Time Crisis 1-4 + Crisis Zone real arcade intros and attract modes 4K 60FPS

  • Real arcade hardware recorded using the Elgato Cam-link 4K and the OSSC. Upscaled to 4K 60FPS.
    All of the clips were recorded using my own arcade hardware from my personal collection. No emulation or clips from other CZcams channels were used. NOT MAME!
    I’m only doing the arcade versions Time Crisis 1-4 + Crisis Zone because I do have the original arcade hardware for those games. (No Time Crisis 5,Razing Storm or console versions of the games.)
    I have done gameplays for all the games except Time Crisis 4, why?, because I’m too lazy to set it up and I need to make some connectors. UPDATE: since the making of this video, I did do some Time Crisis 4 gameplay. It’s available on my channel!
    Games listed with the year and hardware they ran on:
    As you can see, almost all of them ran on “super” hardware except the first release of Time Crisis 2 and Time Crisis 3 (does not work on the Namco System 256/super 256 and there’s no such thing as a super 246)
    Almost all of the games ran on custom hardware except Time Crisis 3 and Time Crisis 4, which were based on the Sony PlayStation 2 architecture. Time Crisis 5 used PC hardware and Razing Storm ran on Sony PlayStation 3 hardware (Namco System 357).
    Hope you enjoy this video :)

      What hardware is the super 256 based on? The PS2 or PS3?

    • @FIGHTERSCHOICEArcade
      @FIGHTERSCHOICEArcade  Před 3 lety +4

      The Namco System Super 256 is still based on PlayStation 2 hardware. From what I have read online, it has a completely different bios that works specifically for Time Crisis 4 and has an overclocked CPU/GPU (the 256 use the same combined Emotion Engine/ Graphics Synthesizer chip the PlayStation 2 slims and early PlayStation 3s used.) Even though it’s still a 256 arcade system, it can’t run other 256 or compatible 246 games. It thows up an error message. This game also uses an IDE Hard Drive. Pretty neat and slim system. The game also has a separate audio port for the voice channel. It’s a special sound card that has a yellow RCA jack, people mistake this port for a composite video port. There is a hacked “patched” dongle version of the game some people have made to make the game run on a standard Namco system 256. It can be played by using the 2X6 USB multi dongle or having someone patch or convert your dongle for a fee. Have I tried it? No. I might in the near future to see if there’s any slowdown on a normal 256.

      @@FIGHTERSCHOICEArcade please don't hack your system 256 😅
      I think it's just safer that you promote Namco arcade games and it's console versions instead. Wouldn't want expensive hardware like the system 256 to be messed up by hacking it.

      @@kvin9210 true lol, it might be an interesting experiment, there’s no videos online of Time Crisis 4 running on a standard 256 and it’s a cool video idea. I have messed around with my systems before, even taking them apart. I do own the usb 2x6 multi dongle though and the patched dongle image is online, the only thing I’m to lazy to do is install the patch HDD image onto a blank hard drive. Too much for me at the moment lol! I did put a dvd drive on my super system 256 and used my tekken 5 dongle to see what would happen. I wish I recorded it, it was a disappointing error message though.

    Time Crisis 1 and Crisis Zone are so brutally cinematic in their presentation in a way not like the others. 3 comes close but those other two in particular stick out a lot. On another note, why do the Namco light gun games have so much better localization and voice acting versus their contemporaries? HOTD for example is notorious in this regard.

    Tekken 1 was originally to be based on that system, but as playstation came around the system 11 was done instead.
    Wonder how Tekken would have looked as a system 22 game or system 23!

    • @FIGHTERSCHOICEArcade
      @FIGHTERSCHOICEArcade  Před 2 lety

      If tekken 1 was done on the system super 22 or 23, that game would have been extremely expensive and I bet, impressive. Probably would have beat or lose to Sega’s virtua fighter but as you may know, tekken was originally done as a demo for the PlayStation hardware. Of course, tekken was released to smaller arcade who couldn’t afford Virtua fighter, and I believe that’s how tekken got popular, also the easier, arcade perfect port to the PlayStation home console. The system 22 and 23 are prone to having heat issues and they heat up like a mini oven, it’s terrible.

The PlayStation 3 port runs in 720p or 1080p upscaled and is in 16:9. Not sure about anything else because I don’t have the PlayStation 3 version. I only have the arcade version.

      Ah, interesting! I know that some ps3 and later ps2 games have a bunch of washed out colors. For the arcade version of Time Crisis 4, it uses old school, analog full range RGB VGA output. The PlayStation 3 has other options like limited RGB or full range RGB, and YPBPR through HDMI. Full Range RGB through HDMI is probably the closest you’ll get to the original colors of the arcade version. I know that some older displays don’t work well with full range RGB but it does make a bunch of ps3 games look better and less washed out.
