Not gonna lie, I was skeptical about the Mod, because I haven't had much success with spring mods in the past. I took my 4x4x4 apart, (yes, I could've just unscrewed, but I wanted to relube the internals) and Oh My Gosh, this is so fast, it's faster than most of my 3x3x3s. It took me upwards of an hour to rebuild the 4x4x4 because I suck, but it worked so well.
This is so good! The AoSu GTS M has been slaughtered by the WuQue with compressed springs.

For anyone wanting to do this, you just need a screwdriver to get the springs. You can download a ruler app if the real thing isn't available. Then you can press the spring with your fingers. Compress it to about half a cm for 1 sec and it should turn out to be 1.3 cm when it springs back.

It made my Wuque M a lot better. I was preferring my Aosu GTS M since my Wuque M's outer layer is bad but now it surpasses that of the Aosu. Thanks for this!

Well I bought my first wuque months ago it was stickerless and when I saw that it was real shit I thought that it was just defective, so I bought one with stickers... nothing changed, and then this video!
This mod is so simple and effective that I would never think about!

Daniel Zilouh I felt the exact same lol, bought a Wuque mini hoping it would be better but it was even more shit then I got depressed until I found this.
I *completely* missed the warning about only doing it on magnetic WuQues until after I did the mod, aaaaaaaaaa. At least I learned it's reversible and you can take out the screws + springs without disassembling the whole cube, so there's that. Thank you Chris for showing how to do it all and thank you Hariz for coming up with the mod! :D
I've been cubing since 2011 and I literally did almost every mod like 48-point zhanchi mod, consta, florian etc. but this one is the best i've ever seen... this one is ridiculously dropped my times from 40 to 37 secs. Thank you so much Chris and Hariz :)

I recently got a Wuque M and it wasn’t great. I lubed it with w3 and silk and it was ok, after adding 50k and this mod it’s amazing!

Thanks Chris! I tried this before seeing the vid but did on a non-magnetic and it ruined its performance, but I am very happy to learn that I can just simply re-stretch the spring.

after compressing the springs I lubricated one edge piece and a corner stock with a little bit of traxxas to give the layers an even speed then after breaking that in i lubricated it lightly with lubicle silk and dnm 37

I tried this and it was 100% worth it the layers are insanely fast and the inners are still about the same as before but be careful if you try this don't be too aggressive trying to get the screw and spring out cuz it will pop it happened to me twice but once you get the technique down it's pretty easy anyways hope you find this comment helpful.
It works great for a thunderclap mini 4x4 as well

Why for only magnetic Cubes?
Because the cube becomes looser and the magnets add stability.

Technically not looser but it allows for seemingly looser tensions but the force exerted back by the spring will increase more per mm pulled by corner-cutting etc.(not sure if understandable). The mod works quite fine for the wushuang too (I've tested recently but again, recommended for magnetic ones). For wushuang, you might want to adjust the length by only 1 mm instead of all the way to 1.3 cm. The mags help to slightly adjust the faces so that reverse corner-cutting would not be a problem (amplified a teeny bit by the spring mod)

for everybody with a non magnetic wuque. a way to the mod is to do it on only three sides. this way, it will be much faster and retain all of the stability

Don't do it if its not magnetic! I did this to mine a few weeks ago and it is horrible. The aosu gtsm is my main now because its fast and stable.
UPDATE from Acai. Tried it on my thunderclap M, springs are 1.2 cm compressed them down to 1.1 has the same effect just not as drastic.
How even? I tried it on that cube and held it for 40 seconds with no change haha.
Idk like i said it's not as drastic as it does with the wuque. I just noticed my cube was a bit sluggish and it made it slightly smoother.

Hariz Azizan I did it a while ago and my cube is pretty good, except it kind of catches. I think lubing the rings would help.

EDIT: when you put back the springs put a little bit of lube i have a little bit of spring noise but you barely can every hear it.

My WuQueM is Yuxin purple spring swap, it's really loose and smooth. By the way my magnets are 3*3 on both edge and corner

What will happen if i do this with a non magnetic wuque?
The mod was amazing, however, after lubing and tensioning, my cube would only perform well on really loose tensions that would pop. Tightening it would result in lockups every single turn
I did this to my thunderclap 4 by 4 mini and it transformed.
Now, the question is: in what other cubes does this compression/expansion of the spring mod work?

You probably need to clean the cube and put lube in it. I have a few qiyi sails, they don't pop and are plenty fast.

Not sure. I don't really think there's a reason to do it to a GTS though. Not all springs compress like this.

Please make a video on how to set up and tention a wuque. My one always pops and when i tightend it became slow.
Why can you specifically only do this to The Wuque M? Is there a reason why I can’t do this to my regular Wuque?

Hi Chris! Did you ever try switching Wuque springs to Weisu soft springs? If not, can it be suitable to Switch them for a faster feel? Would the cube feel better or worse? And one more doubt, are compressed springs same as soft springs??

Have you ever thought of spring compressing a 5x5(WuShuang) to make it faster since you love 5x5?
My 5x5 is already quite fast so I don't feel the need to try any spring mods to it.
Do you think that this mod would have a similar effect on the WuShuang?

First of all, thank you for sharing this, I tried this with my cube just today and OMG I love it and I would've never imagine that Wuque can be that fast without using some type of lube. Now my question, do you think the spring would go back to its normal shape because since it's not a permanent change like cutting it and by cutting it, it would stay the same because obviously its been cut? Thank again!

Not all springs can compress. The Yuxin blue has pretty much found the best setup by swapping the springs with thunderclap springs.
