Gonna say this could be my favorite channel on CZcams and I don't even own and have never owned an RC...well a real RC had those toys when I was a kid but they don't count
Never too old to start.....I got back into RC because skateboarding was making my bones hurt too much and my knees hated me. Same with my dirt bike and my spine... when the RC breaks your transport is still intact and so is your body. 😂
Yep. I just got into the hobby on my 40th birthday. I had been interested and learning about RC. But actually got my first one at 40. I'm hooked.
@John Boy's RC honestly I have wanted to get into the hobby for years. Just have a lot going on on the home front so the cost has been and is at the moment an unnecessary indulgence. Got to put my kids and family first, however I love watching every video that Kevin puts out. This guy is fantastic and I can't even begin to comprehend how anyone could hate on him.
I bought one for my son cause of him, you could get into it for a few hundred bucks.

Hey Kev! I really like the videos where you find old discontinued rcs, and I’d really recommend finding a losi muggy, they’re originally nitro with a high torque engine, very tough buggers, and very fun. I’ve upgraded diffs and drivetrain on one and pushed it to 8s lol
Wondering if you could run a bar from front to rear shock towers, on both sides, to either keep the chassis from bensing or flexing or to straighten it back up?

i said it a thousand times before and i say it again. the problems these rubbish nitro engine cars seem to have do NOT justify their existence!
i hate them beyond measure now. every single time kev comes with one its always same. starting needs an hour. and if they run, 30 seconds later they are broken and alot tiny problems start to appear. there is only one thing to it: kill it with fire. all of them. back to electro.

I guess for us Americans that don't know what "tickover" is. It's what we call idle or idling. You give more or less tickover when you adjust the idle speed.

Oh yeah I almost forgot that piece of porcelain from the spark plug only works on tempered glass like bent doorglass or back window in your car or truck. Any tempered (heat treated) glass will due.😅it will make it spiderweb into a million little pieces.
I tried it when I worked at wrecking yard, worked first time on mid 70s windscreen.
@@derekhobbs1102 yeah they were tempered back then. Especially in Europe but Now windshields are two pieces of regular glass with clear nylon plastic sandwiched between them. One so you still have glass. That’s why you get rock chips or cracks in windshield. It’s called AS1 level safety glass where as tempered glass on drivers doors and rear glass is AS2 because you still need protection from the windshield at speed instead of a face full of gravel sized pieces of glass.

Seeing as though you don't have a press to remove bearings. You can also use a socket And a vice. Or a C clamp and a socket.
If any rc can make it the second trip out with Kevin it's worth it. Thanks for another awesome video Kev.

One thing about straightening aluminum: it's very stiff so it helps if you heat it up first.
but then it goes soft and bends easier next time?
@@KevinTalbotTV No, aluminum isn't like steel, it doesn't lose its "temper"
You don't have to get it cherry red either, just "too hot to touch" is enough.
If you have a propane torch that's enough.
If you watch guys who rebuild wrecked ferraris they use this method a LOT when straightening bent aluminum pieces.
I wouldn't do this on a lower control arm, but for a 1/8" thick piece for an R/C? no prob.
You have to worry about melting the plastic stuff bolted to it, aluminum wicks heat really easily. Keep a water bottle handy.

Everytime I see a RC Chassis bend i ask myself why they don't make these out of stainless steel or even spring steel? Sure it's more heavy but the durability would be on another level.

If you think an aluminum chassis is expensive, HOO BOY stainless steel chassis would dwarf it
Actually the cost stainless steel and heavy duty alloy should be nearly the same. It is just the "RC label" that makes them so expensive.

I have the same truck except mine is blue and white and has monster truck style tires in different rims that came with it stock. Awesome truck so fun with handles very well and plenty of power worth every penny

I feel like the chassis is always a weak point on rc cars, especially such big ones. A full roll cage type structure bolted through the chassis and strut towers would make it so much stronger. Is this a thing? I've never seen it

Hi I'm from the USA and I just started to get into rc cars and my first one is Teton with a horizon body on it with lights and my second one is t Traxxas 1/16 e revo and put a Baja truck body on it but I'm looking at crawler a small one I want to know if I'm doing it right and not spending lots of money? What do you recommend I should look on rock crawler?
Do you ever consider non-hobby components for the ESC and motors? like Anaheim Automation for motors and boca bearings?

Nice work Kev. I operate on the assumption that Kev bashing is a tad rougher than the average Joe out there (it's ok, I find it entertaining). This truck took that relatively well, so should be fine for most of us. It really did handle better with those smaller wheels.
You ought to get someone in with a proper slo-mo camera to film crashes (if you haven't already). It's amazing the stresses an RC chassis goes through.

The myth isn’t busted regarding the spark plug, that works 100% of the time, but only on tempered glass 👍🏻👍🏻 you should definitely record trying it on a car window. (Make sure it’s not your neighbors car lol)

Nothing wrong with knocking stuff out with a hammer, but a bench top press makes it quicker and easier plus you can use it for other things that come up.
Also heating the chassis will help when trying to bend it back.
1:00 to straighten stuff like that, get yourself a steel L channel and a c clamp. Line them up and put the clamp between the bent part and the L. If you need to "over straighten" you can put some spacers on the ends so the middle tightens more. you can use that for chassis too. (kind of like when you put it in a vise and tighten it down). It works great for things that you can put in a vise.
dont think a c clamp would be strong enough, needs a press and v block really
