doors below the sink instead of that area being blocked off. Again, wasted potential space! I see those details as a major deal breaker from upgrading to the bunkhouse model. It’s amazing to me that Jayco would delete those things on what would be a perfect design for so many people. Do you think that you could possibly influence the Jayco design team in these areas Josh??? Keep up the good work Josh!!!!

    • @JoshtheRVNerd
      @JoshtheRVNerd  Před 2 lety +1

      Those “missing” things are actually a result of the history of the jay flight line
      There used to be a more fully featured Jay Flight, then they came out with this lighter and simpler SLX series. BOTH subsets of the Jay Flight-family used to have versions of this floor plan
      Over time the consumer buying patterns clearly showed this was the more popular of the two so those Extra things you’re seeking were essentially lost when the big brother was retired
      Thankfully.. we carry a lot of different brands with similar layouts
      Try this one and see how it feels: m.czcams.com/video/hAl8_F1byH4/video.html
      And remember there are a BUNCH of brands that build something like this
      Feel free to hit me up for more links sometime!!

      @timhobbs2712 Před 2 lety

      I watched the video that you recommended and that floor plan and the interior colors are amazing! Closing the bedroom completely off and then having that extra wall space for another overhead cabinet is perfect!!!!! My concern with the other brand you recommended is that it doesn’t have the extra structural quality of a Jayco, and it doesn’t have a ladder for roof access. Another small thing is the angle for bunk access and the curtain is not as good as the Jayco. It’s frustrating trying to find the camper with all of the features that you want, all in one package! I really can’t thank you enough Josh for your help in learning about these campers as I shop around and select the best one that I want to invest my money into. It will be a long drive to get there but you will definitely get the first chance to earn my business whenever I get ready to make the purchase! Tell the Jayco design team to add that wall and door on the bedroom and the extra cabinets over the couch and bed. Thank you Josh!!!!!
