  • Watch a new No Damage Time Crisis 4 / タイムクライシス4 video, a 1 Credit Completion, scoring over 7.2 million points!
10 years after my old Time Crisis 4 video, here is a new one!
It feels nice to be able to put out scores over 7 million on this game now.
This is again recorded with the PlayStation 3 separate release version, and it is not the Playstation Move version that was included with Time Crisis Razing Storm, or Big 3 Gun Shooting in Japan.
It is also played at 640x480 resolution, just like the arcade version of Time Crisis 4. There are some differences to the gameplay when having it like this, such as the frame rate being much closer to 60fps throughout, while the HD resolution has the game slowing down and reaching 30fps at times. Also, the screen is extended at the sides when playing with the HD resolution, and enemies are pushed back within the screen, making them slightly harder to hit. This creates differences when using the shotgun.
My target was 7.1 million on this game, but I was able to push my scores over 7.2 million shortly after. It's a very difficult game (for me) to put a run together with high scores in every area, especially because of the behavior of the terror bites being so much different from the arcade version.
I'll have a look at playing Time Crisis 4 with the HD resolution, though I feel the extra differences make it feel too distant from being arcade accurate.
    Thanks for watching!

The thing that was always so harsh about this game was that you really had to _know_ when you were safe and when you were about to get hit at _every_ stage. If you relied on reflexes alone, you were most likely doomed. That and nearly all the hiding spots prevented you from seeing the enemies at all, making it harder to figure out when to go back on the attack. I put in a _lot_ of time on TC2 and TC3, and the first few times I played this I was flabbergasted by how much damage I was taking.
Oh, and I never was able to prevent the truck from being destroyed. Never.
How was anyone able to get this kind of accuracy on the PS3 version? You had to stand, like, six feet away before the gun would even register. The snipe-the-tires scene always took me twenty shots, minimum.

    • @GoldRichness
      @GoldRichness Před 8 měsíci +3

I remember preventing the truck from being destroyed more times then letting it be destroyed. Game sense is also important. I vaguely remember completing screen battles like they were nothing. The only mistake I did was not destroying the exploding terror bites and I did this multiple times. I didn’t know you can use a machine gun on them. I just thought let them explode on their own and hide, but now I realize that came at the cost of some score.

I noticed in the desription you mentioned when playing TC4 in 16:9 "enemies are pushed back within the screen, making them slightly harder to hit". I was curious so I did a side by side comparison of the prologue and as far as I could tell the enemy placement was identical and the game camera was the same distance away, do you have any specific examples where in the game 16:9 effects enemy placement?
Besides that I do want to thank you for highlighting that playing the game in 4:3 is closer to the arcade version and is a huge boost to the frame rate, though I've run into an issue that my PS3 is a UK region OS so if you force it to 4:3 it runs in PAL 50hz instead of 60hz (and outside of buying a US PS3 looks like the only way to get true 480p 60hz is to jailbreak it and change the region in debug settings)

Expertly done, Smraedis. A very enjoyable run to watch.
I'm very sad to hear about all the problems concerning resolution and frame rate with the PS3 port. Makes this seem like a bit of a sloppy port, honestly. Many thanks, it's a shame the port is like this when the arcade version is based on PS2 hardware. The port does feel rushed, they most likely spent most of the time making the game fit a widescreen HD resolution.

Hi Smraedis, another awesome run! I used to run the arcade version of this game nearly every day after school around a decade or so ago. My dad was the manager of a local arcade and so I got free games a lot - which is how I learned to 1CC Time Crisis 3 & 4 and Ghost Squad and other shooters.
Anyway, what I wanted to say was that I know the arcade version like the back of my hand. But I've only ever had the chance to play the PS3 version once and that was at a gaming convention about 10 years ago, and I didn't get enough time to get a feel for it. I have seen many runs of this game on CZcams since then and one thing I had always wondered about was how widescreen affected this game. It is interesting to read all of the details you noted in the description of this video.
This PS3 version felt very 'off' to me and I didn't know exactly why at the time. The one section I got to play was Stage 1 Boss. And there was one very small thing that caught me big time!
At 13:56 you shoot the boss and he falls off the car and to the right. In the arcade version he falls directly behind it and you can shoot him through the pillars of the car. While not a huge deal, it caught me out at first since we rely so much on muscle memory in Time Crisis games.
Another thing that caught me out was the Guncon 3 and how to change screens you have to use the little thumbstick, I remember trying to flick the gun off-screen like the arcade version lol.
So yeah, I didn't exactly like the PS3 version from that brief playthrough I had of it.

I understand this, I was really taken back when I first played it in HD, and it all just didn't feel right.
The Stage 1 boss when he falls down is strange indeed!

Having watched Kaz's videos on TC4, you seem to have picked his technique in the second screen battle. Also, it is worth nothing that the fourth yellow soldier may drop machine gun rounds instead of shotgun shells as proven in his 8,002,940 points video.

Oh indeed, I noticed there was a big room for improvement in the first two screen battles. I sure was disappointed when I got SG instead of MG on that last enemy too!

I used to love playing this at the Arcades many years ago. And now I've had for a few years at home with the guncon & sensors.
But I'm hoping someone can help me.
I continue to get Stage 2-Area 3, completed all missions, & the game won't let me advance to Stage 3? I defeat the Stage 2 boss & instead of bringing me to Stage 3 it brings me to a save name screen. Afterwards, it says game over? Am I doing something wrong?
Any help or feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Like I said I keep getting all bad guys & completing all missions. And after defeating Boss 2, I get sent to a save name screen before it says Game over?
I'd be extremely grateful for any help or advice.

Incredible replay! That was a major improvement there!
Here's some helpful annotations for other players playing the current classic
-the game has removed the 100% accuracy system and added a accuracy percentage stat (also used now in Time Crisis 5)
-specific terror bites have weaknesses, however it can be countered with alternatives such as the locusts with one grenade, a shotgun with the self destructing puffing bugs. The beetle and locusts do chip damage to your current life (so it doesn't count as actual damage) and the more it leeches on the screen the more life energy it drains, then when it hits 0, you then lose a life icon.
-a multi screen battle requiring memorisation of the enemy patterns. Failing the mission will involve a life penalty and a score total loss with your speed of time plus it can make some boss battles harder. E.g. In 1-3 if you did not clear the mission, more terror bites will come and it will become a major threat. However, it gives you a barrier life system where you lose a small amount of damage when defending from enemies, but a whole BP (barrier point) if hit when attacking so it's best to defend when going for a 1CC.
-a helicopter scene where you either have a mounted machine gun or automatic cannon. The MMG helps rack up the hit count, the automatic cannon deals massive damage but has difficulty with maintaining combos.
-like Time Crisis 3, it introduces the Machine Gun (great against the beetle enemies), shotgun (great against enemies that are tanky and have high HP) and grenade (annihilation of all enemies, best for the locusts.). The sniper rifle in 1-2 (also used now in Time Crisis 5 Mastermind edition). Using a continue will replenish all your ammo stock.
-the game now has a combo gauge at the top left corner (like in dodonpachi) where shooting enemies will fill the gauge and you earn points until the gauge empties to 0. Based on the number of hits, it will add to the final bonus. E.g. +500, +1000, up to +3000. The higher the hit count, the stronger the combo gauge and the more time given before it hits 0.
-there are now more destructive objects and terrains that not just rack up points, but some are crucial to survival. E.g. In 1-3 boss, you must destroy the tram and the car! Some are risky (e.g. 3-2 has missiles so aim well with a grenade or prepare to take damage!) so use caution!
-the enemy has a HP gauge and displays a number showing how much resistance remaining before they are defeated. If it's yellow they are immune to damage but leads open to more scoring for a while. When it's red, it shows they are on their last life. If you deplete a life bar, you can also cancel an enemy's attack.
Hope it helps for others trying to get that 1CC!
36:16 that was a lucky dodge! Just like the one in your previous replay!
