- This is every cutscene from all five arcade releases of the famous Time Crisis light-gun game series. Here, you will get to see not just how the graphics have improved with the arcade releases, but also overarching story elements that might tie some games together - namely one of our old favorite villains in the arcades, Wild Dog. This does not include cutscenes from Crisis Zone, Project Titan, Razing Storm, or the Strike games.
While I’ve had the idea for a while, I decided to get down to work after purchasing Camtasia 2020 and taking advantage of downtime at home due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Furthermore, I felt it necessary to structure this video somewhat like an overarching story, similar to how people have been telling the story of the Mishima Family in the Tekken series on CZcams. As a result, when it came to Time Crisis 3, I felt it best to intertwine the Arcade and Rescue Mission cutscenes such that it told the game’s overall story. I did the same for Time Crisis 4 as well, even though the FPS mode technically already does that. Please note, none of the clips you see in this video are my own.
If any fragments of gameplay show up, it’s from other people’s playthroughs. I will thus provide links to their videos out of respect for their content. Besides, it’s worth seeing these players in action anyway - you might learn some tips here and there if you’re new to the series. Also, I apologize if title or load bar fragments show up in the video - there was no way for me to crop that out without zooming the picture in and distorting the frame of the video. Still, I hope you enjoy this legacy project dedicated to one of my favorite Arcade series - Namco’s Time Crisis. Enjoy!

With all the gameplay cut out this is a pretty hilarious movie about a series of angry terrorists who make elaborate plans and threats and then suddenly die and/or explode for no reason, one after another.

Love how the characters have lip animations half the time and the other half they don't.
I know that was a common thing with Time Crisis 1, both in the Arcade and Playstation consoles. But I can't say I've noticed it as much in later games.

Yes. I keep hoping for a Time Crisis 6. Of course, it was almost ten years between when Time Crisis 4 and then Time Crisis 5 came out. Frankly, if they make another Time Crisis, I want it to have the same kind of in-depth story and character development that TC3 and TC4 had.

Man… I really don’t like how they did TC5’s story. (Long comment coming up, be full warned)
-Wild Dog and Wild Fang acting like cartoon villains rather than their usual characterisation
-Keith and Robert in a fall-out with each other, as well as Robert being evil
-Christy being killed off-screen
-Zero call backs to TC2 and the returning cast’s past and time since then
-Lack of any original characters besides Cathy and the player characters
-Super weak voice acting
-The very idea that the VSSE is suddenly bad
-Mechs, zombie drugs, and other stuff that just feel out of place in a TC game
TC5 is by no means bad to play. It has problems, but I found it at my local arcade huts this month and played it twice no problem. But every time I think about the overall plot, I just feel sad and disappointed.
TC5 could’ve been the next best game in the series… but I just don’t think very highly of it… 😔

When I saw that TC5 had come out, I was definitely excited. The in-game features are great, but I agree with you that the storytelling is much less compatible with the series compared to all previous games (the spin-offs as well as the original series for that matter; even Razing Storm had a considerably better story when combined with the PS3 Story Mode). When TC5 was produced, I guess Namco was more interested in promoting the double-pedal function over everything else. By focusing on one marketable feature, they probably let everything else practically slide to the wayside. You touched on a lot of the points that I think TC5 fell short of or could have done much better at.
Honestly, I think the most recent problem is that arcade games overall have struggled with compelling storylines since the 2010s and have instead played more into established franchises (instead of developing their own titles like how Time Crisis started) while using super-large cabinets and over-extensive features that make them less viable for small businesses and private owners. The House of the Dead, I noticed, recently failed at that too: when compared to all four prior games, I think HOTD Scarlet Dawn's story is the weakest of all (HOTD 1 is the best, and HOTD4 is in the middle).
I'm just hoping that Banda Namco comes out with a new Time Crisis 6 sometime in the 2020s that, in my opinion, should have the same intensity and development of a story as TC3 and TC4 (but doesn't necessarily have to be a continuation of either of those stories) while also having really good on-screen action. I was thinking about making a video, when I have the time, of what I would hope a potential TC6 game should look like.

Agreed on all. It’s really unfortunate for TC5. I guess that explains why this is the only game without a plot summary in the demo reel; it’s just one gameplay tutorial after another…
I do wonder what TC6 would look like in today’s gaming landscape, especially when (At least that’s how I’m seeing it) most players are more interested in playing indoors rather than at arcade halls. I do hope it has a good plot though like you said about TC3-4, regardless of its gameplay innovations and additions.
Until then, what I’d do for a TC Legacy Collection! ☺️
